They charged me a $300 cancellation fee because they rent the machine. Not my problem they can't afford to have an IPL machine in office full time. Most derms do. After 20 years as a patient I will not be back.

Dr. Liu is a professor at UCSD and is an MD and PhD. She did her undergrad training at Princeton, so she is the same caliber of physician I was looking for. She is very knowledgeable and professional and took care of several issues I needed addressed. There is often a wait for an appointment, but the office will put you on a waiting list to take the appointments of cancellations, and they actually do call you to come in sooner.

I made this appointment for the scars. She insisted that I get a skin patch test to make sure the test were correct. Oh and nobody ever called me regarding the result of my test from their office, I had to find out from my allergist about the result letter that they sent to her. My allergist told me that the test had inconclusive result so I did the test for nothing. Since that appointment I received 3 bills from them even after I already paid during my appointment. I paid the second bill which was over a hundred and now I'm still receiving more bills for over $200. And after calling them they said I still have an outstanding balance. That appointment was a waste of time and money, and I now have a scar where she took skin off, in addition to the scars I made the appointment for which she didn't take care of. Had to search high and low for an Immure Dermatologist because I have a very rare immune disease. I…read morehad called Dermatology Medical Group many times after my prior one w/ the grp had moved to Maul. Each time that I called (at least 8-10x's) they said that didn't have an Immure Dermatologist. In desperation, I googled "Immune Dermatologist " (San Diego ) and Dr. Scheinberg's name came up - at the DMG ! So, I called and they said that they didn't know if he was one. I assured them that he was and that he could be googled In the way that I found him. Fortunately, I was able to make an appt and what a godsend! I've had to spend huge stretches of time on 40 mg of Prednisone due to my immune disease and had gained a tremendous ant of weight be of it.. He was able to offer another highly effective alternative. And, we made a plan that if I had an outbreak, I was to come in for a specific tx to relieve the pain. He also provided me w/ specific drs there who could handle my disease if he was out of town. Dunng the last few visits, I asked him to look at my freckles on my chest. Used to have them on my face but in getting tx for Rosacea, the V- Beam removed all the massive freckles and relatives asked for yrs what happened to them.The face and the chest are a huge mismatch. He first helpfully rec'd several creams that research has shown to be effective in fading /removing them. Dunng the last visit, since I can't apply them the req'd # of x's per day,he did a consult w/me and rec'd the V - Beam. He Kindly waived the consult fee this but this seems to have caused massive problems with the front desk . I believe that's why the provider he rec'd to me cancelled today w/ very short notice. I also asked about a specific filler I'm exp'd w/ and he cleared w/ me that it has no effect on the Immune disease and gave me the specific drs that worked w/ that one which is listed on their sheet, but the front desk didn't care and wouldn't let me schedule w/ those. Was directed to another dr who, turns out when I had appt, doesn't use this one. When I saw her, first she said the results come out "too hard" and then later, " too soft ." She also said that she couldn't "lift" the upper lift like in the prior pictures I showed from over the yrs, from the very-skilled filler teacher/ specialist who retired. .I also have a hole in my lower lip from an oral surgeon who removed a lump many yrs ago for biopsy .. These facts and the fact that I have a genetic defect w/ my lips. This wasted $175 req'd consult fee ( has to be paid in advance to be allowed to schedule this kind of appt). I had a migraine the day of appt and feared that if I cancelled for this issue on short notice, they'd just Keep my consult fee-gone! The moral of this story is to only see Dr. Scheinberg or another dermatologist for purely dermatological issues here . In both of the other situations which are more cosmetically related ( the freckles and lips ), I've been treated severely disrespectfully and like dirt and will look elsewhere. Also, I've had the best prior practitioner who had offices in Beverly Hills and Encino which treated me in a friendly, respectful manner, didn't require a consul fee in advance and were actually less costly (until he retired recently ). I will keep looking for my filler and freckle specialists elsewhere in San Diego. Yet, I can't stress enough What a highly respectful, friendly and reliable super- specialist Dr Scheinberg is. He has helped and continues to help me immensely, I am very lucky to have him helping me.A true gem!
