So I go in and he is fussing about asking me questions which were quite superfluous but then when I attempted to pay the bill, it is now $640 AND I am only getting a little over a $1000 back though he previously said I'd be getting almost $2000. To tell the truth, it's not only the money, deception and the overt incompetence, it is that I cannot be the only person he's done this to.

Do not go to him for your taxes. I made an appointment online and he said "that was your first mistake". If your taxes are complicated in any way, he is very direct, impatient, and in capable of acting like a mature professional. My taxes are very complicated. I picked him as he has "real estate" under his expertise, that couldn't be further from the truth. He knows absolutely nothing about write offs for rental properties. To make a very long story short, he emailed me and said I was getting $10k back, he made a massive error big time. I was expected to pay out capital gains and he never documented any of that. So 3 days later I walked in, since he said making an appointment online is a mistake, sure as anything there are only 2 people in the office, one of them being him. He says you are ready to sign, I said no, I want someone else to review your work. He acted like a 5 year old child from that point on. I left. Called 2 days later and was assigned Barbara ONeil She undid all of his errors. I feel my taxes were reviewed properly and professionally by her. I stand by her work and recommend her for complicated taxes. Final note, stay away from Mike Denton at all costs, you will end up in jail as he has no regard for following the laws.

The taxes were done incorrectly as well - I got a letter two years later from the IRS saying I owed more. He charges $150/hr for negotiation fees, and brags about it. I ended up paying him over a $1000 for transcripts from the IRS (which I could have gotten for free) and few emails. He is arrogant and incompetent.
