Pop Vinyls are stacked floor to ceiling with a good selection. Biggest complaint I had was some of the older pops had boxes that could have been in better condition for the price. Huge selection of signed Pop Vinyls, many kept behind glass. Prices on new limited releases were what I would expect for a retail shop. They also had a small selection of other collectables and a few comic long boxes. Overall, if you a Pop Vinyl fan, Wize Guys Collectibles is 100% worth a stop.

This is a good small shop that has just about everything you would want out of a local comic shop.

This place has a decent selection of board games, but the organization scheme is somewhat of a disaster. I think basically the games were vaguely in alphabetical order and then a tornado went through them. So if you have a particular game in mind, you might be able to find it by looking in the general area of the letter it begins with. But seriously very few people come to a board game store with a particular game in mind. A better (and more common) scheme would be by complexity - light vs medium vs heavy strategy, with coop games on a separate shelf. We asked the staff for recommendations, and the person who helped us was less than helpful. You could tell from his tone that he wanted us to leave. He pulled games arbitrarily off of the shelf without much explanation of why he even recommended them. All board games are at market price. I guess we will keep going into the city for our board games.

Toy stores were of course one such place, but comic shops were where it was really at if you wanted to meet some like-minded pop culture addicts. Magnus Comics is located on the second floor above a pizza shop and (soon to be reopened) movie theater. In a way, this is the perfect place to put a comic shop since the other two businesses will draw plenty of people who are hanging out or into movies. When you get upstairs, the hallway is very unassuming and you'd think it maybe had old offices or something instead of a retail shop. When you open the door however, you are greeted by a beautifully organized comic shop! To the left is the counter where the owner is often stationed with comics and cards. To the right is a beautiful display case with action figures. Beyond that is a wall of comic books to the left and a ton of action figures and collectibles in the middle. The walls are covered all the way to the ceiling with a combination of new and vintage toys. There is not a lot of spare room, but that's part of the charm of this place. There's a ton of stuff, but nothing looks messy. The owner (Magnus) and his son (Xavier) are super friendly and Magnus was happy to chat and show me any of the figures in the display case. I purchased a vintage Star Wars figure and the price they asked was very fair (read: not cheap, but priced right for the age and condition). The presentation of the shop is excellent including how they package loose toys for sale. In the front of the shop are the wall books and CCG/TCG cards. Some of the wall books are kept behind glass, but the staff were helpful in accessing them. The staff were the owner and his son, and they were excellent to chat with. Overall, this shop, which has only been open for a few years, might be one of the most promising in this part of the state. Its biggest challenges are the second-floor space and its size.

On so many occasions, staff has gone out of their where to look for a book I couldn't find, grab me something I missed while I'm checking out, and just offer a warm and positive attitude while I'm there. I think this is a solid shop and I always recommend it to people looking for comics in NYC.
