I came in for a simple haircut. All prices listed on their website are incorrect. Expect ~$10 more. One of the reasons I came here in the first place was the price. If I knew that, I wouldn't have gone. I was charged for a "full throttle" bundle at $30, which according to their website includes a shampoo, haircut, and style. I was only offered a haircut and when asked about the bundle the "stylist" said that's just a haircut. In addition to the price, stylist did not seem to understand anything I was telling him to do and left me floored that he even thought he was done on several occasions. Attempted to strike up a general conversation twice throughout the process, like most people do, and he was uninterested. Even a chain haircut place I regularly go (nationwide) offers to put product in to help a cut look better at every location, without even asking. I was not offered anything. Advice to help, update your website or take it down altogether. That is where people will be looking for info on the place. Stop lying to your customers about what each bundle includes if you won't provide it even after asking for it. And I'm not sure if it was just this "stylist" but teach them to be a little more customer service oriented. read more

I have gone here for many years (almost a decade on and off). Normally, I don't care what hair cut I get and let the stylist decide. This time around I asked for a fade, short top back and long top front. The stylist seemed to have gotten distracted by the other stylist as they were both talking to their customer. I ended up with a Cesar with the top all the same length. I know there literally isn't anything that could be done, you can't magically make my hair grow and the stylist probably has a life and needs the money. After driving past this place every day for the past year or so I finally stopped in for a haircut - and I'm very glad I did! I moved to IL a year ago and have been bouncing between barbers ever since, never finding one that I liked and I was getting frustrated. I can definitely say I will be returning to Clutch. It was easy to get an appointment with them and all of their staff were super friendly and kind. They make you feel like you're a relative they haven't seen in months, even if it's your first time there. Warm greetings and interested in what's going on in your life. They pack so many services into such a little place - they have done a great job with their layout and interior design. I probably should have guess from the name, but the interior is all car-themed! I don't care for cars, but I could definitely appreciate the detail. The prices for their services are the average price you'd find anywhere else, maybe even a little cheaper! I came in with a vague idea of what I wanted, saying I would just settle for the same haircut I've gotten for years, but mentioned I was open to suggestions. AJ did a great job with my cut and even spiced it up a little more than I'm used to (after getting my permission, of course). She was very conversational -- and not in the usual awkward small talk way that most barbers are. I was offered a variety of options for drinks as I sat and got my hair cut, which was very nice. Another woman was cutting a little boy's hair across from me and she did an amazing job with him. This seems like a great place to bring your little boys. A great place for guys to get haircuts in Chambana. They have a big HD flatscreen on ESPN and totally run with the whole 'garage' motif. I have been to similar concepts in other places (there is a chain that decorates the place like a locker room, and another called State Street up in Chicago that goes old-timey) but this place is 100% local and has an innovative offering that delivers good value. Clutch's offers a whole bunch of a la carte 'manly' services, if you consider neck and nostril waxing and mint scalp rubs manly. They also do shaves. They also serve beer out of a cooler that looks like a toolbox. Bud Light and Bud Diesel. Nothing better than a domestic lager in the middle of the day. It is a bit awkward to sneak sips in while fur is flying, but its better than not drinking beer. I just got the $20 shampoo cut and style, and was pretty happy with the result. I think the quality of the hair cut I got was nearly on par with trips to Ippatsu and almost as good as H20, but for half the price. They take appointments, but I walked in. Oh yeah, one last thing that is probably worth mentioning: the hairstylists are hot. They dress the part too. So there's that. read more

A few years ago, when I was new to the area, I found myself unsuccessfully finding somewhere to get my hair cut, that is until I found Clutch Cuts. The staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. I always set up an appointment, but sometimes they can be running a bit late but still offer you a something to drink, a beer or water. I've never had a beer while getting my hair cut before, but hey it's kind of nice! I've never walked out of Clutch unsatisfied with my haircut. The staff are great about giving you exactly what you want and asking throughout the haircut if things are looking like you want them to. I sent my boyfriend here for the "spoiler" so he could get pampered for our anniversary and first of all they didn't even know what services they were providing, they had to ask him even though I specified over the phone. Then they did a terrible job with his beard. Did not use a razor to straighten the edges and left his neck and mustache very uneven. I can do a better job myself at home and have no prior experience. This was obviously a rush job even though he was sent to be pampered. Will never go back!! Don't waste your money. read more

They did a wonderful job cutting my sons hair who has low self esteem and they changed his hair style to taper off his hair and AJ has cut my hair and got me scheduled every two weeks which is great because I am a busy professional and it is hard to find time to take care of myself. Their prices are great at $33 for a total cut and ear wax and $22 for my son. I am referring everyone I know to them they are small in size but get a lot more done with less staff. Waxing was painless as they use hot wax instead of regular wax. My ear hair has been good for more two weeks and I am getting a shave for the 1st time today. They are awesome! read more

Highly recommend if you want an excellent haircut. My 4 year old has always done well with sitting for haircuts but they give him Capri sun and toys to play with! We go to jenn, she always does a perfect job and lines him up in the back and around the ears so nicely. She styles it for him and he walks out with 'spikes' and he is always so thrilled It says 'walk ins welcome,' but I would highly recommend scheduling an appointment. This review will cover the two visits I have recently had at Clutch Cuts. While they do accept walk-ins, it is a lot easier to call ahead and get an appointment. They get pretty busy in the afternoons. The first visit as a walk-in was to get my 2-year-old son's hair cut. He hasn't done well when it comes to getting his hair cut. However with the cartoons and a sucker, Sybli was able to cut his hair. She was very helpful and was able to get his hair cut. Well worth the visit to have his mop trimmed. Today, I saw Alexis for a haircut. It was the first time I didn't feel like I was being rushed out of the chair. My wife, for the first time, really likes the way it was cut and styled. AJ cut both my boys hair (ages 5 and 10) She has actually been cutting the boys hair for many years now and we have followed her at each place she has been because she is so amazing and great with the boys. Took my son (2 years old) for his first "big boy haircut". They have daily specials, incl. a Father-Son special, which my husband and son took advantage of. They couldn't have been nicer or better prepared for boys or men of any age - Capri Suns, candy and cartoons for little boys, beer or soda for grown ups. I have been getting my hair cut at Clutch for about 6 months now and I couldn't ask for a better place to get it done in town. I can enjoy a beer while I get my hair cut and can enjoy a variety of sports shows on one of their HD tvs. Even had Stag one time! It beats any barbershop with a bunch of old guys sitting around talking about checkers and making me feel like a "girl" just because I don't get a flat top or put a part in my hair. I was visiting from Chicago and was lucky enough to get an appointment with Jenn as soon as they opened. I got a cut, scalp massage, shampoo, eye brow wax, nose wax and style. She was precise in her service, engaged in genuine conversation and was quite attractive. The customer service from the receptionist making my appointment to the checkout experience at the end was absolutely exceptional. I was given a heads up that appointments book fast, so I made sure to call ahead and schedule an appointment. They do accept walk ins, but only if there is an opening, so I recommend calling ahead because as I witnessed, they are very popular. The stylist all were really friendly and welcoming. I ended up getting their signature cut which gave me not only a great hair cut, but they put a warm steam towel on my face and neck and shaved my neck sweater lol! . It felt awesome! Also I had mentioned to my stylist about my nose and ear hairs grow so fast I can't keep up. She let me know that they actually wax it. I was apprehensive at first, but decided to try it. No joke, there was NO pain at all. And it only took a couple minutes total and the hairs will be gone until my next visit. I will absolutely come back next month. As good as the reviews. Professional service, very attentive barbette ("Allie") who cared (she regularly asked me prior to making a significant cut if it was what I wanted), provided the requisite bedside manner (chatting) but it wasn't too much or too little, and offered me a free beverage as noted in the other reviews (sadly, beer appears off the menu now because of an overly zealous "law-abiding" customer who reported it). I made an appointment in advance and the whole thing took about 35 minutes. The location is sweet since it's right in front of Illinois Terminal in the mini "island" on Neil. The cut ended up being one of the best cuts I've had in a long time. You also get a shampoo and wash before (if you have product in your hair) and after (to wash all the bad leftovers). There's a place I visit in LA that's around $22 bucks, including tip. This took me around $27 with tip ($23 is baseline). Clutch did it just as well with a few more frills thrown in (wash, drink, etc.) So yeah, the only downside is its somewhat pricey fee. Most other cuts in CU seem to be from $12-$20. I've been to a few and have had many hits and misses. But if you're willing to pay for it, here you'll get one of the best cuts in town. Bonus: they even give you a "rewards punchcard" where you get some freebies (shampoo, etc.) if you keep coming. read more
