I picked up my dry cleaning a few weeks ago and a very expensive sport coat had several runs in the material. I don't know if it was damaged before it went in for dry cleaning, or if the damage was during the process. I spoke with the owner and he asked me to bring it in. Much to my surprise, the sport coat was repaired like new. The owner was friendly, helpful and accommodating, which seems to be more rare these days. I go out of my way to use Coastal Carolina Cleaners, because of their reputation for being gentle on expensive fabrics. I don't know why I keep coming back here. They weren't able to take a simple stain off of my garment; instead they put a tag that said something along the lines of "I see the stain but we couldn't get it out." I've also had clothes come back with stains that I know I did not have prior to dropping off. The staff is not friendly. If it is just one woman, expect awkward silence and rude stares. If there are a couple of ladies working, I have heard them gossip about their families and money. Overall, it has been several very uncomfortable experiences. On top of all that, the prices are outrageous because it is supposedly environmentally friendly. read more

This place damaged four of my tailor made button up shirts. They put safety pins through the tag and cross back of the shirt. If they just placed holes through the tag that would have been fine but there are now visible holes with stretch marks through my shirts. The dry cleaning was done at the end of November and I just noticed that they did this. I am upset and at the very least this place should refund the money, at best replace/fix the shirts. read more

Fastest turn around you will find in the area. Front desk people are very knowledgeable about what materials can be dry cleaned/ laundered.

The front staff seems nice enough. But I would advise not ever using the the seamstress in house. First of all this woman does not wear a mask when seeing customers. Refused to do a simple alteration with little to no explanation as to why. She was quite rude and lacked communication skills due to the fact that she was in the middle of having a personal phone call while helping customers. Unbelievable! So it's my second or third time going to coastal cleaners and they continue to wow me. To begin I am very sweaty lol. It may not seem like much but getting the smell of sweat is very hard, so hard in fact that other cleaners I have tried just spray something over it making it smell 10 times worse! My first time at coastal cleaners I did not tell them of my sweaty armpit problem but they still did the best job I had seen so far. And the turn around for picking up my clothes is fantastic. Anddddd I love that they open before 8am. The last time I got my clothes cleaned I told them of my problem and they went above and beyond! They called me because my sweat problem would take extra time, to give me full confidence and what was going to happen and when it would be ready. Even with having to be at a conference the next day, we were able to find a way to get the armpits smelling fresh with a few directions when I took my clothes home. I am so wowed and happy and ready to take over this law conference on Capitol Hill with leaps and bounds. Although it's a little pricey because they are so close to my home and work so fast I truly don't mind. And I only say it's pricey because I'm in law school and everything is pricey lol. read more

I used Coastal Carolina Cleaners for multiple items recently and they did a great job and got the items done on time -- a suit and men's dress shirts. My wife also took her wedding dress here and they really put in the extra effort to keep the cost down for her, and they did a great job on that as well. FYI, it seems the Mt P location is the "main" one and the other locations are mainly satellite pickup/drop-off locations. If you have a wedding dress I suggest visiting the Mt P location directly. After years of being a customer, I took in a cotton window panel that shrunk 6 inches during cleaning. I spoke to the owner who said he would pay to let out the hem of the curtain, but would not pay to have the other five panels in the same bedroom done. I reminded him that I also could not replace $400 worth of curtians that no longer match. I asked if he would please clean one more panel and alter it so the two on that window would match and he agreed. Then he altered the one panel which is still not the same length and returned the other one untouched. I have taken hundreds of dollars of dry cleaning and alterations to this location. The woman who does the alterations certainly knows me as I am a frequent customer. Recently I took a pair of pants in for hemming and she pinned it up and showed me and it was the right length. When I picked them up they were an inch and a half too long. I'm not the kind of person to return things but I took them back and asked her to fix it. I wasn't expecting a fight about it. She was completely rude and said it wasn't her fault and blamed me for not approving the length and she said that I would have to pay for a second job. I will have to get them altered again, but never there. They have lost all of my business for the future. By the way, hemming a pair of pants is $25 there!!! Don't waste your time. read more

That is completely untrue. We were never told that it would not be done by the seamstress. I opted to have all the buttons replaced as that would make the coat look better. Even though we were told it would be more expensive. I had no problem with paying more for quality work. The less expensive option was to remove one of the buttons from the other side, leaving only 3 buttons on each sleeve. I hoped to get the coat back to the original appearance so I said go ahead and replace them all...even though it was more expensive. We even discussed this in person with the seamstress. She was the person we handed the sport coat to when we dropped it off. Since the seamstress is not at this location daily, we had come in on a day when she was there so we could specifically discuss it with her. We were never told that the work would be done by "someone who knows how to sew". This is a complete fabrication to try and cover up very poor service on multiple visits. When we had issues with the coat (all the buttons falling off almost immediately) and we went back to discuss it...we were treated very rudely. At that point...we just wanted our money back.
