Showed up today to the appointment 30 minutes early only to get a phone call while I was sitting in the parking lot to tell me that they were going to give me a teledoc visit as the Dr that accepts my insurance isn't in on Fridays. Did you think to verify that when I shared my insurance? Nope. I drove 30 minutes to their office each way. If this is how they treat you on the first visit, what sort of customer service can one expect in the future? After moving to the area, I took my time finding a dentist. My teeth are well maintained and I pride myself in my smile. I received this welcome to get an offer for a number of free items for New Patients that I've attached an image of. I decided to go with Coast Dental even though my gut was telling me not to. When I got there, they needed X-rays so they took more X-rays than any of my previous dentists office. Also the hygienist said you HAVE to HAVE the panoramic XRAY which won't be covered by your insurance. I asked why is it needed and she basically stated that the dentist needed it for cleaning. I said that sounds ridiculous that he needs to see down to the bone for a basic cleaning which is what I've always had. I said NO and finally she was like ok. Then I asked for my free items from the coupon and she said 'Oh, that doesn't apply if you have insurance. So you can't can't get any of the free items.' I mentioned that there is no where on the coupon that mentions that and she said my manager said 'We can't honor the coupon from you unless you don't have insurance.' Always kind and patient. A different dentist quoted me over $12,000 and left me scared, but Coat Dental quoted me only $2,500 and reassured me my teeth were no were near that bad. Very reassuring. Also, I said I need extra numbing on my left side because it's sensitive, and they didn't argue with me at all--they listen to and believe their patients. Almost always spot on time (only once we're they 20 mins behind), and they've only cancelled for valid reasons (death in dentists family). Now, the actually dental rooms aren't very modern, but that doesn't bother me. I'd rather save 10 grand and sit in a lacklustre room than pay all that extra to sit in a modernised office. read more

I went in for a new patient appointment and was given an extensive exam by Nakia, who was great, but then the teledentist "recommended" an aggressive level of preventive care that I did not want. I was told that in the state of Florida they could not clean my teeth unless I consented to the expensive treatment I'm pretty sure I do not need. The purpose seemed to be to upsell me on the highest level of their "Smiles" plan. My husband and I walked out. We will be looking for a second opinion and a practice that does not feel as though it is trying to scam us. With my insurance you have to pick a dentist when you sign up for the plan. I picked Dr Thann Le, and then made an appt with her. When I made the appt, they didn't say she was no longer in their practice, they lead me to believe that's who I'd be seeing. I get to my appt and THEN I find out she left the practice a couple months earlier so I'd be seeing Dr Basily (who doesn't have the word 'conservative' in her vocabulary). A month after my appt they text to say I owe an extra $5 because I didn't set Basily as my dentist with my insurance. THAT'S BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS SEEING LE!! I told them I'm not paying because it's your receptionists fault for not telling me when I booked Thann Le wasn't there. Had she, I would've been able to contact the insurance prior to my appt to switch names. AGAIN, THEIR FAULT! Do not nickel and dime your patients when this is clearly on you! After your $$$$!! Beware I was a new patient, but filled out my paperwork before I got there. I waited over an hour past my appointment time to be seen. Other patients had come and gone well before I was taken back. The waiting room was rough. Chairs were torn up and it was generally dirty. The X-ray tech was amazing... the only reason it gets two stars. She was patient and kind. The dentist couldn't have cared less and spent less than 5 mins looking at my teeth. I don't even think he greeted himself. He kept trying to sell me on a cosmetic procedure (chipped tooth) even after I declined. He then started on the last next to me, as she's screaming during her extraction. I could see the whole thing. The dentist kept saying to her "sorry, nothing I can do". It was horrible. The hygienist checked my gums. 95% was in her "normal" range as she explained to me. Regardless of that I HAD to get a "deep clean" done. For $200!!! when I asked why it was so expensive I was told that my insurance won't cover it but they gave me discounts. When I asked to only have a regular cleaning that my insurance will cover they refused. The sales woman pressured me, telling me that i would pay triple that if I knew how bad my teeth were. I went to this place for a chipped tooth quote. They did a "comprehensive" exam and then told me my insurance would cover it. They didn't. They told me I needed almost 2 grand in dental work, which included a "deep clean" with antibiotics that would cost $60 PER TOOTH for antibiotics. When I told them that wasn't feasible they looked at me like a grew a horn. I did agree to schedule the deep clean which was going to be 350ish out of pocket. I paid 100 that day. When I arrived for my scheduled cleaning, they didn't have me in the book. I asked for a refund for the $100 I already paid. She told me it had to come from corporate. She wrote my card number down on scrap paper and told me she would put in a request. She couldn't give me any time of verification. Today I get a call that I would not be getting a refund and that I owed 20 more dollars because my insurance didn't cover the exam. ( they cover periodic exams but not comprehensive exams) which I understand, but then why wasn't that disclosed at the beginning. So now I'm having to pay 120 for them to tell me I need a deep cleaning. Why did they tell me the number my insurance would cover, if my insurance doesn't even cover that type of exam?! However, this place was on their list they don't care about Insurance all they care about is getting the most money out of your pocket. My elderly mother came home almost crying after spending 3 hours at this place. They did X-rays using the cardboard cards and she said it was the most painful procedure she's ever experienced! Believe me, my mother is tough as nails, so it must have been bad. I am a patient of the Springhill FL office. over the past year I have had 2 bridges replaced at a cost of $5,000 plus. I paid in full for last bridge in March. Bridge was delayed due to virus (finalized in June). My insurance has since paid $1195. towards bridge. 7-01-2020. I have a credit on my account of $1185. The front desk staff did not know how to credit this back to credit card. After numerous calls she directed me to the Corporate office. I have contacted them at least 6 times leaving messages. To date no one has bothered to call me back. I also left a message on Judy Raphael (District Manager) voice mail and have not received a call back. This is regarding impacted wisdom teeth removal. Dr. Dale Salomon's attitude towards patients is completely uncalled for. He gets annoyed at the first sight of pain and will bluntly tell you that dramatics don't go well with doctors. He has no compassion or patience whatsoever. "Pain is mental" is what he'll say as he walks out of your appointment (which was already late due to the staff not having the Valium prescription ready days prior). The whole staff, mostly female, walk on egg shells around him. I will never go back to this place - if I wanted to be treated like an animal I could've just gone to a third world country. The Company has repeatedly cancelled my appointments since December 2020. I scheduled an appointment in person at the their Riverview location a month and a half ago, I was given an appointment card, a new patient package (I switched locations), and I provided them with my insurance/ID. Yesterday, I noticed I hadn't received a confirmation text/email. I called and Roxy, the office manager, expressed their system was down, but if I had an appointment I was good. I went today, the receptionist told me I needed to be reschedulEd because their xray machines are down. I expressed I was also an orthodontist patient at their office and I should have xrays on file. I also had a X-rays sent over from my oral surgeon. Roxy then said I never had an appointment to begin with. I showed her my appointment and I showed her the receptionist who scheduled me. The Dentist, an African Americsn man (DDS), said my ortho Chart was missing and I didn't have bite xrays, so they'd have to reschedule. This is after an hour of waiting after being told they'd squeeze me in. Roxy then attempted to schedule me out on November 7, 2021-- it's September 15, 2021. They have cancelled appointments on me at least a half dozen times because of no dental hygienists available. Their billing is 9 months behind treatment making it extremely difficult to follow and understand if you have paid or not paid for services already. Attempting to use their website is non responsive and try to call them and get an intelligent person speaking reasonably well has been a nightmare. I started my braces with Coast Dental about a year ago. I moved and had been trying to get my location changed for 3 months and nothing happened. I got a call the other day that they were planning to cancel my treatment and I still need them to transfer me to a different location. Since I started treatment I have been very upset with this office. They got a new orthodontist and he was great, but when trying to call to make appointments or get informations they rush you off the call and overall don't help. Sometimes I would call 3 days in a row and no one would answer the phone. Hard to get in contact with someone when the Orthodontist refuses to give you her contact information. These people put braces on my kid, then he popped a wire. It took me 10 business days to reach the Orthodontist, a multitude of messages and finally had threaten them with a lawyer. By then, I was done and requested services be terminated and the braces were taken off. But wait, they still charged my account $150. My file is now in an "audit", which is code for "we're never going to talk to you again". This is the WORST customer service I have ever experienced in my life. I called to make an appointment for a cleaning, I was told they needed to do an initial visit then the cleaning. They said they would "try" to schedule it at the same time. My appointment was 6 weeks out, the day before Thanksgiving. A couple days before my appointment I was called to reschedule because the doctor decided to take a few extra days off... The receptionist said the soonest available appointment was at the end of January or I could be on the cancellation list. I opted for the cancellation list, it only took a couple weeks and I had 1st appointment of the morning at 8:30. The receptionist asked that I arrive a little earlier to fill out paperwork. I arrived at 8:15, filled out my paperwork by 8:20 and waited patiently. I was called in at 8:52. How do you expect to be on time when the first appointment of the day is starting late! The dental hygienist was competent and friendly, took xrays and did what she had to do. That part was good. The dentist came in for 2 minutes, went through the xrays and left. The hygienist went over the "suggested procedure" with me. They recommended some deep cleaning on a couple teeth. Not something I wanted to get done. I was escorted back up front to schedule my cleaning because they could not do it at the same time. The receptionist now told me the doctor was taking 3 weeks off and the office was closed, I could go on the cancellation list or make an appointment in February (2 months away). I once again chose the list. Today I get a call, an appointment available this afternoon! Great, just to confirm I'm doing just a regular cleaning without the deep cleaning is what I told the receptionist. She replied they could not only do that because the doctor recommended a deep cleaning. I explained that I understood what the doctor recommended but I did not want to pay for it, I only wanted a regular cleaning... Her reply to me was" it would be like bringing your car car to the car wash and only having water sprayed on it and not being cleaned" This deep cleaning was over $200 that I wasn't willing to pay for.
