A very cool comic shop with a lot to offer for comic fans…read more With their ever-present Halloween decor and surprisingly organized interiors, Gotham Comics is not your run of the mill comic shop. From new issues to back log, everything has a neat and tidy place, making browsing quick and effortless. They place a variety of mid-level rare comics ranging in price from $15 to $40 near most of the comic shelves, which make for both excellent window shopping and dangerous impulse purchases. They have a nice selection of old and new comics, mostly from DC and Marvel, so Gotham might not be great if you're looking for more obscure or niche comic brands. Similarly, this is a comic shop first, and things like games have a small presence. I also have to mention the staff working at Gotham. The employee was super helpful, going above and beyond in looking for issues that I couldn't immediately find. He made my visit feel extra special. The only downside with this comic shop is that it isn't located closer to my home! Otherwise I'd go there every week!

Quaint little comic book shop that totally gives off the "local comic shop" vibe from the 90's…read more Take it for what it is, and don't expect it to have everything you're looking for. But if you're looking for mainstream new releases, chances are you'll find them on release day (maybe the week after too). Not too much else to look at, especially collectibles, so your visit will probably be a whole lot shorter than other comic book shops (which is better for your wallet). But if you're in the area and you're in a pinch for that new Batman comic, this is your place. It was a hot day when I visited and they just had a couple floor fans running. Nothing gets me out of a comic book shop faster than sweaty hands on loose/unbagged books. And for parking, expect to circle around a couple times (plan to pay for a meter). But service is super friendly and they take card. And like I said, for what it is/does it's still a 5 star place

Note: This shop is currently located at 105 N Union Ave, Cranford, NJ 07016 (they moved across the…read morestreet from 102 years ago). I have submitted this change and their updated hours to Yelp to change this listing. I grew up going to comic shops almost weekly. I have fond memories of going to places like Forbidden Planet's original two floor Manhattan location, Jim Hanley's Universe near Herald Square and Bill & Bob's in Brooklyn. As a young Nerd these were formative experiences that I treasure. Sadly, as the digital era encroaches on publishing, comic shops are not as common as they used to be. There was a time were almost every other town or neighborhood had one, but nowadays they are few and far between. I used to go to Classic Comics in Rahway but they went downhill at top speed a long time ago (and have since closed). When I was hunting for a new shop to park my pull list Rogue Comics came up in my searches and I'm so glad it did. While I originally went to the location across the street, not much has changed with its new location. This is a medium sized comic shop, so not as big as say, the current Forbidden Planet in Manhattan but it doesn't need to be. A lot of the goods here are condensed, almost to the point of clutter at times but that just means there are plenty of treasures to be found. Roughly the layout is Transformers, blind boxes, DC, Marvel and Diamond Selects stuff towards the front. Then a wall of Marvel and DC comics with new releases in the middle. Towards the back are more obscure comics and a Star Wars section. Lining the upper shelves near the ceiling are higher end items like HasLab vehicles or Hot Toys/Sideshow style figures. At the main counter are lots of statues on display (and of course, for sale). Pete, the owner is awesome. One of the things Geeks love to do is "talk shop" about the latest goings on in the world of scifi/fantasy and comics and he is a font of knowledge. If you need something he doesn't have, he is more than happy to see if he can get it for you. I have my pull list set up at Rogue and I rarely have issues with it. Maybe once in a blue moon an issue may be missing but I just look through it, ask about it and most of the time it's in the box somewhere so no big deal. The prices at Rogue are fair given that it is a small business. For action figures, don't expect Amazon prices, but given they often have stuff you won't find in stock at say, Target, the extra few bucks are well worth you burning gas to find the figure all over town. I love Rogue Comics and recommend it to anyone interested in scifi/fantasy collectibles and comics.

A steady stream of regulars, first time shoppers, and even a dad introducing his son to comics were in and out while I was browsing. Updated, I love this shop and the people who work there, they are friendly, reasonably priced and…read morethe shop is well organized and its easy to find what you're looking for and comfortable if you're just browsing. Mike the owner is very accommodating and it very fair to sellers when making offers to buy their books. (Often explaining how much they would be resold for an makes a reasonable offer based on that price). Mike and Jackie have excellent knowledge about Comics, Toys and Funco Pops and serious collectors shop there weekly because of them. I'm at a total loss for why there are some bad reviews here, Yes they have a sign that they are always buying, but you are best calling ahead and asking when the owner is in (which is almost all the days). As he is the one that will make the best offer and he really knows what sells well and doesn't. (Avoid Sundays and Mondays if you are there to sell your collection). Word to the wise, when selling a collection, it is always best to call ahead, see when the best time to visit is and see if they are interested in your collection. If they are, this is a great place to deal with as you won't get robbed. Naturally they are a business and need to stay profitable and need to buy at a rate that allows them to mark it up, but you aren't going to walk in with a rare comic that is worth $500 and walk out with 20 dollars, I've seen Mike buy and he is very honest. (Sometimes that means that he has to refuse to buy items that he can't sell, and other times people walk out with much more than expected. A reviewer complained about parking during a snow storm. My feeling is that the person with the car parking problem wasn't even dealing with the people who own the comic shop, probably from another business or an irate person who is a customer of the vacuum shop. Another reviewer said that they didn't feel comfortable there and I find this hard to fathom, I've always felt comfortable there and noticed that they treat their regular customers like family, often knowing about them, their jobs and families and remembering to ask them about things that they have shared about their lives (Changing Jobs, Children's health, Weddings, loss of family members, etc.).
