ALERT HOUSTON !!! I hired GRADY B to cut a piece of bead board to glue behind on the wall of the…read morehalf bathroom under the stairs. Not a hard task. Well, what a disaster this person is. First, he is very old and he and his brother stink so badly it's offensive to come into someone's home with that stench. They miscalculated and cut the bead board wrong and had to go to purchase another piece. Instead of installing one full piece of board, which was the goal, they split the board down the middle. It looks like bullshite and very amateur. Grady B scratched up the side wall and knocked a little chunk out of the sheet rock. To continue to make matters worse, Grady B broke a large candle stick with his bulky ladder that was actually moved out of the way for safety. He didn't tell me he broke it, not did he confess about the scratched up wall. After 3 hours of blunderbussing around I asked him to leave. He broke my property, ruined the wall I have no touch up paint for, and installed the bead board incorrectly. I won't even mention that Grady B completely misunderstood a request to hardwire lights on the dining room wall. I dont like to be ugly, but this person is also one of those obnoxious " know-it-alls" that doesn't know squat and is not worth the risk and aggravation to have in your home to fix, repair, or install anything. Don't trust this persons skill level.

Then he proceeded to tell me he was going to charge me 1 thing & the insurance company another to "help me out". That's insurance fraud! I was told he would check out what was damaged. I did a test run with the walls in my bathroom and the cabinets. I was so disappointed. The color was not what we agreed on and it took them two weeks to finish due to different issues popping up. I was fed up and contacted T&J Renovations after a quick google search. I sent them a message to get a quote and got a response within 5 minutes. They came out the same day to look over everything and we scheduled something for the following day. They were on time, friendly, and finished the same day...which is what I had expected from the previous company, but anywho...they were great! This company really turned my frown upside down. I used Yelps search tool to narrow down my need and then sent a msg to 4 handy man company's. They all responded with in a few hrs. Diego w/ Vayeyo Installation called that evening. After I talked to the others, I went with Diego. He had good reviews and has Yelps guarantee. From the time I spoke with Diego, he had one of his installers at my house in an hour. The installer was professional and had my fixtures installed in about 2-1/2 hrs. Pricing was good. The installer had to go to Home Depot and get some water lines. There was no up charge for these items - he gave the that invoice. My next project will have a call to Diego and Vayeyo.

I recently relocated to the Houston area from another state and purchased a new home. When I asked…read moremy realtor for a handyman recommendation, I was referred to John Patrick of Cypress Handyman. I wanted to replace several builder-grade light fixtures with ceiling fans. Before the work began, I communicated with John Patrick by text and email, providing photos of the existing fixtures and the ceiling fans I wanted installed. Unfortunately, after the installation, I immediately noticed several issues. The outdoor ceiling fan wobbled and made a humming noise, while the ceiling fan in my primary bedroom was unbalanced and its light would not work. John Patrick told me the primary bedroom fan's light kit was defective and that I would need to obtain a replacement. Regarding the outdoor fan, he said it was "as good as he could get it." After he left, I also noticed a red electrical wire protruding from beneath the mounting canopy of the living room fan. I contacted the ceiling fan manufacturer, who promptly sent a replacement light kit under warranty. I then reached out to John Patrick to complete the repair. He scheduled two appointments, rescheduled one of them, and ultimately failed to show up for the final appointment without any communication. At that point, I hired another handyman to inspect and correct the installation. He discovered that the ceiling fans could not be properly balanced because essential installation hardware--including nuts and screws--had never been installed. He also determined that the light kit was not defective at all; it had simply been connected incorrectly during the installation. Once the missing hardware was installed and the wiring was corrected, all of the issues were resolved. At the conclusion of the original job, John Patrick requested full payment and assured me that he would return to address any issues that arose. Trusting his commitment, I paid him in full via Zelle and even included a tip. After repeated attempts to have him honor his promise and receiving no response, I ultimately filed a claim through Zelle. I generally give people the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best. Unfortunately, my experience with Cypress Handyman did not reflect the level of workmanship, professionalism, or customer service I expected. I regret not sharing this experience sooner, as it may help other homeowners make a more informed decision before hiring John Patrick of Cypress Handyman. I have also advised my realtor not to refer Cypress Handyman to future clients.

I called Done Right Remodeling to get an estimate on some sheetrock repair in my kitchen and…read moreceilings. I had used another painting contractor before, but I needed a second estimate for comparison. **Note: when I called the other contractor for an estimate, he asked me how many cracks I had and gave me an estimate over the phone without seeing what needed to be done. Charlie came by the day after I called to take a look at the work that was needed. I had some pretty substantial cracks in the kitchen area walls and some minor cracks in the ceiling in the kitchen. A few other minor cracks in the walls on the first floor also needed work. Charlie emailed me a written estimate the next day which was lower than the previous contractor I had used. When I called him to accept the bid and arrange for a day to do the work, Charlie told me he could come the following day! Joy! I could get this taken care of ASAP, since we are expecting out-of-town guests next month and I didn't want my house to look like it was falling apart. Charlie and his helper did arrive a little later than expected (minor) the next morning, but they took a short lunch and finished right on time. They were great about clean up and were extraordinarily tolerant of my dogs, too! The work that they did was superb. My walls look tremendous now, especially since I painted yesterday -- my kitchen looks fabulous! What was really great about Charlie was that he gave me a lot of advice. Obviously parts of the ceiling would now need to be painted -- but I didn't want to paint the entire ceiling. He saved the strip that he took off, told me where to take it to match the paint (which they did) and exactly how to paint it so that it would look perfect (which it does). He told me precisely how to paint the repaired areas of the kitchen walls first, and then the whole kitchen so that it would look like the walls had never been repaired -- which it does. And, Charlie talks. I like that in repairmen. When they talk, they tell you things -- stuff you can use. He told me what I could use to revitalize the finish on my cherry-stained kitchen cabinets (even sent me a picture of the product). He had useful information to share about basic home repair. Charlie talked; I listened. Done Right Remodeling is a BBB accredited business with an A+ rating. That's how I found them, and I'm glad I did. With the quick response and reasonable bid I received, combined with excellent workmanship and clean up afterwards (a big plus in my book), I see why he's earned that A+ rating. I would definitely recommend this business and call them again for a repair that I could not do myself.
