I won't name any names, but I hadn't been to the unnamed commercial spot in over 20 years. Needless to say, I was very disappointed. The waffle cone was stale and had a tinge of plastic taste. I literally thought I'd been poisoned. After looking up ice cream spots with good reviews, my daughter and I found Emmy's. It was not a disappointment at all. The ice cream flavors were limited but very premium. Although they don't make their own ice cream in-house, they get it from the best place I can think of ordering ice cream from - Wisconsin. They have a ton of really premium toppings for a great price too. Most are just $.50, with some of the nut toppings costing a dollar. My daughter tried their orange sorbet with gummy bears and the swear, they were the best gummy bears I've ever tried. I went straight for my go-to, pistachio almond. When I tell you it's stood up to some of the best Italian creamery pistachio I've had in my home town of New Orleans, I'm not exaggerating. Creamy, rich ice cream with an abundance of pistachio. All I needed was one scoop. So amazing and flavorful. Being skeptical after my last botched experience getting a waffle cone at a major franchise dessert spot, I decided to get my ice cream in their signature waffle cone. Oh. My. Goodness. It's like a confection by itself. Delicately buttery, perfectly sweet and super crispy. I hear they even make waffle cone nachos?! Aside from having great dessert, the staff is friendly and they have a nice little sitting area, complete with a soda-shop type bar to sit.
