Based on a personal recommendation, I called Coast to move my family from one home to another. I spoke to Jessica who went over everything with me on the phone and was even able to reschedule the move after our closing got pushed back. On the day of the move, the team (Brandon, Harley and Steve) showed up on time ready to rock. These guys worked efficiently and smart. They know the saying work smarter not harder. The quote from Coast Movers was much higher than from the other company so Jonathan agreed to come down a bit. The quote was still higher but I agreed bc I liked their website, for example I liked the drone image of the truck driving across the Tacoma Bridge with the colors of the green bridge and navy blue ocean below matching the colors of the logo on the truck. Then two days later Jonathan called and asked if I could move on Sat instead of Fri. I said no it has to be Friday, and he said he was double booked but could still do it Friday if it was the afternoon. I asked him if he booked someone after booking me and if so they should get bumped to later not me. He said his lead mover was being put under for surgery on thursday and might not be ready on Friday. I said I was concerned about having someone lift heavy objects if they just had surgery the day before especially if they had to be put under for it. I also worried the mover might still be bleeding if not fully healed yet. Jonathan said in that case he would send 3 movers instead of 2 but still for the price of 2. I said okay and agreed to Fri afternoon even though I preferred the morning. Coast Movers then texted me asking to confirm I was willing to pay extra for three movers. I called Jonathan and said no that was not our agreement. Jonathan sounded angry when I asked reasonable questions like whether he booked me before double booking the other person, or why he was sending me someone recovering from surgery. He interupted and said he's been doing it 18 years and was not going to let me tell him how to do his job, and threatened to cancel altogether. Then he hung up on me. I hired Coast movers for our move out of a storage unit, 12'x30', that was packed full from our 3 bedroom home. They told us they will use 3 guys and gave us the estimate. All seemed fine until they show up with 2 guys. One guy was literally wearing slippers and the other was brand new. I guess the third called out and they could not find anyone else. So guess who turned into the 3rd guy! Me. When I questioned the company during the all day move they said we would only be charged for 2 guys. Well thanks so much (sarcasm)! This move never would've happened if I didn't work my tail off and step in. I was told by a manager if the job didn't get done they would just come back! Okay, so are you going to pay the next months rent on the storage unit? She was completely oblivious to all the logistics that go into a move from the homeowners end. When I tried to explain this to her she could care less. Horrible customer service. I hired a professional move company so I could take care of the many other things going on during a move. I didn't get what I paid for. Waiting for a callback from someone hirer up to get this resolved.....no call yet. I will update my review if I get a call. Also, word on the street is this company does not even have a current business license, I will be looking into that as well. BBB will be notified. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would like to say the two guys that did show up were good guys. Worked hard and were cordial. I feel bad they had to work twice as hard since they were a man short and I'm no professional mover. So thanks to them, no thanks to Coast Movers! This company is in fact not permitted in Washington. Do not hire them. Look it up for yourself. They moved me into our new house a year ago. They were over an hour late the day of our move. My husband had to be a mover because the people who came didn't work. One driver was taking pictures of my car and personal items. They damaged my new hardwood floors. They damaged some personal items in the move . The owner was unreachable and when I finally got him he was horrible to deal with. He yelled at me and made all kinds of excuses. If they damage your home or things they have no damage liability. I contacted Coast Movers about three weeks ago to move my mother-in-law into her new apartment. Jessica was fantastic at explaining every aspect, with lots of patience & reassuring me over my fears about horror stories of movers breaking things, losing things, and just not even showing up. Her cost breakdown was right in my budget and a fair cost. The movers showed up as expected to package the day before and we're very respectful. Coast Movers were absolutely horrible! Worst move and movers I've ever experienced! The movers were SLOW and barely moved anything. I moved the majority of my boxes myself AND loaded my entire POD myself. The movers, Sam and Jason, were lazy and took multiple breaks to "catch their breath" yet they took smoke breaks! They only moved a handful of large furniture and boxes that I couldn't carry myself. I was charged for 4.75 hours of work and they barely did 2 hours of actual work. Everything was already boxed and ready to go. Only a few items needed to be shrink wrapped and hauled to the Pod and truck. I had to go check on them a few times and they weren't doing anything, standing around and attempting to shrink wrap. They were not very careful either. Worst moving company and I would NEVER recommend using their services! I had another mover lined up and Jonathan Sheridan told me he could beat their price and his crew was better. NOT THE CASE! I contacted Jonathan very last minute on a Thursday with a request to move on Saturday. He was extremely helpful and flexible in scheduling our move and I truly appreciate that. HOWEVER we had two items damaged during our move that Jonathan will not take responsibility for, this is why they only get 1 star. The first was the supporting rail to our bed frame which is not replaceable therefore we have to go buy a new bedframe. Jonathan actually pointed it out to me when it broke and said "we'll see what we can do" but has not responded to my email request for reimbursement. The second damaged item was a rather large dent put in our dryer. Jonathan says the dent was already there but it absolutely was not. We had never moved this appliance before and bought it brand new 4 years ago. I think that one of his movers accidentally damaged it when moving another piece of furniture and did not inform him. Either way, the moving company should be held responsible for the damage. The smart move would be for Jonathan to use his insurance to reimburse us for the $700 that we're out due to these damages but he will not respond to my emails. We understand that accidents happen and that is what insurance is for. I'm am hugely disappointed in the outcome of this situation and would not recommend anybody ever using Coast Movers based on our experience. I found out later that Coast Movers is not a licensed moving company in the state of California and is operating illegally. They have a criminal complaint filed against them by the California Public Utilities commission. Stear clear. read more

The movers just left and I'm sitting and basking in the glow of a completed move. The worst part is now behind me. Coast Movers made the process really anxiety-free for me every step of the way. From the phone call with Jonathan to arrange everything and set down the prices for everything all the way to the move itself. All through the phone calls to set it up, I was assured my things and I would be taken care of, and I really felt that I was. They do pricing a little bit differently. They charge less per hour with either 2 or 3 movers, and they don't charge for travel time, but they do charge a flat fee for the truck. It seemed odd to me, but after estimating my move time and crunching some numbers, I found they were the best deal. So after a small and understandable address mix up, the Robert and Kyle showed up right on time. This is all the more impressive after they told me they drove in from about 80 miles away. They were friendly and professional and immediately got down to work. The place I moved out of has about 60 odd stairs leading up to and within. These guys were really good natured about it. Sure I'm paying them, but talk about a crappy job to have to do. They cracked jokes the whole time and had a great attitude. One thing people never talk about is how the movers angle their massive trucks around. I've had a few professional moves now, and I can say I've come across some real dipshits who tear up lawns or driveways. Robert maneuvered that 24' truck better than most people drive their sedans. We schedule multiple movers 1 mo in advance of our move date. The day arrived and they were late. I had to call the office and find out where the movers were only to be told some of the crew tested positive for covid. The absolute most frustrating part was we had to move out that day and were left with no help. I understand that things happen but we should have been notified before their arrival time. read more

The third "supervised" a lot; he even left for half an hour to go get the dolly they didn't bring. It never occured to me that moving helpers would not bring a dolly! Beware! We hired Coast Movers to move furniture and some other belongings from our Gig Harbor home to a storage unit in Burien. Office staff and movers were friendly, but we noticed the movers not taking great care with our furniture (much of it beautifully handcrafted by my husband); however, we figured it was okay for a one hour drive. Unfortunately, the movers were in an accident on I-5 and many items were damaged. It took days to finally get our stuff to the unit and we were told we could file a claim only if we paid the full bill. We reluctantly did that and filed the claim both via email and registered mail--both came back as undeliverable. Texts and messages to the individual who arranged our move have gone unanswered. No amount of money can "fix" the damaged furniture, but a written apology and the return of at least some of our money would have been appropriate. The lack of response is shameful. read more

WARNING...THIS IS NOT A MOVING COMPANY!! They hire unprofessional, unqualified, inexperienced grunt labor. They did not know how to move furniture, did not have adequate blankets or materials to move or to protect any of my furniture. Three guys and they could NOT manage to move the furniture without putting deep scratches in our wood doors and door jambs when I was not watching them. They scraped the sheetrock and ran my furniture into the exterior of the house. They were my worst nightmare!! I have quality, expensive furniture that was in like new condition and they seriously damage every single piece. Every piece is damage in multiple locations. And, they did not lift the furniture but drug it across the floor of the moving van, concrete driveway and in the gravel. It is an hour drive to the house we are moving to from the house we are moving from. After waiting a full hour for them to show up at the house we are moving to, I was told they had vehicle trouble and would not be coming until the following day! I wasted three hours of my time that I couldn't afford to waste. Apparently The Washington State Patrol pulled them over for driving the moving van with expired tabs and subsequently found some vehicle violations. When it came time to pay, I disputed the time being charged, especially because of the amount of damages. I was threatened if I didn't pay with a credit card right then and now, they would remain on the property and continue to charge me $185/hour until I agreed to pay. My only options to pay were a credit card with a 4% fee added or cash. I should not have succumbed to her treats and let them remain on the property as long as they wanted. Normally I do a thorough investigation before hiring anyone but I am pressed for time to move and this company was recommended to me. This company was clearly unprepared for an out of state move and had difficulty coordinating the details of our move. In addition to our items arriving days later than they originally stated, our furniture was damaged. They did not cover our couches or arm chair in the truck and they used our uncovered, tan cushions as packing buffers against the dirty truck. Our furniture now has dark black stains that did not come off after having the upholstery cleaned. We filed a claim and we were given a $250 refund (which did not cover the cleaning let alone the furniture replacement we actually need.) From the initial inquiry call we had with Jessica to the followup call we had with the owner Johnathan to the awesome moving experience we had with Nathan, Brad and Steve. We were very well prepared for this move which, lead us to underestimate the man power (ie having 4 movers instead of 3) and hours needed by 4 hours. In short, the company was supposed to meet us at our new home at 1pm and then called at 6pm to say they couldn't come for three more days. These guys were very polite and very efficient. They were thorough and they did everything in one day because I had to move quickly from Tacoma to Poulsbo, which is north of Bremerton. There was no damage and the pricing was the best. There was a little change in the price because they went a little over in the timing, but it still came within a couple of hundred dollars of their quote so I was very pleased. They also gave me a vase of flowers at the end of the move, which I thought that was a very nice touch to top it off. read more

Confused.. I used his company to unload our UHaul truck in April from Utah to Gig Harbor, and had 4 of the hardest working, very professional movers who took care of our belongings. 5 Stars to them!! HOWEVER.... In Sept I hired his company again, and had 3 movers who 2 of which were the slowest movers, took a lot of time just walking around our 3 bedroom apartment (First floor, and just steps away from the truck) they kept coming in walking around... very slow. And then the 3rd who stayed in the truck, stacked our things, and stepped all over them. They scratched very expensive things, and damaged them. And I have yet to hear from anyone in the company. They say they are bonded and insured.... I hope so. I would verify who is doing the move, and be careful!! read more

I found their website online and, as advised made the appointment two weeks prior to the move, and they were able to schedule me on my preferred date and time for a cross-town move. The movers were on time and quickly loaded and unloaded the truck. They were able to get everything done in about 3 hours, when I was quoted for 4-5. I had a horrible experience with Jonathan who runs this company. I felt that I was misquoted to be lured in, he told me one price when he wanted me to call back and schedule then proceeded to tell me that the price was of course completely non-guaranteed but would likely be a close estimate. Not so. The cost was 350$ more. When I called to discuss this and let him know that I would happily pay more then the original quote but I wanted the 50$ discount he had said he would apply earlier he then told me he didn't know what I was talking about and that he has to make his money somehow. He then began to talk over me in a very insulting and unprofessional way and then hung up on me. I was shocked. The two men who came to move my things were very pleasant and hard working, they apologized to me for his behavior and commented that unfortunately my circumstance were not unique. Many of their clients end the experience very unhappy with their interaction with Jonathan and with the cost they are quoted. I of course paid the full amount he wanted. Frankly he was rather threatening on the phone and I just wanted it to be done with. Not the best welcome to Seattle. I recommend that everyone avoids this unprofessional and unscrupulous owner/company. Update: the two young men who moved me were great and hard working, in fact I felt bad for them that they obviously have to deal with Jonathan's frequently problematic customer relations. Capitol Hill, Great professional movers. Really went the extra mile with my things. Jonathon and his team helped me pack up a moving pod on Capitol Hill. Jonathon was easy to deal with, prompt in answering back, and clear with what my options were. No nickle and diming, he was interested in selling me only what I needed. They arrived promptly and dove into packing my pod. I was worried that my stuff wouldn't fit, but these guys are tetris masters and impressively got all my stuff in with room to spare, fragile things insulated, and a little walk way to get around. I asked them to treat a few boxes with extra care and they had no problem remembering what was important. Moving sucks, hire some great help like these guys to make it a lot easier. read more

BE WARNED! If anything is broken by these movers, the owner of the company will not properly reimburse you. I have filed complaints to the Washington Attorney General's office, the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission and the BBB due to the lack of proper reimbursement for damages. These movers destroyed our upright piano during the move. The piano is no longer playable and an estimate provided by a local repair shop is in excess of $1000 to just get it playable again. I was told by the owner that he is only responsible to pay $0.60/lb for damaged items and no more. The amount he would pay would be $360. He claimed when selling me the move that they are licensed, bonded and insured. I told him that $360 is unacceptable and that I never agreed to any limited liability, nor did I sign anything attesting to limited liability. He has since cut off all communication with me. He will not respond to multiple requests of mine for his insurance carrier's info so I may file a claim against his insurance. After all this, he had the gall to refund my credit card $360 when I never authorized him to do so. I'm not even sure that crediting money to someone's account is even legal unless they have authorized such a move. On the advice of my attorney, I have petitioned my credit union to contest the initial charge against my account for the move to recoup the expenses incurred by his movers destroying my property. If that fails, I guess this will end up in small claims court. It's such a shame too because his movers were very kind and professional. All of this could have been reconciled immediately had he paid for the appropriate repairs to the piano his company destroyed. EDIT in response to comment: I have been in a back and forth with Mr.Sheridan since the move via the UTC, BBB and the Washington Attorney General's office. There was no dishonesty in this review. The piano was not loose, and no mention was made to this affect by the movers on the day of the move. My piano repair company informed me this type of damage occurs often when movers aren't using proper techniques by lifting the piano in an inappropriate manner. I received limited compensation for the damage when I was not allowed or offered any other levels of damage coverage as is mandated by Washington State law. Mr. Sheridan has refused to accept responsibility and is under investigation by the Utilities and Transportation Commission due to his fraudulent practices. I was entitled and required by law to receive a written estimate, bill of lading and signed agreement prior to the move. None of these items were offered or received. By law I was required to receive options to choose from for damage coverage. I was not provided any options. A chargeback for the move is currently being sought through my credit union. Should that not be approved, I will be taking this to small claims court on the advice from my attorney. Anyone anticipating a move should stay clear of any business associated with Jonathan Sheridan such as Coast Movers or JFS Transport. read more

Our moving experience was fantastic with Coast Movers. Jonathon was nothing but courteous and understanding of our numerous date changes due to complications in the building of our home. On moving day, the guys were on time and ready to get started. They were very thoughtful in placement of our things in the truck to minimize the chance of damages and wrapped things that needed wrapping. Overall, I'm very happy with how smoothly things went. None of our things are damaged or broken. Everyone was friendly and easy to work with. For an insured moving company I doubt you will get a better bang for your buck. Terrible experience. Booked 3 plus weeks out and paid $200 deposit. On the day of move they didn't show up. No call. 39 minutes after they were supposed to show up I called their office and was told their truck broke down and they could move me 2 days later. Unfortunately, the organization up to the move did not go well. I had texted the owner with details about a request and his assistant called me. After scheduling, I requested an estimate to be emailed to me and never received it. The movers showed up without a truck and put me into tears when they did not offer a solution. Eventually, they came back with a truck and charged me 46% more than the agreed upon price. It was a good sign when the crew showed up in the morning with energy drinks in hand. They worked hard all day and took good care of the loads and packing. They didn't play any games on the pricing like rounding up on hours or anything like that. We used our own Uhaul truck but the price on using their truck was competitive. Our move went smoothly when we hired a crew of three to unload our moving truck. They arrived on time and went right to work. The didn't even hesitate when we asked them to help move a few things out of the home which were left by the previous resident. When it came to unloading the truck they encouraged us to pull up a chair to supervise and "not lift a finger". The only negatives were that the dolly they brought had a flat tire, but they worked around that with ease. Also, there was an extra fee for bringing the washing machine into the home due to it's weight, and Jonathan had assured me they would be able hook up the appliances for us. The guys were reluctant to do the connection and seemed surprised by the request. In the end it was good they didn't connect them because we needed additional connectors. Overall, the crew had great teamwork and were conscientious of our belongings. Fair rates for saving our backs. I would definitely hire these guys again. read more

I will let you make the decision to do business with this company after hearing my INCREDIBLE story. Hired Coast Movers out of Gig Harbor, WA 2 weeks prior to complete my move January 26th 2019. The time of expected arrival was communicated to me to be between 2 and 4 pm. I called to follow up at 3:30 to see where they were and was told they were running late and would be closer to 5. I called again at 5 to follow up and was told should be soon. They arrived at my house at around 6 p.m. I was supposed to have a 3 man crew but only 2 showed up. Was told the other guy just left and went home. I toured them around the house and showed them where everything was boxed up and ready to go. They started their first trip which is the next building over across the street so no truck needed just dollies. When they arrived after this first trip they explained to me that they were super tired from the previous moves and hungry because they haven't eaten all day. They said is there any way they could come back tomorrow and finish the job. I told them that would be fine I just need my mattresses for myself and my 2 little girls who live with me so they could sleep on something. They said ok and went to grab them. They told me they had another job in the morning which was an easy and quick one and would be at my place between 12:30 and 1. I said no problem I have nothing else going on. The next day Sunday January 27th they arrived with no call at around 3:30 in the afternoon. They told me as well they would have 3 guys for this move. They arrived with 2 again because the guy they had last night quit already. They started moving my boxes again and after 2 trips and a total of 4 boxes told me that they would have to come back tomorrow and finish because they couldn't work past 9. It was already past 6 after arriving and doing only 2 trips. I was getting at this point pretty frustrated which I have remained very calm for 2 days until this point. I have to work tomorrow; my girls have school and also needed to be out of my place by Monday so I thought 2 full days was plenty of time. I instructed the worker to get me on the phone with the boss. He gave the phone to me and I had the owner of the company Jonathan on it. I thought for sure the owner would see my frustration and do what he had to do to help out. I was wrong. I explained to him my level of frustration and how I have never had such a horrible experience with any company in my life and I am 41 years old. The owner of this company gave me all the excuses on why we were in this spot and never gave me any resolutions. I explained to him that maybe they should have rescheduled there early morning move and finished my move before collecting more money from another customer. He told me he couldn't change the past but again just gave me excuses on why everything was the way it was. No I AM SORRY or here is what we can do for you. NOTHING. I have paid this company $700 to this point to move 2 mattresses a TV and 4 boxes. That's $100 per item I believe. I was beyond frustrated and showed that to the workers who said they completely understand and would work until 9 to accomplish as much as they could. Without any other options for myself and my 2 daughters which I felt COMPLETELY HELD HOSTAGE BY THIS COMPANY had to just say ok. They did 1 more run and this is the BEST PART. They just left without me knowing. I found this out when I realized it's been a while since I have seen them and opened my front door to find the keys I gave them laying on my mat. They just threw my keys on my mat and if I hadn't seen them when I did someone may have picked them up and had access to my place with my 9 and 11 year old daughters living there. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!!! This is a real life story everyone. I thought I was being punked on a TV show it was so bad. I called the movers phone number and of course NO ANSWER. I sat in complete shock for a good hour before I went on Craigslist to find someone to help me move in the shortest of notice. I found a company called 24/7 movers and they came out the next morning and moved my whole house that day. It took them 1 day. They did a great job and would completely recommend them to anyone. I had to take the day off work and pay $1560 to them for the move. Total move costed me 3 days to include 1 day of scheduled work, $2260 and the WORST EXPERIENCE I have ever had with a company that is still in business taking people's money today.
