Not sure what to think of Coast Dental. A family member just got a bill in the mail for "covid 19 personal protection equipment fee" for $10. I'm glad my supermarket, doctor's office, Bank, local restaurants, or anything else doesn't give a bill for this. If you are going to use this Dentist you need to verify if they are going to bill you the fee as well. They tried billing our dental insurance and they even rejected the fee and now want us to pay the fee. read more

Office staff among the worst I've encountered (second only to a different coast dental facility). They don't pick up the phone nor do they return calls (even after leaving 5 messages). Cancels appointments with little notice with no intent to get you rescheduled in a timely manner (I'm talking 3 months out). Cleanings are average - old school scraping-style, not ultrasonic. I rather like Dr. Windom and followed him to this practice but I think this might be endgame for me there unless there are some significant staffing changes. read more

I would be very reluctant to accept any services from this dental office. I do not believe they have ethical business practices and it seems they want to take as much money as they can despite a patient having good health insurance. After being in the office for two hours I left with no cleaning (which is what I had believed my appointment was for), painful gums from their poking, & a bill for services that would have totaled more than $1,200 dollars...and I have excellent dental insurance. They also told me I could not have a regular cleaning until I received 4 "deep cleanings" and had a cavity filled. Ended up finding another dentist who cleaned my teeth at the first appointment (which was fully covered by my insurance) and he informed me that my teeth were perfectly healthy and although I did in fact need a cavity filled I did not need a "deep clean." They have so far cleaned my teeth, replaced an old filling, took X-rays and filled a cavity and I have yet to pay over $100 total for all of these services. It's unfortunate in this day and age we have business' that continue to operate in the shade without consequence. read more

Do not go to this office! They general manager is rude. When i questioned her about she yelled at me. I informed her I wasn't yelling at her and asked her to stop. She refused to print out what the breakdown of the copayment was. Informed me the office changed their procedure and couldn't inform patients of the change because it took too much time. They can't keep staff and cancel your appointment constantly. read more

I can't say enough good things about Dr. John Windom and his assistant Esperanza. I'd dreaded going to the dentist today. Experiences with other dentists have left me very wary. I had to have an extraction, not a pleasant thought. Dr. Windom immediately put me at ease and explained the whole procedure that he would be doing. Then he assured of me that I would not be in pain during the procedure. He applied a small numbing agent and let me sit for a few minutes. When I was relaxed and could not feel the next injections, he started the procedure. Never felt a thing! After tooth was removed he sat with me and explained everything I would have to do for after care. He answered all my questions and followed up with written instructions. Business run like scam. Only 1-2 dentists actually work there but Provider books fraudulently have 40+ dentists listed for their address. because they "flood/spam" Provider directories, any customers in Ormond see them in the first several pages of results. my Humana book only shows first 40 results which are their address JUST thru letter K! Then it turns out the only dentist (Lofti) there is NOT included and rejected by Humana so the patients then get billed because they signed the form that they were resonsible for any unpaid bills by insurance (regardless of reason). ALSO, a permanent crown that was put in 12/13 came loose this past weekend, one month AFTER a dental checkup. I think the dentist Lofti intentionally worked the cap loose so it would require repair shortly thereafter. When I went in today about getting it reinstalled, they said because it was over a year old, I would have to pay as if it was a new cap, which I figure the crook was planning on doing rather than re-gluing the cap back in place. The checkup also said I needed root planing/deep cleaning which included ABSURD excessive charges like $150 for analgesic (ora-gel) and $200 for anti-bacterial rinse (listerine). This office is a blight to Ormond Beach and PREYS on retiree's who do not know the Provider directorys have been intentionally manipulated to get them into their door and then find out the insurance does not cover the dentist (lofti). This guy should be shut down and license revoked. he has scammed so many old people who do not realize they have a say or any control over who works on their teeth. read more

Not sure how a dental office that is an approved office for an insurance company can refuse to clean someone's teeth IF AND UNTIL a root planing and scaling is done for 1300.00 saying that the insurance covers a "healthy teeth cleaning." Not really sure what a healthy teeth cleaning is? Perhaps the insurance company will be able to explain why one of their approved vendors is refusing a service that is an approved service every 6 months but REQUIRING A SERVICE THAT IS NOT COVERED in order to GET THE APPROVED CLEANING ..hmmmm can we say CROOKS??? read more

This is the worst dental experience I have ever had! Rude and unprofessional office staff, waited an hour to be seen even though the office was empty and the dentist did a terrible job! This is an in network provider with my new insurance, so I thought I'd give it a try. This was supposed to be a simple cleaning and check-up and should have been covered by my insurance, but they charged me extra for a bunch of miscellaneous things and a "screening" without informing me! They were beyond rude when I asked them to explain the charges! Even after paying hundred of dollars when I should't have had to, my teeth and gums are so sore that now I have to find another dentist to make sure they didn't completely botch up my teeth and fix the mess they made. I was very dissatisfied with this dental office for my children! When we got to the office, they took my 8 year old daughter back and told me I was not allowed to come back there with her. I wasn't given any information. After inquiring at the front desk, she told me because of their insurance and OSHA regulations, I wasn't allowed back there with my child. I was then told they would have to refer me to a pediatric dentist for my 6 year old because I knew she wouldn't go back there with strangers. These were not friendly people!! After an hour, I finally went and asked the receptionist how much longer. My 8 year old child was kept behind closed doors away from me for over an hour!! I was finally allowed to go back there. The dentist hardly spoke to me. She didn't introduce herself. The only thing she spoke with me about was that my daughter would need to have a procedure done to seal her teeth to prevent cavities. Once outside, my daughter explained how she was ignored and left in a room to stare at the walls for an hour. She was very upset! I would ABSOLUTELY not recommend this office for your children!! Any dentist office I have been to in the past welcomed me or my husband to come with our children while they had their teeth cleaned. read more

Had the best experience of all time at a dentist office, if it were not for Faylynn I probably would have walked out the door. She was kind, and since it was her that scheduled my appointment already I felt we had a repore. Faylynn put me at ease, she was so professional, and I'm so grateful she called to remind me of my appointment, when she did she had such a personal tone, sometimes it's the little things like that , that can put your mind at ease, knowing when you get there that you are in good hands. I was nervous about my procedure, she talked me off the ledge in a sense, lol... the entire staff was so awesome. I chose the right dental family for me. Z was the best, she was so sweet, always making sure I was comfortable, the best at x rays, I normally gag , but she had a way where I didn't. Dr. Windom, was so AWESOME... he's a jokester..(plus not so bad on the eyes) he said this is probably going to hurt I'm not real good with shots, my eyes grew big and I got scared, yet, he had already administered the shot of numbing stuff in my gum , and I didn't even know it, he's good, and funny.. that made me laugh... and feel relieved, he took my mind off of the thing I was worried about, needles... so.. long story short, you want a good family dentist that will treat you like family. Go to Coast Dental in Ormond. Say hello to Faylynn, she's the best, what a great girl, Z in the chair, she is so cool, and Dr. Windom will take such great care of you, as well as the entire staff. read more

I highly recommend this practice. Dr. Mary Powell is outstanding! She spent so much time with me to make sure my crown fitted properly. Kathy is a fantastic hygienist- very gentle and thorough. Allie and Janice are so professional and helpful. It appears that things have changed recently in this practice. By far the MOST Un-Professional, Un-Ethical, careless, inconsistent, Un-Organized dental office ever! They Mis-scheduled me 5 times in one year, were rude to me about it. When I missed work to come in thinking I was going to get a dental cleaning. I wasn't scheduled, & over-heard the employees talking about the mixup, I got up and started asking questions and was cut off & one of the employees continued to talk over me. This is the worst run dentist office I've ever been too. The ladies here are all very rude and just plain have no clue. I got a bad impression right away when the X-ray lady brought me into the X-ray Room and said Hey that's me talking about her X-ray Tech degree on the wall like she wanted a congratulations or something. The x-rays hurt way more than they should of she kept putting the bite thing in my mouth wrong and having me bite down and then having to reposition it and reposition it and reposition it it's like he had no clue what she was really doing. Then she tried to sneak in a cancer screening for 60 extra dollars after I had told them that I'm trying to keep this visit as cheap as possible, Then she proceeded to make a huge deal out of me not getting this and had me sign a denial paper so I could deny the cancer screening. X-rays Took about 30 minutes which is way longer than It's ever taken me anywhere else. Then after that I saw the dentist which really was the only pleasant person at the office that I had contact with I have no complaints at all about the dentist too bad I only seen him for like 10 minutes the rest of the time you have to deal with the other staff which were the worst. Next came the dental hygienist she was very rough in my mouth poking my gums making them bleed way more than she possibly had to she could have went a lot slower and it wouldn't of hurt as much. At the end of that I had to pause for a second because my gums were hurting and they were bleeding the hygienist looked at me and said What's wrong she must've seen it in my face. I told her my gums were hurting and she proceeded to tell me it was all my fault really condescending like. So anyways after that They made a treatment plan for me because I needed a lot of things done. I'm not a rich person I work very hard for the money that I earn and have a family and a mortgage and I explained that to them when I got Their plan they made for me Because there was a few visits in the beginning that were very expensive almost a $1000 with my insurance. It stressed me out And I asked them if there was any way they could either skip that part of the plan or maybe split it up into more visits And they didn't like that and started getting huffy and puffy with me acting Like I was wrong for trying to figure out how to make it a little cheaper or how to spread out the cost over more time. While I was talking to the lady trying to get this figured out the other lady that works at the front desk when you walk in started yelling from around the corner that my insurance was no good and all it was was a discount plan really in a really loud voice very condescending. At this point I was starting to get very frustrated there's only so much you can take being treated horrible before it really gets to you. So I tried to ignore the lady yelling from around the corner that works the front desk and continued to try and Work out the problem that we were dealing with Well then I heard the lady in the front that works the front desk yell" just leave" so I left the next morning I Called the office so I could have my x-rays and pictures that they had taken emailed to my email address So I could take them to another dentist because I was never gonna go back to that office ever The lady that I talked to was the lady that was working the front desk when I was there and she told me that's no problem she'll have that taken care of. I thought to myself that that was too easy and it was because at the end of the day when I got off work I checked my email and I still had not received anything So I called the office one more time and asked them why I hadn't received anything and this time they told me that in order for me to get my x-rays I had to wait 48 hours and pay $25 When I talked to her in the morning she never said one thing about having to pay or having it take 48 hours. When I told the lady in the afternoon that the other lady from the morning that I talked to didn't say anything about having to pay she hung up on me. She hung up on me three more times before finally answering and giving me a huge attitude the names of them were shirley, esperanza, Sam, and I forgot the front desk ladies name but she was the worst out of them all. The office staff, with the exception of the girl in the very front, is SO rude and unprofessional. They tried to refer my son out to get teeth removed that he doesn't even have in his mouth! Then when we finally got in, the hygienist was abrasive and took one look at how bad my sons tooth has gotten and went to talk to the insurance lady. This lady comes in and says, oh the dr. just called and won't be back today. We'll have to reschedule. It's been over 2 weeks and no call. I called today to have his xrays sent to a different dentist and she told me he only had bite wings done. I was there when they were done and they did ALL the xrays. It's unfortunate because Dr. Windom is a really nice dentist, but I'll never go back and deal with that staff again. read more

We relocated from NJ and recently acquired Coast Dental of Ormond Beach after having a terrible experience with another very large dental practice. Coast Dental renewed our faith in dentist as the office staff, technicians and the dentist were and have been absolutely wonderful. They are very accommodating, timely with there appointments and explain everything thoroughly. My husband recently had some heavy duty dental work done and they even called the next day to see how he was feeling. They work within your insurance plan if you have one and if not they have plans to recommend to you as well as payment plans if needed. I would recommend them to all my friends and family. read more

I have gone to this office for 4 years. The dentist that I admired for his expertise and professional advice was Dr Jon Windom, who is longer there. He had excellent chair side manner and treated you like you were part of his family. He and His assistant Allie were the BEST team ever. Allie, is still there and is the most professional who cares and makes you feel comfortable and you know she is looking out for your health as if you were a family member. Always greets you with a smile and a positive attitude that they will help you and take good care of you. The only thing they lack is an Oral Surgeon. If you have to have an extraction you are left hanging to find your own that your insurance will cover. read more

I had an abscessed tooth from a bad root canal pulled at Coast Dental (Ormond Beach). All I can say is the doctor who performed my oral surgery was rude to the dental assistant, he threw his tools around and slammed my tooth across the room. Very unprofessional and rude. Also, they do not return calls and they may pick the phone up 50% of the time when you call. I had the tooth pulled Wednesday and on Sunday was still in horrible pain, so I called the doctor on duty cause it was throbbing like mad and all the guy did was tell me to make an apt. for the Monday, the next day. What is the point of being on duty? So I called Monday morning to make and apt. and guess what?? No one answered, so I left a message asking them to please call so I could make a follow up apt. which they never gave me to begin with. They never called to see how I was, never returned any calls from messages and were unprofessional. If I performed surgery on a person I would surely make a follow up apt to see how the patient was doing. NOTHING!!! I will say the staff on duty were very nice and respectable, but the operation is lacking any kind of organization at all and the rude Oral Surgeon needs to get a clue of how to act in a professional setting. Never saw an actual Dentist, but the one I spoke to on the phone on Sunday was no help at all. I would not recommend this place to anyone. edit: Went back today (3/26/13) to see a different doctor (Dr. Windom) at Coast Dental and found out that the oral surgeon left a rotting root of my tooth in my mouth. I even asked the guy when he was pulling it initially "are you sure you got it all" cause I did not see the roots in the tray or on the floor where part of the tooth was thrown. He said yes he did get it all. Well, he lied and that lie cost me a week of my life in horrible pain. That to me is a little worse that "not meeting expectations". Thank god (figuratively) that Dr. Windom took care of me today. I asked him to xray it again, cause I knew there was something left and sure enough he xrayed me and two roots about 5mm-6mm long were still in my gums. I thank Dr Windom for going all out and performing the extraction like a true professional. I now am free of rotting roots in my jaw and hope to be on a clear path to recovery. Dr. Windom took my cell phone number and said he will be checking up on me the office gave me a follow up apt. I will not stoop to dragging the oral surgeon's name though the mud here, as I am afraid of some kind of legal action if I did. read more

Hygienist and Dr Windom excellent but office personel very rude and they refuse to answer their phone and will not return after 4 times calling their office. 6 months ago I was switched to another Hygienist without asking me and i resent that very much I was very comfortable with Cathy. so this time i was scheduled for Oct 31 and 1 and half weeks I was called to reschedule my Cleaning so I promptly called them back and left message to call me but after a week and 4 phone calls to them and phone messages left I never received a phone call. I stopped in on the 30th on the way back from the YMCA to see if i had an appointment on the 31st had I not stopped in I would have made a trip for nothing very enexcusable. Secretary said Well I have you on the list to call back and I said when were u planing to return my phone call she said well I am not going to argue with you I can't get u in until January almost 8 months later. I have been going to this office for over 6 years not this is not the way to treat old customers. read more

This business has a policy of not allowing parents to go back for exams or cleaning with their children! I have never come across this policy before in any of the at least a dozen dentists I have been to. Even over my protests they would not allow me to go back with my child. I will not be going back to this place unless they change their policies. read more

I do not recommend this office for children. I should have went with my instinct and not have my daughter retuned for a second office visit. On the first visit, I was allowed to go in with my daughter and so I witnessed how rough the hygienist was with cleaning my daughter's teeth. When I saw my daughter tearing up, I mentioned it to the hygienist but she brushed it off and said my daughter was just tired. Prior to the second appointment, I called and asked for a different hygienist. The person who took my phone call said they only have the one hygienist. So I told her I would be going in with my daughter again for her cleaning. When we got there, the hygienist (a different hygienist from our first visit) informed me I couldn't go in with my daughter. Regrettably, I allowed my daughter to go alone and unfortunately she had the same horrible experience as the first visit. Both hygienists that cleaned my daughter's teeth were not kid friendly, too rough, and my daughter swallowed her own fluids because the hygienist didn't allow her to spit any out.
