A local appliance repair shop recommended to place a call to Coast Appliance Parts in Van Nuys. From the first time I called, Gale was all about customer service, impressive! Provided the part number I was seeking and answered all my questions. First, I got the impression not too many ladies walk in on the shop to buy washer machine parts. No special treatment I was treated like the rest of the guys. Love it! Their professionalism and friendliest was genuinely. The value per package for these parts were less than ordering online. Got home replaced the Whirlpool Washer Agitator dog (4 pack) it was a simple fixed for less than $10.00 dollars. Ladies recommend ordering parts and doing business with this company. read more

Unfortunately we had to downgrade Coast Appliances in Van Nuys to a literal zero. They defrauded us by charging twice for an item that was already paid online. Never said anything about it - we drove all the way to the store to pick up the item, wifey signed, believing it was necessary to sign for pickup - and then, a month later, we see an additional charge on Amex. Very shady business practices. Go elsewhere if you can. read more

I called Coast appliance parts 10 minutes before 1 PM and was greeted by a woman named Cheryl who immediately had a negative tone to her voice and was begrudgingly answering my questions regarding a replacement part for my refrigerator. After asking for her help to find the serial number for my fridge she requested, she gave me vague directions and when silent on me when I asked questions to help guide me to find the number. Once I did find the number on the invoice, I proceeded to give it to her for her only to tell me it was incorrect and didn't prompt me that I was missing three digits that I later found. She remained completely unpleasant, I found the additional three numbers and at 1PM while I'm still on hold she proceeded to hang up the call even though she told me to hold while she looked for my part. I called back and all the lines were telling me it was outside of office hours. What a horrible experience to have and what disregard for me for not even having the courtesy to tell me it's near 1 PM and I'd have to call back on the next business day. This appliance part company must not want our business. Cheryl should not have a job in customer service. read more

How is this place any good at all? They don't have a direct phone number, but only a number to "Telemarketing", so once you call you're going to be spammed forever. I was looking for a refrigerator part and maybe installation. However, I'm not going to deal with a telemarketer for this. I find it hardtop believe for a mainstream Frigidaire high end fridge sold in Best Buy and Home Depot that I have to drive to the ghetto of Van Nuys to get a $50 replacement filter. Basically major appliance dealers sell the fridge not not the filter... However that makes sense you tell me. But alas the corporate monster via automated teller led me to gangland Van Nuys to get this part. Waited like a tool for 15 minutes as 2 employees on the phone were too pompous to even say "I'll be with you in a second..." - I had also called about an hour before. Long story short these guys are dealing with landlords and people buying in bulk so like many reviews have stated they don't give a flying 'you know what' about some residential customer wanted a part twice a year. They take AmEx which was nice but I'll be looking for somewhere else to order my filters. read more

This place is kinda getting a bad rap from a few commenters, I think. I'm not a fake, just a guy with a broken dishwasher rack, and I had an A+ experience start to finish. Here it is: That stupid little piece of plastic on the back of the upper rack in my dishwasher broke, and in the past several days my wife, children and I have nearly shattered a dozen glasses that hang precariously by a thread when you pull the rack forward. Okay. Amazon Prime to the rescue, right? Apparently finding just the right piece that will actually get here in two days (which is pushing it anyway--'when's the dishwasher going to be fixed again?' has become a constant refrain around here) is a lot easier said than done. I actually found one that was supposed to work, I ordered it and it arrived, then didn't fit in spite of ten solid minutes of sweat and swearing that would make Ralphie's dad from A Christmas Story proud. Okay, so... local options? I found Coast pretty quickly in spite of some of the crap reviews on here, located the part using a combination of pictures, staring at the broken part, and some google wizardry--the website suggested this store had one in stock, I called, got the main Coast switchboard (after like 11 rings, just be patient, instant-gratification-people!)--she saw the same as I did on the website, said 'hold on, lemme check and see if they have it in Van Nuys,' came back in about 90 seconds and verified it would be on hold for me at will call, and couldn't have been sweeter. So I drive to the store, wait in line about 5 mins, the dude finds my will call part immediately, we shoot the shit about weekend plans as he rings me up, and I'm on my merry way. Oh, and, the price of the stop I got here was 25% cheaper than the one that didn't work (and I couldn't return) from Amazon. They even had a free coffee machine. So until Amazon flies me a latte with my order on one of those drones they've been teasing, next time my fill-in-the-blank-appliance breaks, Coast it is. Moral of the story, do your homework, call ahead, treat people the way you'd want to be treated, and walk away smilin'. Honestly, what more could you ask for? read more

He said he was ordering this part and would need the money up front. He never ordered the part, I gave him the money and he's irate that I'm upset. I think that Coast is the one who screwed me. Fast, easy, and beat the Amazon price by one dollar! After discovering that Lowe's sells Maytag/Whirlpool machines, yet carries no replacement parts (argh), I found Coast Appliance Parts. I called before I went in to buy a new assembly latch to repair my old dishwasher. The woman who answered was very polite and efficient. I took the broken part to be sure I was getting an appropriate replacement. Street parking was ample and easy. I was second in line, and still got out of there in less than 10 minutes. I needed a part for my squeaking 16 year old Maytag dryer. They had it in stock, they looked at the idler arm assembly and said all I needed was the roller since the arm was still good. No up selling, just giving me great advice. I actually but a belt for the dryer from Coast 2 years ago and remembered it being a pleasant experience and that is why I went back again today. Since I had the dryer already disassembled, I decided to replace the front and rear felt gaskets as well, and they had those in stock as well. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I needed a couple of parts for a six-year-old fridge. The labels inside the fridge were illegible and I couldn't really tell what Model number the fridge was (I was going to order the parts on line) so I took a photo of the label into Coast. Parking was easy, there was very little wait, the guys had a pretty good attitude, the did some sleuthing and were able to find the parts... I ordered them, they showed up and things went as smoothly when I picked them up a week later. None of this is magic, of course, but it's amazing how many businesses are less organized and have total asshoes dealing with the customers. These guys were pretty easy-going. They said if I had any issues with the parts fitting (it was a drawer and a door bin, not a mechanical piece), just bring them back for a refund. They called me when the parts came in... and from what little research I did on ebay and amazon, I don't think they dinged me much for the parts. read more

Fridge stopped working 2 days before Thanksgiving (eeek!) so we called an appliance repair company to check it out. Turns out we needed to replace a motherboard and the tech quoted $530 for the part and $140 for labor. So I called this company to see how much the part really costs and low and behold, bought the part myself for $232 instead. They didn't have it in stock but they had it sent over the following day and told me to come after 1p. I did exactly that and then had the appliance company do only the install. I had them special order a part for my refrigerator after the manufacturer informed me that the only way to get the part I needed was to go through Cost Appliance Parts. They made me pay up front over the phone for them to special order the part. This made a bit uncomfortable because I hadn't done business with them before. But I went ahead and gave them my card information and two weeks later they called and told me the part was ready. I went by and the part was there waiting for me. Went there to get a Hot Surface Ignitor for stove. From what I can tell, this business prefers to work with "appliance techs" and not the general public. There was a white haired man who assisted me and he was not friendly nor helpful. When I had removed the old Ignitor, I had broken one of the ceramic wire nuts that bind the electrical wires. When we opened the box for the new part, there were no replacement wire nuts. Typically, from what I understand, they come with the ignitor. The salesman comment was "Well, I guess this ONE doesn't". Okay ... do you have one that you can give me? His replay was to try and sell me a big bag of 50 for $21.00 !!! I tried to be calm and nice and asked again nicely. He wanted to know whether I wanted to buy the bag or not. Thanks for nothing friend. I was able to get two ceramic wire nuts from another appliance store for free ... because they always keep some around. Anyway, I'll certainly drive further out of my way and to avoid using Coast Appliance Parts in Van Nuys. They obviously get enough wholesale business and do not seem to enjoy assisting or selling to the retail public. Happy to oblige. read more

I will go back there again for sure! I am not a professional repair guy, but the guy at the counter sure helped me out so that I was able to get my dryer working again. With Coast's help, a little time and elbow grease, I was saved from dishing out over $1000 at Home Depot or some other appliance store for a new machine. The people at Coast are knowledgeable, and customer oriented. They have earned my business, and I hope they continue to do what they are doing for a long time. I was a long time customer I repair my own property. I know the value of seeing the "new part compared to the old part" in person. It takes a brick and motor location to provide that service that adds costs. I am/was willing to drive 20 miles round trip and pay a premium for that service. I had already done my due diligence and researched the part including expected prices, part numbers shipping time and was willing to pay the in-store price premium, to see the product before purchase. Then I called Coast Parts Van Nuys last week to find if Coast had the part in stock in VN and what their price was washing machine. The call was answered by an employee named Gale/Gail?. During the call, an abrupt change in attitude occurred when I mentioned I was self-repairing the washer via Youtube and blogs. I was dismayed when he bluntly to paraphrase (said in a tone of voice to imply disdain/disgust) "it is people like you/them that ruin my/our business" the price is $X. I noted that was a high price; he then said; paraphrased "too bad that was his price sometimes they are good sometimes they are not". I was insulted and disrespected as a consumer and as a person by the overtly timed price increase but especially by his disparaging statements regarding self-repair people. Coast represents via their employees' this perspective on their industry/business as being undermined by those who dare to self-repair. The price is not the only or main issue it is an inexpensive part to start with, it is the blatant disrespect. I called Coast corporate to explain my dismay over the experience this morning. My question was; is this company policy or was the employee just having a bad day? Disparaging self repair customers. The call at their corporate office was answered by Frank who sounded cranky and half asleep this morning. I asked to speak to owner/president he wanted to send me VM. I said I wanted to speak to someone now if possible before I post my experience online without hearing the corporate office position. He then said I was "threatening" him. I asked to speak to someone else. He said he would transfer me to the "manager" I said Ok. He transferred my call from the corporate office back to the store I had the bad experience with. Then only to have "Gale" answered. After I few words he had no idea who I was or why I called or was transferred to him, the very person that I called corporate about. I called back again to corporate to express concern about what I just again experienced; they took my number. Coast did call back; the owner? Robin called to express her insincere patronizing shallow pathetic apology for the "alleged" way I was treated. Just another example of poor customer/business expertise at Coast Appliance Repair and just the way they do business. Stay away from Coast Appliance Repair. Buy online from a reputable source; cheaper faster no disrespect and maybe even a "thank you for your business" reply. read more

I see Coast gets some mixed reviews, but my experience with them today was a 5 star one. I spoke with Gale (a man -- I hope I'm spelling his name correctly), and he was courteous and helpful. He looked up the parts that I told him I needed, and located them at their Culver City location. He called the Culver City store and they set them aside for me. When I got there, they had the parts waiting and were expecting me -- as opposed to being confused and asking me stupid questions like who placed the order, what parts did I want, etc. The price was even less than I expected -- I'd call it a bargain. The parts fit correctly, I stopped into the Un-urban Cafe on the way home for a cup of turkey chili and a smoothie, my dryer is back together and no longer scattered across my kitchen floor, and the thing never worked better or quieter. Apparently it doesn't take much to please me other than a repair going smoothly, because I am currently happier than a pig in sh1t. Now if I can just get the Sloan Flushmate to work correctly in the GF's downstairs bathroom . . . read more
