Everything was cozy. I loved the warm room and natural light let in by the large skylights. Because it's couple-y, I suppose, there was no phone in the room. When we wanted to book sea kayaking, the owner made the phone call for us. The two rooms labeled "Forest View" are in a building separate from the main one. A storage room is between the two, so it was totally quiet and felt all to ourselves. I really didn't mind not having the Ocean View. We could still hear it, or go out to the common deck or down to the beach. The Great Room where breakfast is served has a wonderful view, and has a telescope for birdwatching. It opens to the deck with a hot tub, and stairs down to the private beach. See photos and descriptions on their very thorough website. They also have winter rates for the storm watch season! Free Wi-Fi in the Great Room (which, I suppose, might reach the rooms in the main building).

However, none of these rivalled the warmth and hospitality of Sue and Drew, the wonderful couple that own and run the establishment - and their funny and social dog, Malcolm. Without them, the Inn would just be another inn. While this is definitely a romantic spot suitable for couples, I visited with a friend and it was just as enjoyable. The Inn is in a super location, private, yet close to the Wild Pacific Trail and within walking distance of the town of Ucluelet and its restaurants and shops. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a getaway in Ucluelet!

We were at that one right by the beach and it's awesome. The upper floor belongs to owners (but they don't live there) and the lower one is all yours. And the owners are cool and very friendly and nice. There are entrance hall, two bedrooms, living room (including dining room), kitchen, bathroom (bathtub and shower corner), sun room, terrace and all of these are pretty big. And the beach is approximately 15 meters away, just walk through garden and you are there. Everything is fully equipped and furnished. No TV. Perfect. Beach is big, clean and ideal for surfers rookies. Price reflects awesomeness of this place. And you are in the centre of Tofino in 5 minutes by car.

It just so happens that my parents and I were the first guests of the current owners (the charming Todd and Lynda) after they took over in 2003. I cannot overstate how great Todd and Lynda are, and what a great job they do to make this place feel like home. We always rent the self-catering Garden Cottage, so I can't vouch for the breakfasts, but something tells me they're scrumptious. The cottage doesn't have a view of the ocean, but you're 30 seconds away, and the two suites in the main B&B building certainly do - and stunning ones at that. Plus, you're on Chesterman Beach, by far my favourite beach on the Pacific Rim, after 2 decades escaping out there whenever I can. I quite simply cannot imagine staying anywhere else.

I am proud to review this splendidly wonderful little B&B they call the Willow Guest House…read more Before I begin the review, I think it is imperative that I preface it with a small but relavent note about myself. I am a well traveled person however, for all intent and purposes, I am very much a city guy. And being so, have a particular disposition regarding the finer things in life; the little but important conveniences of nicer living. So I would comfortably say that I have high expectations when it comes to accommodations and anything I plan to pay for or during a vacation. So having traveled a great deal, I have experienced a wide spectrum of quality in services and accommodations throughout the world. I am extremely pleased to say that I have never experienced any accommodations quite like the one at the Willow Guest House. In short, it truly felt like I was coming home. My biggest apprehension when it comes to B&Bs is the imbalance most B&Bs have between the business and the home. Either it is too business like with the warmth and homely coziness of The Adams Family or too much home and not enough business which leaves for rather awkward interactions and no sense of privacy. The Willow Guest House has this balanced magnificently. Never once did I feel like an intruder or awkward. Warren and Dee (the owners) are the kindest and most generous people I have ever met. The moment my girlfriend and I stepped into their home, it felt like we were family. It was quite remarkable actually. Their rare ability to be unconditionally welcoming and genuine is so refreshing that I found myself wishing our trip was longer than two nights! They are a perfect team and care so much about their B&B that every single detail towards excellence is considered. I would come back and stay at their brilliantly wonderful B&B any chance I can get. In fact I wish every hotel in Whistler would take some notes of what true hospitality and comfort is. This is undeniably the BEST BED AND BREAKFAST I have EVER had the pleasure of visiting. You will not be disappointed when you book with Warren and Dee. They are a true gem.

While travelling on business recently, my husband realized that not so much as a garden shed was available in Courtenay because of a large influx of visitors for the BC Seniors Games. Through the Chamber he found the only room in the whole area and that was only because of a last minute cancellation. The hosts were divine, the room was lovely, the price was right and breakfast was amazing. He had such a nice time. They have two upstairs rooms with a full kitchen and living area for guests... you can cook your own food, hang out and watch TV and then go down to the hosts kitchen for a made to order breakfast. Five stars just for the home made granola!

We particularly enjoyed sitting around the fireplace and eating dinner in the upstairs suite. The upstairs suite is HUGE and could fit a whole family all on its own. It doesn't come with breakfast though, so be forewarned! I stayed in the nautical room with a half bath and two twin beds. It was perfect for me and I slept well. I was a bit jealous of my co-worker in the quilt room because he had a jacuzzi! Unfortunately, the hostess Sandy was called away for an emergency, so we never got to meet her. She had a friend step in to help check us in and make us breakfast. She did a great job, especially on short notice. I actually would love to go back in the summer with my own family to explore the area and enjoy Sandy's hospitality all over again. The town itself was pretty much closed down since we visited in December. I bet it is more happening in the summer. Bring your own lunch and dinner foods or else your options will be limited to gas station food in the winter.

She is tactful, flexible, intelligent and has a great sense of humor. The House is spotless and has nice and cozy decor. The overall atmosphere is very laid back and positive, in fact it is very easy to make friends with other guests as well. The view from the patio, where (weather permitting) Sandy serves her homemade from scratch breakfasts is nothing short of spectacular. You can eat your French Toast prepared by Sandy on the patio facing the Clallam River lazily flow into the Strait of Juan de Fuca or and watch the Bold Eagle being picked on by couple of crows. In the background you can see Vancouver mountains and fishing vessels and big cargo ships as well. Overall my experience was such as I was visiting an aunt for the summer. I will definitely be going back.

I have slept nearly every night of my life…read moreon a bed - at least 96% of all 3am hours have been spent between the sheets - and I often will consume a first meal of the day before the hour of 12am. As for the more traditional concept of a B&B - to wit, paying to spend the night in the home of a stranger - I have only done so once or twice before. That said, it is hard to imagine a more wonderful or welcoming environment than Our Place, as provided by Lewis and Lorraine. I was in Parksville for the wedding of a friend, and my girlfriend looked into possible locations for the night. She settled on Our Place, and it was a very wise decision... nearly as wise as dating me in the first place. Lewis and Lorraine were both gregarious and effervescent, even offering to drive us to the wedding (!!!) when my lady's car gave up the ghost. While we were able to arrange alternate transportation, that spontaneous and generous offer really helps highlight the Our Place experience. We stayed in the 'Jazz Room', a very clean and comfortable space, and lounged around on the chairs outside in the sun. The inclusion of a copy of the board game 'Clue' in the side-cabinet was an especially nice touch. Privacy was ensured by a locking inner door and separate entrance to the guest suites. The only thing that remains to be praised is the breakfast, praise is greatly deserves. Grand Marnier-infused French toast with orange zest, home-made muffins, fresh yoghurt over summer strawberries and a wide selection of juices - along with the stimulating and wide-ranging morning conversation - made the morning meal a gastronomic and intellectual delight. And all this for the very reasonable price of $110/night. We figured that breakfast alone was worth $30-$40, leaving the price of the room per person down to around $35-$40 - numbers that even MC Hammer can touch.

Walter and Haideh (pronounced like "Heidi") are the hosts, and are friendly, funny, and know how to make you feel comfortable and welcome. As dog lovers, we also had the chance to play with their two retrievers, Tip and Pocos. (We spent far too much time on the beach, throwing tennis balls into the surf, and watching the dogs race after them and bring them back.) Don't miss the food! Haideh and Walter use many local ingredients to create tasty meals for you. (I really enjoyed the zucchini jam, and the herb-mixture that Haideh used on the eggs!) The B&B can be a bit difficult to find -- be sure to bring your GPS. But it is well worth the trip! Plan to spend several days there -- once you begin to relax, you really won't want to leave too soon!

Hot tub, large bed, feather pillows, amazing tub for two, excellent hosts, Haideh and Walter, two friendly retrievers (Pocos and Tip) as friends! It was wonderful. Walter's breakfasts were delicious and creative, Haideh's passion for a "shot of health" juice in the morning, the interesting conversations in the morning... such a wonderful stay. The house is decorated with the eclectic eye of a world traveler, the VHS collection and the VCR in the bedroom was a hilarious and entertaining throwback, Walter's spontaneous singing while he tends the kitchen - all of these character elements make this place a pleasant and very comfortable departure from the norm. Lastly, while arranging this surprise weekend for us, my fiancée noted to them that we were planning our stay as a way of celebrating our recent engagement and rather than reply with "we're closed for the season" - they opened up their home for us in the off-season. We only found this out later during breakfast on the second day.... and they were quite modest about the fact. They simply stated "it was too special an occasion to *not* have us stay." It was a touching cap to the stay. We'll be back for certain.
