I used Sea Island Suds as a drop-off laundry service three times while I was waiting for my apartment to be ready. There's not much to say about them, other than that you drop off your laundry, they wash and fold it, and you pick it up. 'nuff said. They're quick, and turn around your laundry in about eight hours, and don't charge extra to hang up shirts or pants. Unfortunately, they don't iron, but that's fine, I could take care of that in my hotel. So, here's the question you ask yourself - For two loads of laundry, do you spend $4/load for wash and dry, plus sit in a crappy laundromat, or do you drop your laundry off, spend $16, and have everything taken care of. The manager in charge was very helpful. The machines that worked were fine but many of them needed repair. There were machines for employees only? though the manager let us use them. The place needed to be cleaned, upgraded with paint and better organized. I liked the fact that the balances on the machine payment card could be applied to the local food bank....hopefully that was the case. read more

This was my first time trying this laundromat based on the high reviews. Most of the washers and dryers were out of order. They operate on a card reloading system, which was great. Don't love the new hours, drop off was out of my price point. Stopping in, my experience was that some of the machines are touch-&-go but great when they work! Sea Island Suds turned and very bad day into a good one. My dryer broke and I had several loads of wet clothes. I'm on IOP and the laundromat there was rude, unfriendly and did not want me there. The little man told me that me drying my laundry there cost him money. It's a long tale but thankfully I found Sea Island Suds. Miss Patience walked me through using the machines and the money card system they use. The place is clean and bright and they have a nice area to sit and read while your clothes are drying They also participate in One CommunityCHS. I have noticed that the temperature of the dryers say high, but they have been turned down to a lower temperature than high because the clothes are not even warm when they come out and so you have to pay more money to get your clothes dry because the temperature isn't really set on high even though it says it is. I know of another laundromat that costs less and drys better so that is where I am going to go from now on. read more

When I need a commercial washer/dryer, I go here. I had such a great experience both times I went. Margaret is so wonderful helping me purchase the card I needed to use the machines. She pointed me to washer that was opened and made it so easy. They do not accept credit card or Apple Pay. Cash only. That was a tough one to find cash, as I didn't have a debit card on me. Very clean lots of washers and dryers, folding tables are plentiful and spread out well.

Clean, new machines, well lit, attentive staff, great location, and no odd rules about only drying clothes here that you washed here. They have a chalkboard and little desk for the kiddies, if you have them in tow. The dry cycles are 30 cents, not a quarter, and they use a system where you place money on a card to activate the machines, which means you may leave with a little more money tied up than you otherwise would. But hey, this place almost makes going to the laundromat pleasant. read more

The location is great and place is spotless. However......no comforters or cat or dog beds even if they are dehaired first. There are certain machines you can use but must get exact instructions like you are going to blow the place up if you wash something wrong, But the big bad thing? The dryers on high are turned down so low that a comforter would take a week to dry and regular clothes take forever. This is intentional to save on the electric bill or else the machines need to be replaced. After the first 15 minute of drying time my regular thin gym clothes and t shirts were not even warm to the touch. Not one thing, even underwear could be taken out dry. It took a good 30 minutes and I still took home damp things. read more

Clean, there is an attendant (and an adorable pup!) and the best part is that they don't accept animal laundry!! No fur hanging from the sides of the washers, thank God. The only neg: VERY expensive. Other than that, yes, I can come back. read more

They are never open any more when we are in town and need services. They open late and close early. Pointless.... I predict with lax way they run their biz, they will be out of biz soon. Half the washer dryers are broken down most the time anyway. read more

Our washing machine broke so we decided to use their laundry by the pound service. Yeah, I'm lazy. Drop off by 11 and it's done by 5 (most times) either way you get it the same day! 19.5 pounds will run about $25. I've left random things like money (dollars not cents) and keycards in my shorts. Excellent service! Always helpful! I have been using every two weeks for three years and have always found it to be clean, safe, and friendly. Lots of tables for folding, rolling baskets for easy transfer between washers and dryers. To use the appliances you need to get a free laundry card and load money on to card So bring Cash. Location is perfect with a Harris Teeter and multiple restaurants nearby should you wish to pick up something before or after. My Go to Place! read more

I used the large washer for a comforter, as directed by the manager, but my comforter came out dirtier than before it was washed! There was hair, pieces of fabric, and feathers all over it. The manager said that they are not responsible if their machines damage or soil my items and would not re-wash the item. She called the owner to leave a message to call me, but the owner never returned the call. I have left another message with the owner and will update if I get a call back this time. I have been here twice to do large amount of laundry. The owner is great! She was very helpful my first time and understanding especially when I had all 3 kids with me. Second time same experience! With my dryer being broken I'm sure to be back multiple times!! Highly recommend!!! read more

As soon as I walked in I saw signs for "No rugs" posted everywhere. I have a large cotton bath rug I wanted to wash and that was the primary reason I went there in the first place. HATE the laundry card system. Even after you put your money in and get a card, the balance is always ZERO. So when you do a couple of loads of wash, you don't know what's left on it. And all the large dryers were out of order. Not exactly what I call a reliable business. Fix your machines and do away with those stupid cards; I don't like not knowing how much I spent per load and a total. Can you say "Ripoff"?? read more

I needed to clean 5 duvets and 3 matress pads in one weekend at an out of town location. I studied the web and was impressed with Sea Island Suds web page and made contact with the owner. I was able by text to make an appointment and chose to be assisted in doing the work myself to clean the bedding. I was assisted every step of the way. My bedding turned out perfect, and I was able to save quite a bit on the cost of the work. I found the laundry very clean and the machines in good order. Not maintained or staffed properly. When, not if you have an issue with their machines taking your money noone will be around to help ypu. No number, working email, notta. Machines are also dirty and filled with dried gum and god know what else. Don't waste your time or money. Good riddance to these jackasses. Hey! Nice retort about two years later. How those gum filled dryers and musty washers working out for you? I didn't encourage anyone to write bad reviews. I was just citing my experience at your laundromat. If other reviews came in poorly since mine, chalk it up to shared consumer experience. That's so nice that you are a small family owned business. Mt. Pleasant has lots of those. Perhaps you should focus your energies on running a better facility and have those gross machines cleaned by a large professional company that knows what they are doing. Still up-charging for faux "hot" water washes when the sinks in the place barely get luke warm on the hottest of summer days (I.e. no hot water coming thru the pipes even when place is empty and one washer running)? Plenty of other places to do laundry in the area where your clothes don't come out of the washer smelling like mold and the dryers don't leave gunk stuck to your clothes. The only thing I would wash at this place is a load of oily garage rags to keep them out of my home machines. Looks like other folks have the same idea! Do Not Go Here! Broken machines take your clothes and money. Employees are incredibly rude and defensive. The employee on the weekend brings at least one child, poor thing cries and is miserable the whole time. read more

Many machines are out of order; dryers I used did not really dry; place was not clean and the staff!...WOW! Not big on customer service is the best I can say about them. Brenda was overtly rude while Kristi hid her disdain a bit better. After being challenged by these women, I asked about the owner and was told that Grace Crawford could be contacted ONLY by slipping a note under her office door (which I did). I do not believe this place would still be in business were there not such a scarcity of laundromats in Mt Pleasant. I will be driving to another area of town next week. Wish me luck read more

As other Yelpers have noted, this place is pretty gross and too spendy for the big machines. My clothes smelled funky after coming out of the washer and dryer and I had black streaks on my "clean" white sheets from gunk in the dryers. Clothes were still very sudsy after two rinses. No hot water coming from the sinks here which leads me to believe washers do not pull hot water either. You would be better served driving to another Mt. Pleasant laundromat. read more
