I wish I read these reviews before I booked my appointment because I agree with all the negative ones. I just moved to the area and went to my previous dentist every 6 months. But suddenly, after visiting Coast Dental and getting x-rays done, I have periodontal disease and need a "deep" cleaning and antibiotics. When I requested, more than once, to just have a regular cleaning, they refused. Yes, they refused. So I left and will find another, more caring, dentist who doesn't try to get me to agree to services that aren't necessary. And there is no dentist on site to examine you; the dentist comes up on screen and only goes by what staff is telling them. Stay away from this place! read more

Had to fillings put in where I had cavities three weeks later both fillings fell out. The doctor got upset telling me with a raised voice that I told you you need a tooth pulled you haven't had the tooth pulled. What the heck do you want me to do with you and I looked at him and said they had the tooth pulled two months ago. The people are very nice but they seem to have a lot of openings lately and their references aren't too good. read more

if I could rate this place a zero I would this place has no care for its and all the staff there is very rude. My wife went in there for a simple tooth extraction. They told her she deep cleaning and that she had multiple cavities new x-rays because they wouldn't accept our x-rays from a dental place in Colorado. I understand the x-rays, but when you try to push things on what I don't like. My wife had just the deep cleaning about a month ago and they told her they didn't do a good job that she needed another one with to charge her an extra told her she needed a root canal when she didn't want a root canal. All she wanted was an extraction, but they insisted that they were not going to extract her tooth that they only do root canals, which to my knowledge they are way more expensive than a regular tooth extraction avoid this place at all cost. I had and x ray and they had to do it 4 times. I'm 6ft 5 and after the third time I suggested sitting in a chair so the xray machine would finally fit me. When I sat in the exam chair I looked around and saw a dead roach in the corner of the floor. Definitely the dirtiest dental office I've ever been to. The dentist came in and pulled the light they use and the bulb was out. He told me it's been out for weeks. Asked me to open wide and he had a bugger in his nose ready to fall out! Seriously !!! Then they told me I owed $67! My insurance was to cover and they still haven't worked it out. If I hit the lotto 2 weeks in a row, I still wouldn't give them a dime. If I can give this place a 0 I would. What a scam! They take your xrays through your insurance and then they come up with a cleaning that they say is extensive and you have to out of pocket money. Ridiculous! I get my teeth cleaned every 6 months . I left and would not succumb to their scam of charging me more money. Insurance covers all but they want more from the patient. BE AWARE of this place. And they do not tell you that a physical Dentist will not see you . You actually have the dentist pop up on a TV screen in front of you. HE does not look into your mouth and he only trusts the work of his employees. What a joke! We have dental insurance, but we still had to sign up for care credit to cover what our insurance doesn't.

Finally, I have given up on this place. I have gone there for over 10 years and every year the service gets worse. They cannot keep a hygienist to stay there very long. About two years ago they started to not have an attending dentist on site. The corporate office has the hygienist add on all additional charges i.e. extra irrigation, numbing gel etc... They torture you with constant text messages asking if you're coming to your appointment. I just received another message for my appointment this morning and yesterday and I responded yes that I was coming for my appointment which is tomorrow morning. Then and hour later I received a text message which said, sorry to say we have no provider tomorrow reschedule. read more

What a horrible place this is! My daughter and I went as new patients and we were told when I made the appointments that we would just have cleanings, exam, and x-rays done first time which was fine. We just switched dentists and only a a few months behind cleanings. They stated that we both needed a special gum cleaning that was not covered by insurance and I agreed to my daughter's and I and got hers done. I had to come back another day to do mine, but I decided not to do it and pay $109!! I don't have that kind of money to just spend on a special cleaning they say I must have. They refused to change it to a regular cleaning and told me I had to get the special gum cleaning first to be able to proceed. I told them to just cancel my daughter and I out completely then. How disgusting is that?! That is not right to do to your patients. That screams money hungry to me and I will surely find another dentist under my insurance. What a horrible way to practice and call yourselves professionals after being diagnosed by your virtual dentist and the hygienist stating I needed the gum treatment and they also gave me a referral to see an endodontist for a tooth I already had a root canal on. The people who work here are nice, the hygienist's do a good job, but the problem was that one of the men who helps take X rays of your mouth smokes and when he's adjusting the films it feels like an ash tray moving around in your mouth. The office is filthy, the equipment is falling apart. The whole place needs a serious update. A dentist office can be an uncomfortable place for most and this office does not help in anyway shape or form. My insurance expanded and I can finally never come back to this place! I've said it for the last 2 years. Why is there 5 shades of different colors on the wall? Why not just repaint the whole wall instead of patching it? Started up here in December, and have had 3 appointments. Very happy with the service and the people. I have never waited more than 5 minutes after arriving. Everyone, the hygienist, assistant, Dentist, and office people are very friendly A word about them suggesting services, you can always just say no. Everyone has a different lever of oral hygiene. The worst front desk Ever! The women there were rude and quite mean in fact, as I bared witness while waiting for my appointment. A lady, also waiting for her appointment, was berated and near to crucified as the front desk workers all ganged up on her till she simply left without reason to stay for her appointment. The lady maintained her composure and politely made her exit after there refusal to honor the type of appointment made for her. From what I could hear the lady had made an extra long appointment to have some extensive work done but the front desk told her all she could have done were x-rays. The lady explained she just had them done the last time she was there and that's when all the women started to gang up on her and in front of other patients, like myself, who btw has changed dentists because of what I was forced to bare witness to that day. If you are considering this dental facility I would highly recommend that you look around a bit more to find one who's staff wishes to represent their employers better and in a much more dignified manor, treating their clients with respect and appreciation. We went to the Inverness, FL location. We were so impressed with this office. From the moment we stepped in - all the staff was extremely friendly, efficient and proficient. We had a great time joking with the receptionists. Our first visit included xrays - it was done very quickly and easily. My husband and I had different technicians and they were both great. We had to schedule a 2nd appointment for our cleanings and that was about 6 weeks out. But we were put on a cancellation list and the office has called us at least 5 times to get us in earlier and it just hasn't worked for our schedule. But they keep trying and they are so kind every time. We are extremely pleased we found this office! Great job everyone! read more

Charged for procedure not performed and they would not correct billing..very unprofessional.Will not use again due to fraidulent billing

The dentist did a good job. Most of the staff encountered did a good job. However, there was a major problem with billing. When we arrived we both made it crystal clear that our dental insurance would be lapsing in ten days. They acknowledged this and indicated they would bill for the portion of services provided on this day (my wife spent over an hour with the dentist getting examined, x rays, and having multiple impressions made to replace an implant). They indicated that they would bill for the service immediately but neglected to do so. As a result nothing was paid by our insurance so it cost us 2200 instead of 1000. When we came back to have the implant installed (a relatively small procedure that took only fifteen minutes) we were told that insurance had declined to pay anything. They casually asked for another 1200 bucks as if that was nothing. When we raised this issue with the office manager she was rude and adamant that their staff was unaware of the timing issue (we both told the staff member together). She also said that the problem was ours because not all insurance paid for services until the tooth was delivered. I asked her why, if this was such a regular practice, that they didnt at least advise us that this might happen? She flatly refused to accept they should have told us and just said it was our fault for not knowing the details of our insurance. There was no attempt to work with us at all. Although the dentist was good, we would never go back here again as they clearly are all about making money and not providing good service. read more

I was in the chair for an hour and 35 minutes and walked away with the highest quotes for very questionable services I did NOT ask for. This place is all about up-selling. Antiquated imaging services and patched gray duct tape on some equipment in the exam room...red flags everywhere! Staff seemed to have worked in the time share industry and sales, the way they pitched high $ procedures. I had a dental emergency and was in from out of town. A cavity I put on the back burner finally started hurting pretty terribly and I had a funeral to go to and a return flight to make in a few days. Sue, one of the front office staff made sure to chastise me over how long it took me to get down to their office (I had to secure childcare for my kids before I could be seen and I did make that clear on the phone). They did get me back very quick however, and the Doctors dental assistant was kind and friendly. Doc himself however was not. He was curt and a mansplainer. "Think you can just put a hat on a sunburn and that'll fix it?" When I told him I had been super diligent about brushing and flossing because of that cavity. Oh and he also chastised me for wearing lip gloss to the visit-MY LIPS WERE CHAPPED. He said my only option was a $1000.00 immediate root canal, that I'd never be able to fly home with it the way it was and take the pressure in my mouth, no other options, end of story. I explained I had dental insurance that only worked in my home state. I asked for a temporary filling and if he could clean it out for me. He refused. Stated that root canal or an extraction would be my only option to stop the pain. Gave me a script for antibiotics turn proceeded to tell me to take 800 milligrams if ibuprofen EVERY FOUR HOURS until I was able to get home and get it fixed as I sat in his chair overcome with pain, tears rolling down my cheeks. Number one, those are undeniably toxic levels of ibuprofen that will kill your liver and give you terrible stomach problems and number two they did nothing to curb the pain I was in! I called back out of sheer desperation and agreed to postpone my trip and get the root canal and was told I would have to wait for the morning to even schedule it if it was possible for the next day. I spent all night in agony, called to schedule the next morning and was told same day was only possible if I came in right then. Again, I was traveling with my two children and had to secure childcare, it would have to wait another day, I don't have a magical childcare fairy. I switched and paid for changes to all of our plane tickets to stay for the $1000.00 procedure (that I could have gotten at home for half) called back and informed the office staff my pain wasn't going to make it to morning for my procedure and could the doctor please call something in, which was again refused and met with "ibuprofen". Oh, and they also mentioned he wouldn't have time to do the full root canal because he was sneaking me in. I said. "I thought that was my only option?" The office manager stumbled (clearly he could have gotten by with the pulp treatment for $150.00 but wanted to upsell me a damn root canal!) I called them on their deception and also told them their bedside manner sucked and would find another dentist. I had paid for an exam and an x-ray, there was no denying the help I needed. The other reviews are right, this dentist is out to make money and could care less about patient care. Whatever happened to "first do no harm"? I suffered for no reason because of some cocky mansplainer who suggested I just take one of my mom's Vicodin rather than take the time to call something in for me? HELLO? Illegal much? Beware that the dental professionals here are 25% clinician and 75% salesman. Even for someone who has no issues (never had a cavity in my life) I was offered a $60 cancer screening, had to pay a $5 serialization fee, and duped into buying a fluoride rinse that stained my teeth and my next dentist found completely not necessary. My wife and I went to this dental clinic after having some changes with our dental insurance. The first thing that we noticed was that they kept trying to sell us expensive products and additional services that were not covered. Also they tried to up sell our cleanings to deep cleanings too. We had been to our regular dentist before the insurance change and we knew that we didn't need these up charged services. Furthermore, our regular dentist confirmed that this extra services were not warranted after the appointments. I had walked out to speak to him about the non covered deep cleaning that the tech had told me he had ordered. When I found him smoking out front of the building, I asked him about this matter in a non threating manor he wouldn't answer me. We ending up leaving this place and then he sent me a registered letter that attempted COA by saying that we were not allowed there again. I reported this incident to my insurance company. Don't waste your time. This last cancellation was the last straw. They weren't able to get ahold of me on my cell, but didn't bother to call my home telephone number. She acted impertinent and unapologetic stating that they tried to get ahold of me. Gasp! Really! She gasped at me! Sure, they tried so hard. She then told me that I could sit in the waiting room and wait for my turn. Right, like I'm going to agree to that! I assumed they had a reason for cancelling. Isn't that a safe assumption? Maybe they overbooked or someone didn't show up. I am an understanding person; however, this wasn't the first time they have canceled on me. To make things worse, my daughter and I waited close to a year to be seen for a first time appointment. In my opinion, they get away with this because they're one of the very few places that accept medicaid. That also explains the overbooking. You will not find any accountability here. I am giving one star here only because I have to. The only redeeming thing about this office is Shaina (sorry if I misspelled). What a sweet woman. This dentist confirmed the stereotype that most dentists nowadays are used car salesmen with some form of degree, and that proper dental care is only for those who can afford such a luxury. I came into the office in some pretty bad pain from a threatening abscess. I am a local medical professional, not from out town like Jesse, but I could tell by her review that she had the same "doctor" as me and I had pretty much the same indifferent care, if you can call what I received actual care. I am in my late 50s and was chastised, told that I didn't know how to brush my teeth because my parents never taught me, was given all types of platitudes about washing a cancer sore out with water, hat on a sunburn, and told that if he was to help me it would be to the tune of a $2500 root canal, or an extraction, which he was not interested in doing. I guess extractions are "beneath" him. Where's the money in that? I was in so much pain I could not believe I was being forced to listen to a lecture on how a Sonicare and Listerine are some of the worse things I could possible do for my teeth, I was destroying my own mouth out of ignorance ... on and on. It was awful. But since he had worked me in, he didn't have time to talk to me about proper dental care and treatment planning. I paid $117 for a clindamycin prescription (which I could have gotten with a simple phone call to my own doctor), a tiny X-ray of the offending tooth that I was not allowed to take with me and a 30 minute lecture on what basically boiled down to how ignorant I am. But I am not ignorant to believe I can take 800 mg ibuprofen every fours hours for the next four days. Is he for real? THE MAN NEVER ONCE EVEN LOOKED INSIDE MY MOUTH! He didn't even put on a glove. Once I said I could not presently afford a root canal he was finished with me and got even more offensive and condescending. He replied, "How do you know you can't afford it? I haven't even told you how much yet!". I let him know I'd had several, the last of which was seven years ago and I couldn't imagine they had gone down in price since then. With that, he was done. He referred me to an oral surgeon and went off to his next victim. Now I may not know much, but I do know that I will never darken Coast Dental door again. After such poor treatment I would never consider them to be my dental provider. I could never trust a "professional" who thinks TWICE the daily maximum of a medication for four days is safe and "no big deal". read more

I have been going to Dr Kokkas and two/three dental assistants at this office for about 10 years. At first I had to wait a long time for my cleaning appointment to get established. Once in though, I was pleased and always have been. They have kept a close eye on a couple of teeth I have had root canals on for several years. I awakened to an absess on one of them today, the gum was very swollen and painful. I was there at 9AM this morning and they got me in to see the dentist first thing when he arrived. He gave me antibiotics to calm the tooth down and gave me many options for when it is calmed but all in all, at 70 yrs old for a tooth that has had two root canals on it and two crowns (at another dentist office prior to this one), we discussed it and I scheduled a time for an extraction in two weeks. I am going on a trip shortly and needed to be seen immediately (it is a Friday) for antibiotics and they did just what I needed today before the absess is really out of control. Great office staff as well. They are always kind to me. I would like to note that I have been to other dental offices which took my insurance over the years, and this is the first one (which is of a corporate type with multiple dentists) that the dentist has remained there the entire time. I have had two dental assistants in this period of time, except one for one other time when one of my regular ones was out sick. That is very reasonable, in my opinion. One of these dental assistants really talked to me about the importance in taking care of my gums, etc and it has made a huge difference in my "home care" routine... read more

Avoid!! When you first walk in the ladies in front are extremely friendly , a little too friendly. Got a root canal estimate came to 1k , so I set appt go in on the table for root canal , assistant hands me papers to sign the bill is now $1250 , he added a $250 bs charge without even explaining the increase. Its been 14 months after the root canal and now the tooth is rotting from inside and i'm going to have to have it pulled. Beware. read more
