Even if it's "not my thing" Its still a great time. The staff is kind and knowledgeable and happy to share and answer questions. Last week I participated in a Foil Sculpting Workshop with artist Douglas Shaw Elder. It rocked! Who knew you could sculpt with aluminum foil? The participants were kids through artists and me! We all left with foil sculptures and another reason to love this gallery.

If I ever have $60,000 to blow (a pipe dream at the moment; having excessive amounts of money to…read morespend frivolously) and for whatever reason, I still happen to be living in OKC when I have this imaginary boatload of money, I will come to JRB and buy a naked woman statue. Because nothing says artsy like naked women statues. Done tastefully of course... I'm sort of joking about all of that, except the price tag. There really is a sculpture in there for $60,000. Actually, I'm not even sure if you can buy that. The musicians (i.e. the pianist and flautist) at JRB are for the lack of a better word, amazing. I think I spent more time listening to them than looking at the exhibition pieces. Most people probably came for the free champagne and hor d'oeuvres while pretending they cared about art that costs more than their cars (more than my car, anyway); there were a lot of college-age people who probably have even less money to spend than I do. I'm totally judging a book by its cover. The level of ostentation can be stifling, even off-putting if you're not used to being around overly pretentious people who think themselves to be culturally enlightened. As an Indian I've dealt with a fair share of my own people who think they're a bigger deal than they are, but even I reached my limit at the 40 minute mark. If I rolled my eyes anymore than I already was at some of the nonsense spewing from the mouths of the wannabe art critics present, it would have looked like I was having a seizure. Art is an odd thing to me; I don't get most of it, and in my humble opinion, a good deal of "contemporary" art is self-indulgent garbage. What I do like, I couldn't begin to describe to you on why I like it. Don't talk to me about feelings. I had someone ask me yesternight, "Why do you like that Van dyke brown print specifically?" Shut up, that's why I like it. But he wasn't willing to let it go, and he coaxed the answer out of me. Something about an urban element contrasting the traditional setting, and the emotions felt by the... something, something. It was $550. I would actually pay that. I'm not rolling in money yet, so I'm not in impulse buy mode, but I know where to go when I want to decorate my house. I doubt my favorite piece will still be there because a lot of people seemed to gravitate toward that one. C'est la vie. I need to finish this review before I start throwing anymore French around.

The tunnel protect you from severe weather or cold wind. The tunnels system link the commercial area, shopping, banking, restaurants, parking garage. Basically you can use it as a walk tunnel to connect all business. There are several tower in downtown that connects the tunnels. Many downtown people use it as walking path for restaurants during lunch time. We got into the tunnel through the Arvest building. We took the elevator to LL level to parking garage below the building, then followed the red painted path to enter the green tunnel. The tunnel divided into colors system. Each color represents different zone and art area. We saw many historic picture and art at tunnels. Visit time take about one hour. Th

We enjoyed exploring these tunnels for at least a couple of hours. I learned more about OKC in…read morethat time than perhaps any city I've been to (except London - I read the book - but I digress). It was also nice to be out of the heat. There were two photos that, taken together, don't seem believable as described. According to the captions, one was taken of OKC April 22, 1889, and the next on May 13, 1889 - just 3 weeks later. Not only has an entire city appeared in 3 weeks, but additional rail lines, and an outhouse added in the foreground. What really seems implausible, though, is a massive pile of dirt in the first photo has disappeared 3 weeks later, with no sign it was ever there - even the grass has grown back perfectly. In three weeks. I'd love to know how the dates were authenticated. We can learn a lot from our elders, so I really enjoyed the quotes and photos of people who had made it to be 100 years old. We entered through a door in a parking garage, but there's an escalator right up front in the BancFirst building that's probably easier to find. I'm attaching photos.

Absolutely loved the job Greg did to clean and restore my priceless, hundred year old family…read moreheirloom painting and it's unique frame. I admit I was scared to leave the painting with a stranger, but it had been degraded by exposure to smoke from a house fire and years of smoking in the home followed by neglect in a storage facility so a cleaning and restoration was a necessity. On top of the stellar job he did in repairing cracks and missing pieces of paint while refinishing the wooden frame, Greg made it look like what I think it looked like the day my parents received it as a wedding present from Earl Halliburton in 1949. Even better, he completed the work in time for us to enjoy it again in its rightful place in our home for Christmas. So glad I had it done locally instead of sending it to an entity in Denver. I guess "Kids don't do drugs" comes to mind from talking to him. He was quite the space cadet and am not sure why he was so apprehensive about answering simple questions. It is about the size of a living room and has a fridge, etc in it, hence part of my curiousity. The artwork in there seems demonic, which is fine but there wasn't too much in it. I am still confused what the premise of this place is. If you catch the owner when he is not high, you may get a better answer.

The gallery had a very fun atmosphere and we saw people of all types enjoying the show. As non-art-community people, I was worried if we would stick out or have a good time but I would say there is something for most everyone. My wife purchased a neat book about an Oklahoma artist at a low cost. Even if you cannot afford the art, you can still take home a momento!

They close if off for the annual army's fest every Memorial Day. It's full operational at all times during the year. They have things for kids to do. There is also live theatre and acting classes.
