Support your local small businesses! I have very much enjoyed my experiences in this hardware store and every time I have gone in there, they have what I need. The ladies who work there are very friendly. Never was unable to point me in the right direction. Do not let the very full shelves of the store fool you-- they are organized and you will be able to find what you need. a great alternative option to the large big boxes who are not aligned with supporting our small community. They are right across from the dollar tree, nestled in a small shopping center. The staff is friendly and welcoming. We were in the middle of a move so I had my dog with me but we had to get keys made. Turns out they allow dogs in the store and they even gave her a treat and made the keys. Super down home old school hardware shop. Like you would expect on the Gilmore girls. We love it read more

Wow this place is packed with stuff floor to ceiling. We stopped in here because we needed to have a key made for our car. Tried to have the key made elsewhere with no success. After calling an auto repair shop they told me to go to Coast Do-it Best Hardware. First try and the key works! The staff is friendly and actually converses with you. Also if you ask anyone in there if they have something they will take you right to it. I like this especially in this store because there is so much in there you can easily get lost. read more

This small hardware store is the first place I go for all my hardware needs. The staff is incredibly helpful, and lighthearted. Don't be surprised if jokes and smiles are cracked. The staff is also great at offering less expensive options, so you don't feel like you are being "had". They make key copies, too. Since they are small, they occasionally have to send me to Home Depot to find what I need. Worth the stop to go here first, though. read more

Makes me feel like home. I almost asked the clerk , "Is breakfast ready?" They make you feel so welcomed. I asked one of the salesman if they had cheap key rings. Amazingly , she brought a whole assortment of key rings out to me. Your store needs to be displayed on the website for great customer support ! I had a terrible experience at this store. I asked for deck stain and was given the wrong color and the wrong base. I questioned it when I got home and opened the can and it was pink, not the clay color I ordered, and was assured it would dry to the color I ordered. It was not even close. When I took the can back to the store (Now my 3rd trip there and having wasted several hours putting the wrong stain on my deck) and showed them the dried color, they agreed it was wrong and told me the company had put the wrong color recipe in the machine and they had started with the wrong base. They did not have the right recipe so we changed colors, me assuming they would replace their mistake free of charge, as any reputable business would. They insisted I pay, telling me I would have to talk to the owner when he came in the next day (which he finally did at 3). At that point the owner told me I would have to go to the paint company to get my money back, since it was their mistake and that's how the paint company wanted them to do it. Terrible, terrible customer service, refusing to right a mistake they admit they made. The owner told me that the only person in there who had experience painting anything was himself, so don't go in here for advice OR a quality product. I will never shop here again. Old school hardware store with good customer service. Friendly, energetic folks and tons of stuff. Seems like there's always something new and I like walking the aisles every so often - I just about always find something I didn't know I needed! Big box stores have their place but it's tough to duplicate the personal service here. read more

I try to shop local, so, at Coast Do It Best, the employee chose a 20A GCFI outlet for me and when I got home, it did not work. I came in the next day to exchange it for one that works and the owner said that I had to show a receipt in order to exchange it. Without a receipt, I am now stuck with a broken GCFI outlet. So, I drove to Kingston's Henery Hardware to buy my replacement outlet...and will use Henery's for all of my hardware needs now, because Henery's customer service is locally appreciated and Coast Do It Best is not. read more

Super knowledgeable staff and don't let their size fool you, they have A LOT of inventory. You can go to a big box but you won't find them as informative. Go here, save yourself tons of walking and get what you need the first time. read more
