And over the last 6 months, she has broken down our relationship with poor workmanship and refusing to meet deadlines. I dropped off two vintage dresses in October for rework. One was silk beaded and one was designer 80's prom. The silk beaded she added side panels, and I got it back in January, the date of the event i needed it for, not a day early. She didn't bind the silk edge properly and it pulled out that same night after three hours of wear. She lined silk with silk, making the dress stiff and the bottom seam was left very sharp and ripped my nylons up at the event. I got so many comments on the torn nylons. She promised to repair it so I asked her to use the proper lining. I also asked her to match the beading on the panels and went and found the beads. I was willing to pay for mote work on the bad job even. We had a previous great relationship so I assumed it was one bad job and felt comfortable going further and I truly believed she would fix it. I asked her to do the 80's prom first so that I could wear it spring since I already wore the silk. She has taken it apart for months and has never put it back together. I told her repeatedly not to take fabric from the peplum because it was the entire reason I bought the dress. I told her take from the skirt because we were shortening anyway. She took from the peplum. We added girth to the bodice so the peplum is no longer as ruffled. Devastating. I had two separate fittings for the 80's dress scheduled. One she left me standing outside and didn't even tell me that she wasn't coming. A later different fitting, I had a feeling she was gonna ghost me so I called her first and found out that she was never intending to show up. I have begged for dates for a fitting and she refuses to respond. I was only able to get responses when I said never mind I will just come pick it up. She then said she wouldn't even charge me for the work on the 80's dress!!! The work to take it apart and never put it back together? She missed valentines day, my entire show season, every event i could have purposed it for... So now she has a silk beaded vintage dress that she never repaired her bad seams, so that dress is essentially destroyed and unwearable. And I paid for the job already, but now have to pay someone else to fix it or throw it out. And the other dress is in pieces. If she had never touched them, I could at least resell them. She will probably respond with some quippy nasty remarks like she does everyone else who complains. But I am not an unreasonable person with unreasonable expectations. I treated her like a friend and she has destroyed two beautiful vintage garments. I am utterly devastated to lose the working relationship and to lose the dresses. Please be firm on your deadlines with her. She will always pass the buck. I doubt I will get a genuine apology. All I will get back is the remains of two vintage dresses. One that has already been paid for. I will also get some little sneer in response I'm sure. update: the snide remark is posted by the owner. i will be picking up my unfinished garments this evening. how truly sad to see such a dishonest and disgusting response. this is what you can expect. it truly tells to her character.

We liked how they do the work themselves (instead of hiring others) and have high standards for excellence. When we couldn't afford an add-on for the bid, they decided to surprise us by generously throw it in for us free of charge anyway. They are a couple of good Christian guys who actually care about people, care about their work, and care about reflecting God's love. In the past, we have had challenges with contractors cutting corners on quality, taking way longer than expected and continually raising the price. Working with the Gentry's was the opposite of our past horror stories. They finished when they said they would, they ensured it looked excellent and they were totally honest and upfront about the price. I would work with them again in a heartbeat and recommend anyone else to as well!

I was sold: "Based on what I gathered from you and your home, I imagine the design of your space would fall somewhere in the realm of warm contemporary, comfy, understated but a touch swanky, masculine, PNW natural / rustic. Neutral and subdued colors, varied natural textures, layered and homey, soulful. Furnished with timeless and quality elements that could work in future homes too." Gwen has executed on the vision perfectly all the while taking my feedback and taste into consideration. Gwen selected furniture, carpets, lighting, art, plants, and décor for my office, living room, bonus room, master bedroom, kitchen, outdoor patio, and hallways. She helped me accessorize my kitchen with all new cookware, knives, silverware, gadgets, etc. Saying that Gwen selected all of these items does not do justice to her work. The pieces selected were of the highest quality. Quality observable to the eye and to the touch. Most the pieces selected are themselves a work of art that give me joy just to look at daily. Some of the pieces were custom made to be the perfect fit for the space. Gwen found the craftspeople and helped design these custom pieces. Gwen was a consummate professional throughout the entire process. She did all the coordination of ordering and deliveries. Gwen found electricians to install the lighting and spent all day here making sure that a custom light fixture was installed. Her punctuality is something that I must comment on because when she told me that she would be at my house at a certain time I could set my watch to her arrival. I sincerely appreciated this punctuality because I believe it speaks volumes to how she cares about her clients and her craft. All of this work and sourcing was during COVID shutdowns when lead times on furniture exploded which made the project more difficult. If you get a quote from them, keep in mind: the sales associate does not understand how cabinets are installed, or how to measure for them. And if something goes wrong, they will not take your call.
