' I am surprised that so many reviewers said they were asked to empty their pockets and purses to check them for shoplifting. At least they didn't make me do that. This is not the kind you find at big box stores; this is solid furniture. (Not cheap.) They delivered promptly. We ordered a rug that took a long time (supply chain - not P+P) but they kept checking on it for us and delivered it the day it came in. Customer service in both locations is terrific! They also have beautiful ceramic plant pots at St Simons.

She made sure to meow and demand pets and followed me around which made me absolutely have to buy something. I am a sucker. They carried my favorite soap line- Naked Bee Honey products, but didn't have any bar soap- boo, I tend to buy all in stock when I find it and it's always at small stores! Instead I found a hefty slab of geode crystal with agate- but it wasn't priced. I had a number in my head I would go up to and they sold it to me for less! Yippee~ sold! I found one here as well as carved wood piece to add to an art project I'm working on, a sculpture to donate to a charity auction I help, and a $1 Wild Republic stuffed owl that I actually had in my Amazon cart for $30! At checkout I met another Philly native who was very positive and friendly. He informed me more about the store and its functions, and made me feel very welcome and appreciated. Very good experience! I asked a lot of questions and he was very helpful, even explaining that he was unpacking a shipment of stickers and could show me more if I wanted to browse. Loved their Jekyll Island patch ($6) which is a fun souvenir and a way to fund the JI Authority stewarding the island. JI logo items are priced as expected for a pro shop/souvenir place. Shirts about $38, hats $25, etc. They offer fishing gear but it's more Orvis and less RealTree. Honestly in all my years visiting the island, I have yet to see preppy dudes fishing. True, they may head out from the dock on a deep sea trip, and club guests may need to pop in and shop, but the fisherpeople we have met are campers catching dinner, locals doing the same, or folks from an hour or so in all directions, coming with a cooler to catch a day's haul for a month's sustenance. I see where the Authority wants Jekyll to head for the dollars, but it's at the expense of the diversity and appeal to folks of certain economic demographics. But I guess if the Orvis set can support this shop then great (my husband did fly and reel fishing with plenty of Orvis gear, but in retrospect, it wasn't necessary to catch a fish). Pier Road Outfitters is a mix of JI souvenirs, JI logo active wear, and some basic fishing supplies. It is not as extensive as the tackle shop at Clam Creek, which is bigger, and caters a lot more to practical needs for all things fishing. Pier Road Outfitters is a handy stop to find a souvenir that is also high enough quality active gear you would want to wear as part of your wardrobe, so function-meets-style-meets-JI memories.
