We saw humpback whales, then a playful pod of Harbour Popoise put on an amazing show. The grand finale was a pod of majestic orcas that I'll never forget. I went with a couple friends, one who was a non-Twilighter, but was soon converted once she experienced this tour. We signed up for the $40 Bella Sunset tour from 6-9 pm which was a tour of the locations inspired by the Stephenie Meyer Twilight Saga and also included areas that were somewhat featured in the movies as well. Our tour guide/driver/photographer/bonfire cook was Randy, the husband of Debbie who helps coordinate these tours on www.teamforks.com. The tour cost $43.40 which included taxes and fees and easily payable online. Debbie let us know via email that this tour was similar to the other ones they advertise on their website, but this one includes a bonfire complete with hot dogs and smores. Being the food lover and Twi-Hard fan, I convinced my friends to purchase this tour to which they agreed was a fairly reasonable price. Randy drove us to several locations such as: Cullen house, Swan house, Police station, Fork's high school, and get this...LA PUSH BABY, LA PUSH! Yes this is the only tour group allowed on Jacob Black's Indian reservation!!! So if you are a fan of the Twilight mania, then book your tour through Team Forks and it will be an adventure that will you make you sparkle everytime!

It was the first time of the day, and we left a little late; I wondered if we'd get shortchanged a little, but in fact we got a little more than the hour ride we paid for. Our driver, Amelia, was friendly and informative as we clip-clopped through parks, neighborhoods, and quaint business districts. This isn't an inexpensive ride, but they have about 6-7 different lengths of rides all priced proportionately, which helps. My wife really wanted a carriage ride while we were here, so I sprung for a one hour trip, which we both enjoyed!

This review is for the hop-on hop-off bus that leaves from the Inner Harbour in front of the…read moreEmpress Hotel. We got there around 11:45 am on a weekday and bought tickets for the bus. We paid $173 total ($60 per adult, $39 for our teen, and the rest for our tween), and they gave us brochures outlining the route and stops, plus one timetable as they were almost out. That's when we realized the bus frequency is every hour, and not every 15 minutes. The last bus was at 5:30 pm. Fortunately, they had a bus scheduled to run at the half hour mark during summers (10, noon and 2), so we would not need to wait for an hour every time we disembarked. The long gap between busses meant we had to restrict the number of places we hopped off - we chose to see the Songhees lookout on the other side of the water, and take a lunch stop in Oak Bay Village. Of the places we'd originally planned to see, we ended up skipping Chinatown, Fisherman's Wharf, and Beacon Hill Park (with its 150+ feet-tall totem pole). Many of the other places on the "itinerary" were either closed or obvious tourist traps. The busses are double-deckers and are fairly comfortable - some have open roofs, others don't. They tend to run about 5-10 minutes behind schedule. Service level was mixed. We got one nice tour guide, and a rude one who chastised us for all the things we MAY do on the journey (like throw trash everywhere instead of in the bin!), even before the bus had departed the starting point. Verdict - overpriced and not worth wasting a day of precious vacation time on. Wish we had taken a cab or water taxi instead and visited just the places we wanted to see.

The USS Nebraska's keel was laid down in May 26, 1987 ; it was launched on August 15, 1992 and commissioned on July 10, 1993. The sub is home to 1 of two crews for a typical deterrent mission under the MAD strategy for an average of 77 days. Each crew consists of ~17 officers, ~15 petty officers and ~122 enlisted men. The USS Nebraska has completed 18 deterrent missions as of September of 2010. This is the second Navy Ship to honor the State of Nebraska. Duty rotation for the crew is 18 hours with 6 hours at the primary duty station, ~6 hours of other duties. However, officers, however, typically are on for 14 hours or longer. This is the routine for the entire tour of duty. Aside from 24 Trident Ballistic missiles complete with MIRVs (Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles), the sub features 4 forward torpedo tubes. 4 of the 18 Ohio class submarines are designed SSGNs and are equipped with cruise missiles instead of Trident Missiles. The tour allowed us to see the silos and torpedo bay including the control rooms for each. We also the Mess, the Ward room, the Petty Officers room, the berths of various personal and the bathrooms. The Control center and sonar rooms as well as misc machine rooms were part of the tour. The only areas pretty much off-limits to the friends and families touring the Nebraska was the engine room, nuclear reactor room and sail. We were treated to lunch which was 2 star food with 5 star service. During deployment, the kitchen is active 24/7 and the lunch we were served seemed to reflect what was served on board Kudos to the men (and soon woman) who go on watch on this sub. On the way off the dock we ran into the John T. with Victoria Pedicab Co. who offered us a scenic tour of Victoria and the opportunity to do a little shopping. We figured what the hell, it's more interesting than Uber. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our vacation. John was personable and interesting, friendly and engaging. We got to see all the highlights of the beautiful city, plus the history and stories that went along with it. The historic neighborhoods, the beautiful city park, parliament, and China Town. John stopped at cool places for photos & offered to take pics for us. He also stopped by great shops where we could grab those last minute gifts for family. As the sun went down, he offered a blanket to keep us warm and made sure we saw the magnificent sunset. When it was all over, we felt like we had a decent knowledge of Victoria, and we had a new friend in Canada. If your cruise ship stops in Victoria, I highly recommend taking a trip with the pedicabs, especially if the weather is great. It's well worth your time.

The only downside if you're coming as a family ... is that you'll be spending hundreds of dollars for about two-three hours of activity (most of that time is spent waiting in two lines). Price aside though, the views are beautiful, it's not overly crowded, and everything does feel high quality. The treewalk is beautiful and the alternative return route feels like a gentle, quiet hike through nature. For those two lines, one is for the glass box at the top floor (purely a photo opp spot as you'd get better views outside of the box) and the second is for the slide down (FUN, terrifying to me, but a must). There was a food area including one airstream trailer that served floats and soft serve/ice cream (I forget what exactly) which was pretty fun and tasty. There's another airstream trailer at the entrance by the gift shop that sold coffee and other desserts (I think). Parking was easy. The drive to get here could be part of the adventure. I felt like the cost was worthwhile!
