Love the history of this practice. I applied for a position on indeed. The manager Nicole messaged me about setting up an interview and I replied back. But never heard back for about 2 weeks. Then Summer replied to set up a phone call interview, no time frame for the phone interview was scheduled. I gave her my availability for her to pick a day and time she would like to do the phone interview she called me and I missed the call. I immediately called her back and was sent to her voicemail. The next day I messaged her on indeed stating I returned her call and let her a message, no answer for several days. So I came into the office to introduce myself since there was a bit of back and forth and waiting for a reply. I waiting 30 mins before Summer came to speak with me. Now for the interesting part..... I'll tell you. I have never in my life had such an unprofessional interview in my life!!! First of all Summer didn't introduce herself. I was told to come into her office and sit, no eye contact or anything she looked over my resume. And asked about why I left a previous employer and stated I have been to a lot of eye practices, stating that when she sees an applicant that has been to that many offices she assumes that they are a "the problem." I corrected her stating that several of the eye doctors offices were internships from when I was in College for my A.S degree as an Ophthalmic Technician at FSCJ. I informed her that I only worked at 2 Doctors offices and the latest one merged with another practice. Then the interview made a weird turn of her cussing at me and talking about how she does not tolerate drama, and went over the attendance policy. Her words "if you do not have PTO you cannot take off." " I don't tolerate the petty shit. I had taken a long time to get the office to have a certain culture and I'm not going to ruin that on someone like that." She even called her own manager a "bitch" which was super unprofessional. And talked about how her current manager above her doesn't do much and how she has so many responsibilities in her position. Summer also asked me about a former employee I worked with at my former employers office wanting to know why they were terminated and if he's a good employee. Again very unprofessional. And the interview is pertaining to myself not someone else! I felt like I was being scolded by my mother. I have never been cussed out and scolded in an interview or accused to being a job hopper or a problem! I understand every office has an attendance policy and what is not tolerated. But to be scolded and cussed at as if I did something wrong. Yeah no thanks! I've meet many of Coastal visions previous employees that left because of management, and I can see exactly why! Not the kind of place I would want to work at or my friends or family go to. read more

I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes by Dr Capritta Roberts. I cannot say enough good about the Red Carpet treatment I received throughout the entire process. I used to wear glasses to drive and other glasses to read. I no longer need any glasses! Very thankful for The Team! read more

The technician broke my glass frames when adjusting them. Told me it was too bad but adjustments are at my own risk, so they have no responsibility. So I walked in with glasses that needed a little adjustment and walked out with unwearable glasses. It's enough to make you angry. read more

Coastal was not completely forthcoming about the eye surgery. They were upfront about the $7500+ for the trifocal lens implant but didn't mention the $5000+ the hospital was going to charge. Also, the surgery allows daytime vision without glasses, but glare & rings at night prevent safe driving. They did mention the rings might occur but said they would probably go away. They did not mention that the glare would prevent night driving. read more

Went to Coastal Vision for an contract lens exam. After the exam went to the front to pay for my exam. A month later I receive a bill. The bill did not show a credit for the amount paid on date of service. It only showed that I had a balance due. I call the office in Fernandina and got a vague answer that did not make any sense. Finally after much back and forth, I was able to receive a list of charges that were not included on the bill. The previous year, at the same place, the cost was not nearly as expensive. As a consumer, I felt like I was being taken advantage with a bill that did not make sense. Buyer beware! read more

It's been a long time since I've been treated the way I was today. If you're disabled, medically needy, or without every type of overpriced insurance on the market-don't come here. I desperately need glasses, but will wait to find a place where their front office worker (one of them, to be fair) isn't so blatantly disrespectful to a disabled woman in a wheelchair. As previous reviewer said, they are not upfront about their billing. My Blue Cross representative even called them to try to get a CPT code which is required in order to get reimbursed from insurance. Coastal Vision would not provide the CPT codes. After $8500, I can't see at night. I can't drive at night. I paid for trifocal lenses and I paid for their super Duper computer to put the lenses in perfectly but actually very and perfectly. I'm supposed to be able to see close, then about 12 inches away to see my laptop and then distant. Right now, I can't drive at night because of the incredible star pattern that's showing up, I can't see close so I have to use a magnifying glass and I can't see my laptop. So three out of four things they got wrong for $8500. $6000 of that could have been sent to Blue Cross had they been willing to provide CPT codes which the American medical association requires. My dad had a very similar experience and they never fixed it. Somebody Hass to stand up to these people and that somebody is me. I wish other clients would stand up to them. The last thing a doctor on a small island needs is a lawsuit. And now I have several people who are interested in pursuing that. read more

I am a relatively new patient of less than a year with this optometry office. At each visit, I have had the most professional and kind treatment of any office I have visited. Particularly, during this past challenging hear of Covid, this office has displayed significant care in their safety to the patients. Both the clinical portion of the practice and the optic shop have been amazing. Dr. Stubits is extremely knowledgeable and kind in his manner. There were no significant waiting times, either. Trish, in the optic shop, has been fantastic helping me with my eye ware. This challenging time with all of the restrictions due to Covid, can bring the best or the worst out of an individual. I've had many eye exams in several states with vision insurance and never have I had to pay the extreme cost of the Coastal Vision Center. When someone makes an appointment and gives insurance information, I would think the office would warn you before taking extra pictures, etc that there will be additional costs. I have asked them not to remind me to come back! Also, for the cost, you would expect NOT to have to wait as long as I did. I was there for over an hour and fifteen minutes because of too many people being examined at the same time. read more

Dr. McClane & the staff were amazing. I've had plenty of optometrists over the years and never have been so impressed by one optometrist and his staff. Southern hospitality was at it's finest when I, a desperate single married military wife, had no one else to watch her kids. The staff offered to watch my kids while I was in my appt. (for the record, my kids are really well-behaved, so I'm sure that's why they made the exception). My daughter even got gum in her hair and they helped her remove it. Dr. McClane and his staff are super-friendly, knowledgeable, and not pushy at all. I miss this office dearly and rushed to get an appointment before we left the area to head to our next duty station. I highly recommend this office and definitely miss going here in our short time in FL. read more

Very disappointed. Saw Dr. Herin in April and was referred to Dr. Kulak. Made my appointment and it was for today. When I arrived they said I didn't have an appointment and according to my record no appointment had been made. My question is I didn't know the Dr. name she was just referred to me as a specialist, so HOW DID I have the name and time. The way I was addressed was very condescending. I was offered another appointment next month of which I told her it was unacceptable. i told her to keep the appointment card and that I would not be back. This is a fake review. The will not let me review unless I put 5 stars. I was not satisfied with my cataract surgery The Doctor had 21 surgeries on same day. Received little to no help in resolving my issues. I still require glasses for distance in which the Doctor said distance would not be a problem. This is an eye doctor's office not a primary care office where the chance of getting covid is higher. The office demands you wear a mask. They will provide with you a surgical mask which has a 11% efficiency rate. Some of their employees wear cloth masks which have 0 protection. I am vaccinated and was told I had to wear a mask. If this doctor truly cares about not having his office spreading the virus, then he should provide N-95 or N-99 masks to office staff and pts who want to wear a mask. I refuse to wear something that does not provide protection. The covid rate is less than 5% in FL this week. It is not because this doctor made people wear masks. It is because more people have been vaccinated and because of herd immunity. That's is the real science Dr.  My husband (a MD) and I will take our business somewhere else. The office staff was rude as the shoved their ineffective masks at me. Trust me not all doctors will force a mask on you. read more

She was up-to-date on new eyewear offerings and did an excellent job finding the perfect eyewear to satisfy my style and needs. I can't comment on the services Dr. McClane could provide as I never made it past the Front Desk. What a totally rude and unprofessional experience. The initial intake was OK with Cindy but the visit turned absolutely horrible when a question came up about my insurance - after checking in. My vision care is processed by a non-insurance company called Meritain. When the initial call was made to make an appointment, Meritain was discussed and it was determined that it was in their system so the appointment was made. After check-in, I was called back up to the desk (not by Cindy) and asked who my insurance company was. I told another employee that I had Meritain and she told me they didn't take that insurance. I explaining that Meritain only processed the claims, that they we not the insurance provider. She then asked who my insurance provider was, and when I told her I didn't know, that started her tirade. How could I not know my insurance provider, how I had to pay upfront, how I needed to be the one to call and find out who the provider was. I was told I was rude when I suggested that she be the one to call. I had enough of her unprofessionalism and took my paperwork and left. I always choose to vote with my money. And so ended my relationship with Coastal Vision. read more

I was in Amelia Island about a week ago. I woke up in the middle of the night with something in my eye. I went straight to this office when they opened without an appointment. I was concerned when I saw so many patients in the office. They were so efficient and accommodating. They found the debris in my eye and removed it. I was in and out of the office within 45 minutes without an appointment and they also saw all the other patients and got them in and out quickly as well. I was very impressed with this office and would highly recommend this practice. read more

I've been a client of theirs for a few years now, but I'm done. After the number of issues I've had, they don't deserve my business. Like many have stated before, the vision care they provide is adequate - it's the administration. I went for my annual checkup in April 2019. I have vision insurance and pay a small co-pay. In June 2020 - over a year later - I get a bill for the full amount of the visit. When I called they said they had billed the wrong insurance company and they would take care of it. In July 2020 I got the same bill now 30 days late. I called again. "Oops we forgot to submit it, we'll take care of it." In August 2020 I'm now 60 days late. They tell me they don't understand what the issue is but they'll check into and call me back. I never got a call. Yep, in September 2020 I'm now 90 days late and ready to go to collections. I call again - twice. No response. So I'm going to pay the bill that I shouldn't have to pay. They'll also collect the insurance I'm sure and get double paid. And I guarantee I'll never see the money. Avoid them. read more
