I have been using Coach buses for years. This trip both ways was a terrible experience! From Newark to Port Authority, the driver was extremely rude to everyone. I felt terrible for this older couple that he had words with for no reason & police came. Then a foreigner did not realize he needed a pre ticket & instead of helping him he literally shut the doors on him & said take the next bus. One French lady also didn't have a ticket & he let her on for free. Others paid cash & during the trip he pocketed the cash! Coming back today on the 1:30pm bus that left a half hour late from Port Authority to Newark the driver was also disgusting! My 73 year old husband with a medical condition was told take your luggage on the bus we need room for other luggage. The bottom was not even full. He could hardly lift it to wedge it into the top. The driver gets on the bus & walks over to him & said we got cameras here recording everything so do you have a problem? Really? Who talks to someone like that? We would have told him off but he looked like he wanted us to. Everyone on the bus thought he was a total jerk ! You really should investigate who you hire & teach them manners first the job! Bad experience. Bus to EWR was supposed to board at 1:15pm, but didn't arrive until 15 mins later and departed at 1:42. Delay updates on website were bogus underestimates. Senior pricing was quoted at $11.85, but we were instead each charged $12.50 (we paid cash) to board bus. Next time, we will use NJT. read more

The bus might simply not show up (or be ridiculously late) with no way to get a refund. We booked the service to go to the airport, but twenty or so folks after waiting 30 minutes beyond the estimated bus arrival all had to book ubers. For something high priority like getting to the airport. Stay clear of this service. Complete scam. I'd use any other service before this when getting to the airport. If leaving the airport and on an extreme budget and being willing to wait up to an hour past the scheduled pickup of the bus, it could be worth it. Otherwise this is the worst travel/taxi/transit related service I ever gave money to. read more

The 31 Coach USA bus that runs through Newark, NJ doesn't seem to have a schedule. If you want to be late, wait for this bus. I used to take the bus each day to Newark Penn Station pre-COVID, and every morning there was some issue. After 2 years of a pandemic and less traffic on the roads, I thought the bus might be on time. However, I was wrong. Per the schedule, 3 buses should have passed in the time that only one bus came. If I had and appointment, I would have been late. It seems they have no regard for patron's schedules. read more

Super easy ride from EWR to Bryant Park! Just go outside terminal to bus stop 16 and scan the code on the glass wall of stop to buy a ticket. Otherwise you can pay cash. Bus can drop you off at 3 different locations in Manhatten. Going back to EWR just as easy. Buy tickets on Coach USA app or cash to bus driver. The stop is located on the Northside of 42nd, closest to 5th ave. Right outside the ZARA store. (Bryant park stop). You can store your luggage under the bus. To avoid booking fee, pay cash to driver. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. A really bad experience. Arrived at Newark Airport Terminal A and ran the the bus stop to catch the 7:45 pm bus. Got to the stop at 7:35. The bus never came. I waited. At 8:41, a bus showed up. The driver let people off the bus, then proceeded to tell the waiting passengers , "I'm off the clock. I can't take you. There'll be another bus at 9:00pm" I told him that I'd been waiting for over an hour. He said, and I quote, "What do you want me to do about it?" No apology. No commiseration. Driver on June 15,2022 stored my suitcase for destination of Grand Central from Newark airport. When we arrived - no suitcase -- he left it at Port Authority He was rude and I raced back to Port Authority- went to the Police who were great however no one was at the CoachUSA office or destination - and bag was left on the street and most likely stolen. There was also no announcement that the bags would be other than the destination stop and mine was Grand Central. Numerous calls to the Lost and found and customer service - NO one returns calls. I was in NYC for a wedding so lost everything that of course, most can be replaced however the bus company owes me something including a apology. read more

Bought a ticket from EWR to Port Authority on 07/16. The bus (last scheduled of the night) never showed up with no reason given. I requested a refund but was told refunds are not given. I'm sorry, but if your only service is busing people, and your bus doesn't show up, then you need to be giving refunds. I was told that my ticket is good for one year, and could use it on a different trip. Why would I EVER use a service that I know to be unreliable? Trash company, stay far away. read more

I mean, sure, traffic can't be controlled but these women sitting next to me had been waiting for over 90 minutes. I waited 45 minutes. According to the schedule, three buses should have arrived in that time. We watched two buses pass and they said they were only doing drop offs which makes no sense. I called the Coach USA hotline which made me listen to a recorded message before disconnecting me twice. The bus arrived 30 minutes late. Then, when the bus finally arrived, the driver casually pointed and told me to put my bag in the storage. So I did what he said and hit my head hard on the door above my head. Completely unreliable transit. I have been waiting at Terminal A for nearly 45 minutes with not a single coach bus. I clearly have missed my connecting bus, based on COACH schedule. That bus trip is a 2 hour commute north. When you are making a trip solo with an infant, it is hard enough. This is awful. Schedule from Newark to Manhattan is utterly unreliable. Have been waiting for the 3:30 pm bus for over an 1 hour. 4:00 pm bus didn't come either. Called the customer service number who first claimed that the bus already came and left. When I reminded her that I've been at the bus stop since 3:30 pm, she changed the story and claimed the bus is running late due to the weather with no ETA because GPS is not working... Meantime, all other airport traffic, taxis and Ubers are all running fine. Crappy service. Avoid at all cost. read more

My personal experience was very good. Bus was on time at Grand Central. The driver was good. I never had to deal with customer service because I booked my ticket on the app. I could see how it might be frustrating if the bus is delayed but it's beyond the company's control I think because NYC traffic can be gridlock. read more

Horrible experience with Coach USA, 351 Meadowlands Bus. After the Beyonce concert in July, our group went straight to the area where buses were picking up. On the bus webpage, it said that buses would be picking up for an hour after concerts end. Arriving at the pickup area, we joined a line of ~500 people. The line was moving incredibly slow - we waited overall for almost 3 hours - and very few buses were coming. When we got towards the front of the line, we learned the problem. There was only 1 person checking tickets to board all buses. This person did not know how to use the electronic ticket scanner, so he was allowing anyone with a paper ticket (ie purchased in person at Port Authority rather than online) to cut the line and board buses, while those with electronic tickets had to wait. Furthermore, there were just not enough buses for the number o people. And there was no one there to explain what was going on. I've tried to call and left voicemails three times hoping for a refund for this trip, but have received no return calls. I will never use Coach USA again and advise you not to either! read more

Bus came 20 minutes late and was 20 minutes slow because of traffic. It was 40 minutes behind schedule in total. It cost me my flight. Phone lines don't work. Plan to add 1 hour to your schedule or better yet take the trains. Won't get stuck in traffic and more dependable in terms of timing. Terrible. read more

The dover 31 bus is sickening just like the drivers... bad attitudes.The bus is always 90 minutes or more late. You can never never ever depend on this bus service .. this is just ridiculous. If I could give zero stars I would. They're the worst mass transit company to ever exist. Buses show up late, show up randomly, or don't show at all. The prices are exorbitant and the service is non existent. If there was any other service available in town I would use it. Oh lord mercy, TL;DR Would not recommend, take the train or local NJ bus if you need to. This express bus took almost 3hours to make it to its destination, had an average speed of 8mph within Manhattan, and took somewhat of 30min+ to make it from grand central to Pen Station, even the passengers started arguing with the driver beging him to stop talking to his friend and start driving because the bus was 40 min late. I needed to get to Newark Airport from NYC and searched it from Google maps, unfortunately Google maps led me to this bus line. I've looked at the schedule and 5pm was when the next bus was supposed to arrive, come 40 min later the bus arrived, the so called "express" made it from Manhattan to newark within 2h+ Now I'm out here waiting for the 10 pm bus, and it's already 10:24 with no bus in sight. read more

Service going downhill. Nice buses have been replaced by MTA buses so there aren't enough spaces for luggages, which are piled one on top of the other. Mine ended up at the bottom. And luggages filled up spaces all the way to the exit door. It took my 5 minutes to get my bag by moving all other bags around, and another few minutes trying to get out of the exit door. Driver didn't even bother to come back to help. So much nicer and easier when the luggages are stored under the bus with the nice big buses. The schedule is also getting worst. Buses either don't show up as scheduled or are late. It's now 5:40 and I'm still waiting for the 5:30 am bus to arrive. read more

i have a serious issue with the 31 bus that leaves south orange at 636a...the bus driver is rude. she is always late and always crowding the bus to a point where people are on top of each other. covid is still an issue and she does not seem to care. instead of saying the bus is full wait for the next she continues to cram the bus full of people. this is flu and cold season no one wants to be face to face on a bus full of people. this is very annoying everyday it's the same thing. her supervisors need to speak with her about this and her attitude. read more

Leaves early and arrives extremely late, I take the 24a and 24b in jersey. You have one job, just drive. Not asking to be best friends, when someone asks you a question just say you don't know or answer it. All this attitude is just so extra. Do not take the shuttle bus from Newark airport to Manhattan. I caught a 6:30am flight from SFO to avoid the traffic. The flight arrived early but sat in the bus for forty five minutes waiting for "ticket agent" to show up. Traffic was awful going in town. Poor management! read more
