One pathway lead us to this cool wall mural.

Totally worth the stop. We were driving through OKC on a Monday afternoon. I wanted to do something to really get a feel for the city and say we saw some sites there. The underground did not disappoint. Artwork on the walls and depending on which path you take, you can get a little bit of the history of Oklahoma City, as well as some other cool local projects. It was also nice to be in the underground where it was cool on a 100+ degree day.

There are entrances to the Underground all over the city. This is one of the entrances that let's you know you're in the right spot-Jan 2020

I had no idea there was an adventure awaiting us underfoot our city streets. Did you know there's a mile long network of colorful tunnels under downtown that's filled with local art + neon lights + a Chinese restaurant?!? These series of tunnels (Underground) are accessible to the public Monday - Friday 6am to 8pm through secret nondescript entrances in basements of some of the most well known buildings downtown. ----- 3 things that surprised me the most: 1) China Chef restaurant located beneath 101 Park Ave Building (4 stars on Yelp) 2) Local art, mostly pictures w/ educational captions learn OKC history beginning with Land Run of 1889 3) F U N Our group had so much fun navigating these neon tunnels...we were looking for creative ways to close our activity rings since we'd eaten our way through OKC all weekend...The Underground was the perfect adventure for a January evening ------ These tunnels were originally built in the 1970s and have been more recently adopted by Downtown Business Improvement District and Downtown Oklahoma City Partnership. There's lots of entrances to the tunnels in some of the well known buildings downtown: Skirvin, Sheraton, Banc First building, Sandridge Parking Garage, Leadership Square, and more. Once you find a tunnel, it won't be very long before you'll be able to pick up a free map of the Underground to help you explore. ------ 4 stars, you ask... I see SO. MUCH. POTENTIAL. in this tunnel project. A couple of the tunnels are under construction (Jan 2020)-yay! Some of the tunnels seem like they would be perfect for a Plaza Walls-esque rotating public mural project. It felt a little blank canvas-ey in certain parts of the tunnels. I would LOVE to see more opportunities for local artists + local non-profit agencies to participate/adopt/create and really breathe life into the Underground. I'd love to see the tunnels be able to change on some kind of schedule, much like exhibits at an art gallery. How cool would that be?!?! ----- All and all, I'd recommend this little fun local educational tunnels trip to help you close your activity rings. Let the Underground adventures begin! January 2020

I used their bike on the history tour but brought my bike on the Halloween/Haunted House tour Their bikes are a great and comfy hybrid style with lights and bells; all of the needed safety items. They also offered helmets if you don't bring your own. As a cyclist I totally recommend some light fingerless gloves in case of a fall, because sometimes falls happen... even when stationary Their knowledge of edificial architecture and history with the State's growth and economy during the formative years was impressive. I really enjoyed the format with riding and listening to music, chatting with other bikers, and interacting with other -estrians and motorists The halloween/haunted house tour was so fun. The weather was so beautiful this night. It wasn't a typical end of October night where it's usually super cold or the first freeze for the end of the year. The tour guide knew all of the spooky stories. Oklahoma unfortunately has a sordid history with its establishment and economic development, so I am sure there are many stories that can be added to this event as the years go on and stories come to light I look forward to a brewery tour and other riding events, but I think this is a great activity for anyone and undoubtedly so for a group

Our captain Marcus had a great sense of humor and had historical knowledge about Bricktown that we never would have known. I definitely recommend finding a seat under the tarp, it was comfortable there. The sun was beating down pretty hard and I think I would have gotten a sunburn if I hadn't of been under the shaded seats. The whole process from getting the tickets to getting off the boat was very smooth and easy. We paid $15 for a 45 min. Boat ride. Worth every penny! You can also bring your drinks aboard, which is nice.

Our tour guide, Anitta, was great! She was very fun and shared great tid bits of history and info. We went at 4:30 on a Saturday and our ride was perfect - not too packed as compared to other times. I definitely would recommend purchasing a ticket, at minimum, a couple hours or even days prior to going. I could see this being much more popular in warmer months. It was already very popular at the beginning of April on a colder day. Overall, if you are checking out the Bricktown area and want a fun activity to do, check out the water taxi! it's only 30 minutes and you get to see the whole area and then some!

Indiana Ave. Time: The "Live on the Plaza" Festival is held every 2nd Friday of each month, from 6-9pm, sometimes until 10pm. Parking: Well, lets just say it's a major pain to find close parking in the Plaza on any Friday night, but especially the second Friday of the month for this art walk. Most of the spaces are angled on each side of NW 16th Street and some are blocked off for the vendors and food trucks. The parking lot across from the Lyric is reserved for those attending theatre performances. So most people have to park in the neighborhood areas next to people's homes. There are some parking spaces behind The Mule for $2 for 2 hours during the day and $5 in the evening. Info: The Plaza District holds a free arts walk event where the art galleries and businesses stay open longer for people to view and purchase artwork and other items. Most times there are food trucks and live bands to enjoy while you walk the Plaza area, to eat and drink at the local restaurants, as well as listen to the bands while discovering artists. The infamous Plaza Walls, where artists paint murals on the sides of businesses, fences, and alley ways, is a big attraction. The murals are revolving, as the Oklahoma Mural Syndicate invites different artists to paint their inspirations, on a rotating basis. In fact, speaking of the Plaza Walls; the past and present murals are available in print for purchase until they sell out! Check the Plaza Galleries for sales. Every month there is a new theme and the main sponsors are Fowler Automotive and the Oklahoma Credit Union. In April the theme was "Earth Day!" This month in May, tonight, the theme is the 19th Annual "deadCenter Film Festival Takeover!" Posted on Friday, 10 May 2019

It wasn't until October, when I passed through OKC with German and a friend mentioned the memorial, that I looked it up. This time, passing through again and not in a rush, I decided to visit the memorial on a Sunday. I couldn't find the parking garage mentioned on the website, so I parked across the street in the post office lot since it was Sunday (I don't think this would be okay on weekdays). When I asked a staff member about parking, she said that was fine. The memorial grounds themselves are beautiful and open to the public 24/7 for free. You can walk around the Gate of Time and the Field of Empty Chairs, which was especially moving, though the atmosphere felt quite heavy and chilling. it was decorated with the Christmas wreath, but there's definitely nothing about holidays cheer can be felt here Please note that bags larger than 14 inches are not allowed inside the museum. Museum admission is $18, and you're supposed to get free parking at a nearby garage, though directions weren't very clear. The museum starts on the second floor and tells the story of the 168 people who died in the 1995 bombing. What struck me most was how it emphasized that it was just an ordinary morning--people checking in to work before 9 a.m., unaware of what was about to happen. The museum was a bit crowded when I visited, likely because it was Sunday, and some visitors brought young kids who were running around, which felt a little distracting given the nature of the space. I don't think many people still actively think about this event, but if you ever find yourself in Oklahoma City, I do think it's worth visiting. It's a powerful and sobering experience.
