I ended up tearing my rotator cuff, my first surgery actually caused more damage and I had 3 more additional surgeries to repair it as best they could. This was in 2013, for over 12 years I no longer trained in martial arts and I was nervous to step on a mat fully aware that my skill level was no longer equal to my belt level, I had also went from being in my prime to being in my mid 40s which doesn't help with the athleticism aspect. The BJJ Community can be harsh when the skill doesn't match the rank, my first day I was willing to start as a white belt (kinda hoping to actually) I was gassed in two minutes and I go sit next to Travis who I remember watching along with other Olympic Team members training I got to be in some of the classes they were in I was a judo Brown Belt and was amazed at the dedication and skill these athletes had especially Travis, the injuries he overcame and trained through takes a different breed of human. Obviously I'm intimidated he isn't going to remember some random dude from judo 14 years earlier. I apologized to him for how out of shape and just plain bad I was and I offered to exchange my belt for a white belt which he quickly dismissed and the fear of judgment went away I'm still amazed at his talent and nothing against my previous professor because the art had evolved since I was a Purple Belt but his Blue Belts are as good and better than the Purple Belts of 2012 and I can confidently compare having competed as a purple belt in tournaments like Naga and Grapples quest and winning medals against others purple belts, it not just the evolution of Jiu-Jitsu it's also the systematic approach to grappling, in my opinion it actually in a way makes students who don't train with intent on purpose end up training with intent by design. It's only been 2 months I still suck but suck less, and the atmosphere of the other instructors as well as training partners have made a decision i thought I might regret into the best decision I've made recently. None of the judgment happened it was actually the opposite and when I would get down on myself after getting smashed while rolling that training partner was usually also encouraging me and reminding me that it will take time for the head knowledge to get in sync with the muscle memory. The entire team is supportive of whether you want train as a hobbyist or if you want to compete & you won't be pushed one way or the other but if you have a goal they will get you there as long as you put in the effort and dedication, my goal for now is to get to a comparable level as I previously was and I know I will & I spoke to Travis about competing (when I'm back to how I was) and he is fully supportive. You get world class training, and really some of the nicest guys I've had the privilege to train with and learn from, I'm glad I didn't let my fears keep me from entering that door. Minutes after scheduling my lesson, I got a very nice phone call from the Instructor, Tara R., who confirmed the lesson. She was able to answer any questions I had, as well as asked me what I hoped my sons would want to get out of the lessons. It's amazing how you don't have to do anything, the instructor comes right to your house! First lesson went amazing, the instructor showed up right on time and had a whole lesson plan set for the hour. I was able to follow along with her. Highly recommend Aquamobile!

Not enough time to digest. Or you could show up and find the last couple forms being taught when you have not been shown or learned the beginning forms . The Details: Several years ago I switched from traditional conditioning (machines, rote freeweight exercises) to functional training. If I only knew sooner... The trainer who originally taught me and my kids moved out of reach. Since then I've engaged in a pretty arduous search and ended up at SOS. As far as I can tell, it's one of a handful of gyms of its kind in the Boston area, and it happens to be at 73 Princeton St., North Chelmsford MA 01863 (https://www.skillofstrength.com). SOS does a terrific job of translating cutting edge methods to well structured and original routines that can be followed by all levels of ability. On one hand there's a somewhat more casual crowd that does a modified version of the day's program (I'm in their MOVE class) and they seem quite content. I'm absolutely, 100% all for that. At the same time, there's another crowd that's always pushing for the next level. Despite the wide ranging audience, SOS underscores the experience with some very subtle social norms - very healthy, and it creates a great vibe. My first experience with SOS was sending my high school aged son through their COMPETE program. It accomplished everything I was hoping for - measurable gains in quickness, strength, cardio, reinforcement of footwork, increased confidence, and familiarization with a vocabulary that athletes require if they're going to progress. All in a personal, incredibly positive environment. Why SOS works for me: starting in my teens and stretching into my late 30's I spent a good portion of time working with skill coaches and strength & conditioning coaches. Together, they made a huge difference in my progress. I don't play a sport anymore, but I still want a technical workout oriented toward increased fitness. SOS delivers in spades. I'm a bug for technique - I actually believe that 5 pounds done right is better than 50 pounds done wrong. As a result I'm constantly asking questions, getting terrific guidance, and no one's lost patience or interest - instead, they seem to be totally into it. SOS has also taught me additional, helpful routines for balance (which are actually fun, and this stuff is supposed be fun), and I'm still pulling myself together on their footwork drills - happily. If you have kids or student athletes who would benefit from a thoughtful, engaging workout, or if you're looking for something different and well structured, or if you simply burn for a good workout, SOS is a terrific place.

This may supplement your standard gym or keep you going if you have trouble finding time to climb. But I wouldn't travel a long distance to come here or if you're really budget minded. That said, the routes are good and the staff is awesome. There plenty of parking and the cold beer afterwards are huge perks. When I boulder, I'll come here and when I climb, I'll go to CRG Watertown.

After completing my second visit to Big Sticks Golf in Burlington, MA, I decided to write a review…read morefor Yelp! My first visit was very positive and it prompted me to come back. I booked the golf simulator which allows for independent play as a solo or with a group of up to four where you can play practically any course isn't he world, practice at the range, or just analyze your swing. Because this is a golf simulator, you hit specially designed golf balls into a screen where various monitors and sensors pick up the trajectory, ball spin, velocity and forecast distance and accuracy. The results are very realistic and the distances from my own club selection are surprisingly accurate. While the tee to green is highly comparable to real life, the short game does take some adjustments. The staff at Big Sticks Golf was friendly and courteous in welcoming me, offering an empty bay to take some warmup swings and then logging me into the simulator. The rest was up to me. Again, the experience was lifelike enough to work on my swing after many winter months off. Where I was advised by their on-line booking site as well as talking to a member of the staff that an individual can play 18 holes of golf in under an hour at $55/hour. I played pebble beach and enjoyed it very much, despite losing too many strokes around the greens with finicky technology that requires some getting used to. For my second visit I booked 2 hours and played TPC Sawgrass twice since the PGA tour was there this week. Again the staff was courteous and assisted me in getting set up. While my tee to green game was still good, I experienced notice improvement in the short game vs. my previous visit. Using the "aim" on the monitor vs. trying to compensate with your actual stroke is key. I was very pleased with the experience and not only played the course twice shooting in the low 80s each round, but I also had 25 mins remaining to hit the range and work on various clubs and my swing. It was well worth the money and I am really looking forward to the warmer weather getting her to keep the momentum going on my regular outdoor game too. When it may be more convenient to play a quick round indoors, I will keep this establishment in mind all year round.
