Have been here for broken ribs, eye and ear infections. Made appointments in advance. Received prompt and helpful care.

I visited Amelia Urgent Care (510 Airport Center Dr, Jacksonville) on 9/1/25 while very sick. They…read moretested me for COVID and strep, both came back negative. The provider prescribed antibiotics and specifically suggested I might need to miss work Wednesday and Thursday, advising me to rest and return if I wasn't improving. By Wednesday I was still very ill, so I called to ask for a work excuse note. Shockingly, I was told they could not provide one since it had been "two days" since my visit. When I asked if I could come in for reevaluation to get a note, they said yes--then immediately called me back to say that even if I came in for another sick visit, they still would not issue a note. I was left with no choice but to go back to work, feeling terrible and contagious. The next day, my daughter spiked a 102 fever. On Friday, I took both kids to their pediatrician (NOT this clinic) where they both tested positive for COVID. That means I was almost certainly positive at Amelia, despite their negative test. At the time, I had already suspected the swab wasn't done properly since the staff looked hesitant to get close enough for a proper sample. Turns out, I was right. Because of their poor testing and refusal to provide a simple work excuse--something their own provider suggested--I ended up working nearly three days while sick and unknowingly spreading COVID to others. This was not only negligent for me and my family, but also unsafe for the community. I will not be returning here and cannot recommend this clinic. If you're sick, I strongly suggest going elsewhere for care that actually protects patients and the public.

His entire team is amazing and take great care of you. I also highly recommend Dr Freidl, he did my knee replacement a couple years ago and did prp in my other knee so I could wait a couple years before having the other knee replaced. He explains everything so you can understand it well. His entire team is amazing as well. I'm very happy to have the ortho team on my side. Thank you UF Health North Ortho Team and nursing staff in the surgery unit for going above and beyond for your patients. We love yall

The hospital has changed a lot since it first opened. It used to feel much more patient-focused and much cleaner. While in the ER, my dad had an accident with his tubing, and urine and feces ended up everywhere. The next morning, I was cleaning the sink myself with disinfectant wipes from their cabinet. After surgery, he was moved to B Tower, 4th Floor. While the doctors were excellent, the nurses were not pleasant or helpful. Sunday he had several family members visiting and helping him. On Monday, July 27, my dad called the family asking someone to bring him ice from Circle K because the nurses kept telling him the ice machine was broken. After not eating for seven days, making sure he had ice should have been a priority. I called the patient advocate to ask what the problem was. My dad had also been told physical therapy would come Monday to get him up and walking after surgery, but that never happened. Instead, my grandson got him out of bed and brought him ice. The patient advocate said she would visit him Tuesday, but she never did. When I visited Tuesday, his call button and TV remote were lying on the floor. He said the overnight nurse had dropped them and left without putting them back within his reach. At discharge, the doctors prescribed three medications and were told to send them to Walgreens on Main Street. Instead, they were sent to Express Scripts, meaning his pain medication and antibiotics would take one to two weeks to arrive. Common sense says those are medications a patient needs immediately after surgery, not weeks later. On Thursday, while I was there, a discharge nurse called to ask if he needed anything. He explained the prescription mix-up, and her response was simply, "I'm sorry, I can't help with that. You'll have to call back." The doctors provided excellent care, but I can't say the same about the nursing staff or overall hospital experience. It's disappointing to see how far this hospital's patient care has declined. It was a nightmare.
