This store is convenient and the location and parking are good. However the shop is very busy and you should expect to have to queue for a little while before paying, and sometimes they have too many trolleys in the way for shelf stacking. read more

The Farmers' Market is a relatively new initiative which brings local produce to Oxford's shoppers…read more There's a great range of food such as free range meat and dairy produce, home-baked cakes and locally produced jams and honeys. There are burgers and other food items cooked on the sight, so you can eat while you wander, and it's ideal if you're looking for good, honest food without the stress of supermarket shopping. The stallholders are mostly friendly and keen to chat about their produce, and prices are reasonably compared to health food shops and similar. A great thing to support that adds to the traditional feel of the more independent aspects of Oxford shopping and makes the big town seem more like a local farming market.

I loved that everything was put in paper bags, not plastic. I read that the market has been around since the 9th century, which I loved knowing. A short walk down the hill brings you to beautiful neighborhoods with cobblestone roads and the huge cathedral. It's a lovely area overall.

You can find everything from brilliant pies (Raven's Den in particular), awesome cheese (Lincolnshire Poacher and others), fresh veggies (Earthworks and others), fresh fish and meats... not to mention cupcakes and other sweet treats! We usually start by getting a coffee for the husband from the vendor with the mobile coffee bar (the machine is in the back of his van), and then wander the markets and end at the Merchant for a cup of tea for me. As long as there is a rainbow biscuit on the way even our toddler is happy.

I went in 2 different times: saturday at 3pm and wednesday at 10am. Two completely different vibes. I tried the famous sandwich from the black pig, viral chocolate covered strawberries and bread ahead. Black pig - the best one sandwich: it was AMAZING!!! I was a bit scared to get this since i was by myself but let me tell you, it was not heavy as i expected it to be. Just delicious overall and would totally recommend. Chocolate strawberries: I love strawberries and chocolate but definitely think you can find cheaper alternatives anywhere in london. Bread Ahead: my new favorite pastry place. I pretty much got a donut from this place (not this location) everyday because the black currant cheesecake donut was that good. I got the tiramisu and crème brûlée donut which my brother liked and i wish i could've tasted them before they went bad but anyways, I would totally recommend the donuts from here! Their chocolate chips cookies are HUGE and delicious as well. This was probably one of my favorite markets!
All three flavors of meat rolls. Favorite was the traditional roll and the Lamb.
Yummy

I definitely deduct a star because, while parking in England is usually a challenge - not enough spots (all (too) small for my Land Rover) and expensive, parking in Salisbury seemed to us like the worst for a small city! Anyway - back to market and surroundings. Historic buildings including a magnificent cathedral, a wide variety of pubs and eating places, an open market and a wide range of stores selling just about anything your heart might desire. We were lucky to catch the open market itself on Saturday morning en route to lunch at the Haunch of Venison (the pub from 1320 - see my review). They had every kind of cheese, fruit etc as well as clothes, crafts and more. Review #58 2019

I came here twice with my mother-in-law to pick up a few fresh items (strawberries), direct from the farmers. The hardest part is finding a parking spot. Lucky for me, my mother-in-law had a handicap sticker, which meant that we were able to park right at the market square. I'm not sure what you do if you can't park on the street. There has to be a parking lot somewhere, I just didn't need to figure that part out. If you are in the neighborhood, stop in and enjoy! I'll be back the next time I'm nearby.

There's probably only about 15 stalls, but you could do a decent food shop here consisting of fruit & veg, milk, eggs, bread, fish, olives, every type of sausage you can imagine (I settled on pork leek and chilli), amazing cuts of pork and even pre-prepared goodies like pies, chutneys and cakes. And if you get hungry while browsing you can grab a little pie to eat there and then - I enjoyed my butternut squash & spinach, and my hubby devoured his chilli beef & cheddar before I could even snaffle some. If pie isn't your thing, there was also curries, toasted sarnies and all other sorts of goodies. There was also a stall selling hot drinks which even on this sunny Sunday had a sizeable queue. ...when can I go back?
