I was on a five day trip from AL to NY with four buses and had an awful experience that was 100% due to bus driver problems. My bus drivers often didn't know where they were going and the passengers ended up navigating. Near the end of a 28-hour trip after she almost missed the exit (passengers had to raise their voices to get her attention), our driver said, "Oh, I see the exit now. It's hard for me to see at night." It was 2:00 am. I was often afraid for my safety and the safety of 200 high school students, parents, and teachers. My son's bus ended up repeatedly missing an exit and looped an area of Newark four times (yes, four times, this was confirmed via Life 360) while the other buses only looped three times. If you're planning a trip, I would want full documentation attesting to the competency of the drivers, no matter what bus company you use. The potential for disaster is unbearable to think of. Currently on a tour with this company. It wouldn't allow me to do less than 1 star. If there were a warning don't use feature I would use it. The drivers on staff from coast to coast were unprofessional and verbally combative. Left 4 bus loads of high school students standing in cold parking lot for an hour at a dinner break to go get fuel at petro/loves station (more on this later). The 1 bus on contract not with coast to coast was nice and helpful but had poor communication with the staff. They tried hard but it was just a bad situation with the bus blowing a radiator hose. That caused a 3 hour delay but that has nothing to do with my response. Mechanical issues happen and that's fine. Communication of the plan to resolve the issue was poor and caused a tension with staff but bus was restored and all was well with the mechanical issue. The coast to coast busses are old and had poor equipment. Power plugs not working was most annoying when a company is as incompetent as this company is. Drivers refused to take on fuel at a large Sunoco station where 200 people were attempting to change and prepare for an overnight bus ride. They forced us to unload 4 buses at 2am into a small petro truck stop because there "might" be water in the fuel at Sunoco. There was not enough room in the truck stop to accommodate all the students and chaperones. People couldn't move in the store and it was very cold outside. The "water" issue was the driver's statement as fed ex trucks were taking on fuel in the background and 100s of tractors idled and entered and left the complex. Apparently a driver who can't follow a gps or find their way back to a hotel the second day of a journey has the ability to sense water in diesel fuel from 100 yards away. It is their "diesel sniffer" sixth sense, or possibly it could be that the owner/operator didn't want to take on fuel at non-corporate account fuel card location and risk losing those all import free shower points and petro/loves fuel rewards that led to yet another time wasting excursion. The driver used profanity in front of chaperones and cursed out nypd officers. They repeatedly got lost over and over and took their own breaks where they wanted vs the pre planned breaks we need for a large group. Also, 1 driver even threatened to leave the other buses while trying to feed kids on a bus for 20 hours due to there issues. Same driver was dangerously driving, and damaged the bus by running into a tollbooth. They hit a tollbooth. If the option is to use this company or don't go. Don't go. I would rather go in a wagon with a 3 legged horse than board another cost to coast bus. This is my first negative review ever on google. That's how bad they are. I never leave bad feedback because it's a hassle. At 22 hours i found the time to be honest. read more

Oh, where to even start? On our way to NY they left our group of 204 people waiting in a freezing parking lot for 45 minutes while they went to refuel the buses. We were set to arrive at our hotel at 11:00 that night, but we didn't arrive until around 2 am. Our lead driver got lost on more than one occasion, driving us around NJ for a good 30 minutes extra after we'd been walking around NYC all day. During that escapade, one of the drivers knocked the mirror off the bus going through a toll booth (more on the consequences of that later). Two of our buses were late picking up our group and made half of our kids and chaperones so late to our dinner cruise that they almost missed it (and would have if not for the grace of the other dinner attendees who agreed to wait a few more minutes, as they were a school group as well). The broken off mirror came back to haunt us as it caused the bus to be parked until a repair could be done. After marching in the parade we'd gone to NY for, our kids had to change for dinner and a show in the bus and we were on the verge of splitting those 50 folks into our other 3 buses so we could make it to dinner. The drivers on 3 of our 4 buses were unprofessional, argumentative (with each other and with parents and staff), and rude. Then we leave to come home and the place we'd arranged to stop so our group could change clothes and the buses could refuel was deemed unacceptable by the drivers (despite dozens of other diesel vehicles filling up there). So we had to unload and change clothes there, wasting over and hour. We got back on the buses and drove 45 minutes (at 2:00 in the morning, mind you!!) to a gas station deemed acceptable by our drivers. We had to wake up our exhausted kids and unload them all again, where we all proceeded to wait in a Pilot for over an hour while the buses refueled. Lead driver got lost AGAIN after this, and I awoke to our driver yelling at him to "turn off the GPS and stay on 78!" Who knows how much time that cost us? I was already in an exhausted coma by then. Then mechanical issues hit (not their fault), but the communication about how to resolve this and what it might mean to our arrival time back home was not dealt with well at all. After waiting at a gas station for 3 hours, a mechanic arrived and thankfully fixed the issue. On the way home, one of the drivers threatened to leave once "her" bus was loaded because "she has a life outside this trip." She had one of our staff memebers in tears. To say I'm appalled is a massive understatement. I'm thankful for the wonderful memories we made with our child on this trip, but this company came about as close to ruining it as they possibly could. We're currently at hour 23 into our trip home, and still have about 3 hours to go. Sheesh.... read more

Bus drivers were rude and never on time when they were supposed to pick us up, making us late for multiple events. Bus drive from NYC to AL took 27 hours instead of 18. Bathrooms were disgusting and busses weren't very clean either. Bad driving caused us to almost wreck multiple times. One of the busses broke down completely. Do not recommend at all read more

My son just returned from a trip with his high school band. The drivers on this trip were the most unprofessional, rude, incompetent, and unsafe I've ever seen. Additional unscheduled stops for drivers to take food and restroom breaks outside of when the students did (four buses). Drivers arguing with each other, screaming on the phone, two buses had a near-miss for a rear end collision, one bus hit a tollbooth ripping the side mirror off. For one excursion two of the four buses never showed up to pick up the kids, causing them to nearly miss their excursion and dinner! The buses were advertised as including TV monitors, wifi, and working outlets and had none of that. Drivers refused to gas at the scheduled gas/changing stop on the ride home (a stop listed on the itinerary that was published weeks before the trip), which meant our kids had to make a second stop at 3:00am, get off the bus and wait for 45 minutes. The trip up was three hours late in arriving, the return trip took 28 hours!! There was a mechanical issue, which happens, and it was eventually resolved. I'd like to see the driver logs as I'm sure that they violated the allowable drive/rest times as well. Drivers for school trips are normally so much fun, knowledgeable, SAFE, and courteous but that was certainly not the case this time. I fully expect compensation for the students, chaperones, and school staff on this trip as they certainly did NOT get what we paid for. read more

I was a bit afraid to take this company again on after reading the previous review, but Im so glad I went with my intial mind. Just like the first trip, the driver was knowledgable, the bus was clean and cool.. and my group thoroughly enjoyed our time. Where is the "zero star" option? I just returned from a 5 (and a half) day trip with high school band students traveling roundtrip from Alabama to NY. I have chaperoned many trips on charter buses; however, I have never been exposed to such outdated & run down bus equipment or incompetent drivers. We were told wi-fi was not available and many of the outlets simply did not work. Multiple seats had broken latches that were designed to hold the seats upright during travel making the already cramped space even more uncomfortable. The overhead bin space was limited. The drive to NY began with all four buses unloading at the designated location & given a specific time to return after refueling only to hear they felt they needed an unscheduled break. This left everyone out in the cold for greater than an hour not knowing if/when the buses would return. The drivers bickered among each other and with staff/chaperones trying to assist with directions when the drivers couldn't follow GPS and drove us in circles for an hour or more. Drivers drove so close to fellow 18-wheelers on the interstate that had my window been open I could have reached out and touch the side. Drivers were overtly loud while conversing with one another using profanity with all disregard of juveniles being on the bus. Buses failed to arrive at meeting location leaving 120+ students/staff/chaperones stranded in NYC in the cold for greater than an hour - by the way of the four buses, two never showed up, the two that did made double the trips and we still arrived late to our destination. During the time the two buses were "missing" one reportedly struck a toll booth damaging the right side mirror - which NYPD threatened to put out of service if it wasn't fixed immediately. We were scheduled to leave Times Square at 11:30 pm Saturday, which we did. Traveled about an hour, unloaded the bus so the drivers could refuel only to find out a short time later they refused to purchase gas from there because they "thought" the fuel might be watered down. FOUR hours and ELEVEN minutes later... we had only traveled 70.1 miles due to this watered down fuel fiasco. 28 hours... that is how long it took to return home from NY to Alabama. This trip was emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting due to the constant state of anxiety shared among the over 200 passengers - thanks to the unprofessionalism shown by the company and its underqualified drivers. read more

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin with my review because I'm still traumatized from the 5 day trip . I am an adult and I was scared for my life and the safety of my travel group many times. 0/10. I would NEVER recommend this bus company to anyone. I wouldn't even let my worst enemy use this bus company. The buses were old, out dated, and there was no room. I travel on charter buses frequently as a teacher chaperone and I have not encountered buses in this poor of condition in years. The seats were worn out and sloped so much you felt like you were slipping out of them. Outlets didn't work, Wi-Fi didn't work, tv's didn't work. Bus drivers were rude, cussed at one another, yelled at teenagers and adult chaperones, cussed in traffic, were non-compliant, cared only for theirselves, and overall HIGHLY unprofessional. Bus drivers did not know how to work GPS and some refused to use GPS resulting in our group being late, Getting lost, and overall wasting our time nonstop for 5 days. At one point in our trip we waited for buses outside for over an hour and they never arrived, making us 30 min late to planned dinner reservations and almost missing our dinner plans - other buses had to come back and get us. Bus drivers ran into things knocking a mirror off their bus (causing group to eventually almost miss another dinner), nearly rear ended other buses, swerved, speeded, drove without proper lights on. Shall I go on with my laundry list of complaints? Drivers complained openly and loudly about scheduled stops but freely took unplanned stops of their own every time they pleased for restroom, drink, smoke breaks, etc. One driver got sick to her stomach on the way home and "couldn't drive" which caused other drivers to go WAY over their hours and put our entire group in danger but it didn't keep her from eating Jimmy John's for lunch or gas station chicken. I could write a novel but all in all, 200+ teenagers and adults were in danger, treated very poorly and disrespected repeatedly by this company. Coast to Coast Tours is the worst company ever! Our school hired them to take 254 students to Ruby Falls. First, the buses were one hour late, the buses are NOT the buses from any of the pictures from their website. Buses had no electrical outlets, WiFi or DVD which they promised. One of the drivers, who happens to be the owner, Willie Johnson had to stop at a gas station to use the restroom enroute to Tennessee. On the way back to Newnan, Ga one of the buses had no air. This company was very unprofessional and rude. There were no contact numbers to call to see why the buses were late. I am not sure who writes these reviews but they were horrible . read more
