We were off in ~10 minutes. The paddling was great; lots of wildlife viewing in the narrows. Brian was waiting for us upon our return and had us on our way in ~5 minutes. We had a great day!

He outfitted us with everything we would need including a banana to snack on! I felt completely safe the entire time even though I'd been nervous going into it and my boyfriend still felt like he'd had an adventure. We're both from the prairies so seeing sea stars, seals, crab, eagles, and even boats was pretty exciting for us. Excellent fun and we plan to do it again!

My mom and I were not great at using the oars but Allen was patient and gave us tips to help us! He was entertaining and taught us how to use kelp as a horn! The sea conditions and weather at the time and location he selected were forecast to be beyond the abilities stated for Paddle Canada Level 2 class. The forecast was obtained from a source he recommended in his class manual. Because of the dangerous sea conditions (forecast to be present at the time and location he selected), I decided to not go on a trip that had more dangerous sea conditions. Now, not only has he not returned the money I paid for a trip that did not materialize, he won't even answer my emails, yet he has time to post new trips on facebook. Stay away from this guy.

They gave us great recommendations to help us make the most of our rental time, and as a result we saw the rare white raccoon, lounging seals, and stunning coastline, all via cold, clean waters around charming Nanaimo. After returning, Richard (with the kindest blue eyes and friendly smile) shared a little history of the coastline and wildlife and helpfully gave us a few post-kayak lunch recommendations. We were told that parking tickets would be handled by coastal expressions but they failed to tell us that this only covered certain areas of the car park and they would not pay the fine. I had never kayaked at night before so the environment was pretty incredible and the bioluminescence was fascinating and quite beautiful. He guided us with techniques and tips both at the start and throughout the journey, he led us to some beautiful spots where we saw sea stars and seals, and he give us the history of the region.
