As soon as I walked in, I noticed that one of the employees smelled strongly of alcohol and had a bit of an attitude and slurring . It was immediately noticeable and made me uncomfortable throughout my visit. I would ask her for help and would be completely dismissed. Customers should be able to expect a safe and professional environment, and this did not reflect those standards. The general manager is also questionable. On many visits.. He has shown no knowledge of product and when I asked him what he does when his dog has an upset stomach.. he said he pushes on their stomach to get rid of the gas and that's what I should do too. He gets VERY defensive if you question anything he tells you. He's been rude close to closing and will make you feel rushed while mopping an hour before closing. He's gone as far as asking me to "please hurry up. I want to go home" I've met him before at another store and he was equally unpleasant. I hope upper management addresses this issue since these are the welcoming faces as you enter the store. I'm not sure why Healthy Spot would even remotely want people like this working here. Especially seeing the downfall of this company. You would expect them to have employees that would make you want to come back.. not go to another pet store.

We stocked up on a seven pound bag and also found Raw Dynamic's Farm raised Rabbit Treats (an East Coast product) that has become increasingly hard to find in LA. Of course we had to buy those too. Two groomers told me to go to the vet for it. That sounded like several hundred dollars to do what a groomer would do, and probably them also suggesting a four figure surgery to remove the dewclaws. Walking by The Pet Affaire, I decided to drop in and met Rodney, who told me to come by the next morning with the dog. In about 10 minutes, a unfazed Rodney and his team did all his nails and cut back the problem dewclaw significantly, despite the Cujo-like antics of the (muzzled) dog. The price was super reasonable and the dog doesn't associate me with the unpleasant experience. Win-win. I love watching pros who know what they're doing, and this was a perfect example of that. Highly recommend this establishment and will be returning.

It's a truly special place with the perfect balance of active play and restful downtime. The free-range setup lets the dogs move between indoor and outdoor spaces as they please, giving them the flexibility to play, explore, or relax. Before we found this place, other daycares left my dog anxious and reactive. She'd come home barky, and at drop-off, she'd hesitate or pull away. But from the moment we started at SM Animal Kingdom, everything changed. She doesn't even look back when I drop her off now--she runs in, tail wagging, totally excited. And when I pick her up? She's calm, happy, and that perfect kind of tired that tells me her day was full of fun, play, and love. It's also helped her become incredibly socialized and comfortable around dogs of all sizes--especially big dogs, which used to be an issue. I don't know what their magic is, but I think it's just a genuine love and deep understanding of dogs that's helped her mature confidently within a positive pack setting. I'm beyond grateful my neighbors recommended them. I really appreciate the daily report cards and photos, also. Super thoughtful. SM Animal Kingdom has become a key part of my pup's social, mental, and physical wellness. It's more than just daycare--it's her haven.

But, recently, she was out on vacation and I agreed to have Elizabeth groom my dog. Mistake. I dropped my dog off as usual and gave her the details on how to do the cut. An hour later she calls me and says my dog "backed off" the table and fell on his back! WTH? Groomers are supposed to tether the dogs to the table. This obviously didn't happen. She told me that he is doing fine, still happy, but that they have scheduled a vet to look at him at 4. It was 12 pm. Once I picked up my dog, he seemed himself. At that point I asked for a discount on the groom. Duh. You let my dog fall and think I', gong to pay full price??? Elizabeth says, "Sorry, we are covering the vet, can't do a discount." Excuse me? I said you let my dog fall on his back and you don't want to give a discount????? I immediatedly left and asked to speak to the store manager, who was a kind man. He said he had heard about it and he can give me 50% off. I accepted that. I pick up my pup and waited for 2 hours for the appointment. The vet did an exam (without me in the room; do not like that rule) and then called me in. He said that my pup did not have any injuries. I asked about pain medication in case my pup had residual pain later that day, or the next. He gave me pain meds (free of charge). I did not need to use them as my pup was okay. The 2-star review is for the reckless behavior of the groomer and her unwillingness to offer a refund, but also the kindness of the store manager and the vet.

When we dropped him off nothing was wrong but come to find out they nicked him with a tool & caused a gash on his rib cage. They didn't even call right away & sent him to the hospital on site. Once I got there they were playing dumb and saying they wouldn't charge me for services and injuries I did not cause all the while acting as if they're doing ME a favor but not charging me. I made it very clear I wouldn't be paying for anything and the manager had to be called . This is not a safe place for our family dog & he will not be going back!! Do better !!
