I am writing to highly recommend Coastal Collision and Towing (Pawtucket, RI) as the only place to go for car repair after a collision. Mr. Jimmy Martin, owner, walked me through every step that was needed to get my car repaired after a delivery truck hit my car that was legally parked on the street. He kept me informed about negotiations with the adjuster and with the insurance company for the delivery truck, which is part of a fleet of trucks for a national company. When I picked up the car there wasn't a scratch or mark. The car looks brand new! Jimmy Martin replaced the two front tires on my car when I shared concerns about the front tire that was hit in the accident and not covered by the truck's insurance company. Mr. Martin replaced my two front tires and would not accept my check to cover the cost. He said he cared more for the safety of his customers on the road than my check. I was sent here to get my car fixed after an accident. The owner is a nice guy but the work done on my car was a disaster. After 1 1/2 years the area that was repaired was literally cracking. At first I thought it was just paint until my mechanic told me it was a structural error and whoever repaired it didn't do it right. I reached out to the owner cause he was nice guy the first go round but instead I got the manager Ryan who said he's familiar with the problem because a lot of people has been coming back for the same reason because the mechanic that is now fired did a bunch of faulty work on other cars I wasn't the only one. I informed him that my car is already being fixed is there any way we can come to some type of agreement for Coastal Collision to cover it and he said okay let me call you back after I speak with the owner. He calls me back and said you need to go pick up your car and bring it here. I informed him the car is already being fixed and repaired and he's like well tell them to stop. I let him know I live in Boston and is there going to be a rental for me because that should be covered and he told me I need to be grateful because they could've totaled my car and they saved it. What does that have to do what the problem at hands I have no clue. I asked to speak to the owner and he said yeah and hung up. After speaking with the owner I still have to come out of pocket $700 for faulty work that they knew was going on but didn't inform any of the customers whose car was worked on by him. I even tried to compromise with them and say at least give me half and they said no so now I have to through insurance because 8600 was given to them to repair a car that wasn't repair correctly. They didn't try to compensate or help in anyway but to say bring the car back to us. My car is fixed and after that type of faulty work I would never trust them again. Be careful when working with them because this could've ended really bad for me had I not taken immediate action. The fact they knew and didn't say nothing to the customer or have them come in shows me not to trust them. NEVER AGAIN. Coastal Collision Center is a reliable, swift, and professional collision center. A friend referred me to seek out support from John after experiencing my first car accident. I was frazzled and did not know what was my best options and I really needed my car repaired ASAP. John worked with me through and through and in a matter of two in a half weeks my car was repaired. It would have been sooner but my insurance agents were not as professional as John and took over a week to go check out the damages but for the sake of this review I am not counting that week. John was very communicative and kept me updated about the progress of the repairs the full duration my car was in the shop! And on top of that everyone in the office is friendly! When I received my car it was squeaky cleaned inside as well they even left complimentary souvenirs and a thank you card for doing business with them which made the experience even better. Okay, so a deep, dramatic plunge from 5 to 1 stars. How could this happen? I'll tell you: these dudes lied. I've been sitting on this review for oh, three months. See, this is what happened: we were in another accident. Hard to believe, but true. A block away from our home, some poor old man rounded the corner and hit us smack in the front. Smack. Bumper scuffed, we headed right back to Coastal Collision. In a world where cars are now mostly computers, we should all know this: don't force it. If it's not working, if it's not releasing, moving, clicking, starting or stopping, don't force it. I know this, you know this. Unfortunately, the dudes at Coastal Collision don't. So we brought our beloved Saab in for repair. It became a complicated series of issues that I won't even begin to go on about in detail, but here's the gist: Coastal tried to blame THEIR mistake on the poor old guy who hit us. They forged the magnetic key out of the ignition, completely messing up the computer system and, upon realizing this, lied to us and told us it was because of the accident. We had the insurance claims adjuster out several times, even interviewing our body shop guy to make sure this couldn't be from the collision. One month later -- one entire frigging month -- and Coastal was cornered. They had to pay for the damages but only did so begrudgingly. Honestly, no way to run a business. They've certainly lost mine. read more

It's tough to rate this business this low being that the staff is polite and accommodating. However, one part of the service quality -- a larger part -- is the work quality itself so brutal honesty is it. Plus, you deserve to know. Sent my car here on the strong recommendation of a relative. Not very proactive on status reports. Had to call several times to find out what the deal is. You know, pick up and stuff. My first time, after all, to have this work done due to an accident. Told me they'll take care of my car rental fees. Great. Sadly, I had to pay liability. Asked them on the reco of my then insurance, Progressive, to see how they can help. They said they will give me a break on liability. When I asked for the rental payment AFTER my card was charged by the rental company, I was told that the break they gave me on my liability was it. Gee, thanks for being clear on that one. First time after I picked up my car, noticed my lights had a perennial fog inside them. Returned after much hesitation. Was told that the lights were not original because of insurance stipulations. Whaaaat? They "happily" replaced. A week later, someone else noticed my hood is misaligned. Hmmm...returned again. Great. Fixed. Then noticed my passenger door wouldn't shut tight...returned again. Well, folks, every single time they are cheerful and friendly in taking my car back in. Good lot of people. Still, did I really have to come back 3 times (weeks apart, at that)? And what was the deal with that giving me a break on liability then deciding, amongs themselves, to consider that the rental money. SMH read more

I brought my Mini Cooper JCW there after an accident and I could not be more pleased with the work they did. They used all brand new parts from the dealer. No used parts. No aftermarket parts. The paint work is flawless and you can not detect what was freshly painted from the rest of the vehicle. On top of that they completely detailed the car inside and out. I do not know how they got the interior so clean, but when I picked up my car today I felt like I was picking it up new from the dealership. A++ read more

I brought my car here after my first accident. Already traumatized, I was not looking forward to dealing with my insurance company. Thankfully, Coastal handled everything. They took care of dealing with my insurance appraiser and put me in the rental equal to the size of my car while it was in the shop. The car looked better than new when I picked it up a short time later. Staff was great and the customer service was outstanding. Called to check on my car during the repair time and got an accurate report each time. Would definitely recommend to other customers. Not sure what the negative reviews are about, but I gather it has something to do with the fact that some people just DO NOT understand that insurance governs what a body shop can and cannot do, and NOT the actual body shop. If you pay for crappy insurance coverage, don't be upset when you don't get your car back in the same condition it was in before an accident because your insurance company does not want to splurge on your vehicle. You can't really blame the body shop on that one. read more

My car's entire rear was bashed in by a stupid driver, and the car was towed here. It took a long time, but the repair job was immaculate. The car looks new. They even detailed it. The other party's insurance company paid for the repair, so I don't know whether it was a good price or not, but the work was excellent, and the people were nice. read more

Felt like Im dealing with a used car lot Shady goins on. I was involved in a front end collision that was the other drivers fault. A friend referred me to this body shop. I had some aftermarket parts that were destroyed in the accident. Coastal said that they would be covered under the appraisal. I informed them that I did not want the aftermarket parts replaced but I would want a credit for the value. I knew things were going to go south when I called to check on the progress of the truck and they informed me that they were more than half way done with the work. I had not heard from the appraiser, I had not received any info from anyone. When the work was complete I picked up the truck. They had a check for only a fraction of the aftermarket parts and the front bumper was crooked. Coastal took the truck back and informed me that if I wanted the money for the aftermarket parts I would have to give them a receipt for there value. Why? I didnt have to give you a receipt for the other parts? I have pictures from the accident clearly showing the damaged parts.My truck got wrecked, your the bodyshop, why do I have to do anything?? Coastal said that if I brought them a receipt for the aftermarket parts, any receipt, it didn't matter what the date, they would get the appraiser to reimburse me. I got them the receipt. They let me know the truck was done and the first bumper didnt fit right because it was aftermarket. I never approved the use of aftermarket. The bumper wasnt aftermarket when I dropped it off!! When I called about picking up the truck I asked for the reimbursement check, Coastal said the truck was done but the "check was in the mail". WHAT? Who still says that? I want my truck back. COMPLETE. Im not playing that cat & mouse game after I take the truck and then have to chase you for my money. Checks in the mail? Awesome. You write me a check, I take my truck and you get the check thats in the mail. It's been almost 2 weeks and I have had to call them to find out they still don't have my check. I CALL BS read more

Rather than have it towed to another shop and deal with that hassle I decided to let them do the repairs for me.
