I don't typically write Yelp reviews but I've got to put in a five star for these guys. They work so conscientiously. Neat, quiet and just generally all around nice guys. But ultimately the work quality and product are what matters and they went above and beyond with the prep, even doing stucco patching that other shops said I'd have to figure out on my own. My job included some fussy details and they nailed it. I asked for an extra detail (paint the electric meter box) at the end and they took care of it no questions. I've gone with cheap bozo contractors before and learned that you get what you pay for. Pay for Coastal West Painting, they're not even the most expensive and you won't regret it. read more

I had my cement stairs stained, the several story rough finish exterior plywood done with a heavy body stain and some unexpected and expected repairs from rot. My deck has lots of spindles. Kevin noticed all the ones that were iffy and replaced them, greatly improving safety. His bid wasn't the lowest but close enough for me to feel well treated. This is a honest, professional, focused service that I recommend without reservation. What a guy and what a team. No mess (my neighbor is fussy when it's her place and my workers but not the reverse, unfortunately) with cleanup on a daily basis. His advice was always right, I found out... and when I didn't follow it at first and then changed my mind, he pleasantly performed the change to what he'd said all along without making me feel foolish. Now there's a thoughtful fellow. Kevin B's. knowledge is broad, with great caulking and other prep work. I wish I knew him when I had my place painted 20 yrs ago. The difference in quality is startling from that paint job. I have learned through the years and also from watching Coastal West Painting's performance. Kevin does a lot of the finish work himself so the quality control is superfine tho his team is excellent, literally never careless, and with great attitudes. It is older, and has a lot of various trim and wainscot, To make it challenging there have been many different repair and remodels over the decades. It seemed very challenging. I called 2 painters to meet me, at a home we were not yet living in, for an estimate. The first 1 never showed up. I found Kevin and Coastal West on yelp. And he was there on time and gave us an estimate. I had no clue what colors we were going to choose but had some ideas. He was able to help in choosing some colors. Once we signed the contract, Kevin was able to start and finish the project in the short time that we had. The work was extremely professional. We even had an issue with the bedroom windows and blinds. We had a small gap between the window and the wall and he was able to fill the space! The work was awesome. I cannot recommend CWP highly enough. The job kept changing as we were working with our landlord, and the budget was not entirely clear. Here's why: - Prep was fantastic - Kevin spent a lot of time working with me on different color options for both the shingle stain and the body/siding paint. He provided some clever photoshop mockups, then came by in person multiple times to present different combinations and make color adjustments as requested. "Above and beyond the call of duty" is an understatement. - Kevin's super communicative, easy to work with, fun. - Pricing is not the cheapest in town, but I can't emphasize this enough, you get what you pay for and this cliche is so true when it comes to this sort of work. Kevin's pricing was better than 2/3 of the bids I saw and I think his quality is the best. So, I would work with Kevin again in a heartbeat. He's got a fan for life in me. read more

Money well spent! I couldn't be happier with the job Coastal West did on the interior of my house. This was the first time I ever hired a pro to do the work and im glad I did! Before the paint went on the wall Kevin made me aware of many different visual perspectives on my color/placement choice I wasn't taking into consideration. If you ask, he will really give you some great input on your job...you feel like you're in a "This Old House" episode. lol, seriously. His estimate was dead-on and the work was totally pro. I have rounded corners in the house, the painting lines were so perfect it now looks like ninety degree corners! Had I done the job myself it would have taken four days and not looked half as good. We needed a new coat of paint in our living room, which included a set of built in bookcases that I had built from scratch and installed over several months. His rates were reasonable, service was friendly and professional, and he went out of his way to make sure we loved the room before he considered the job complete. If you are looking for a painting contractor that shows up on time, does a professional job (he repaired small things like the trim along the base board and sealing all the cracks in the ceiling/walls) and completes the project in record time (he painted our 1 bedroom apartment and kitchen including inside the cabinets in less than 3 days), then call Kevin. We originally called 3 different painting companies for an estimate, however we decided to go with Kevin because of the reviews he received and they are much deserved. We especially appreciate that he came by after painting our place to help us get the windows unstuck. In addition, he was understanding and reasonable when we didn't realize the painting of the apartment didn't include the trim and eventually, we worked out an agreement and were able to get the trim painted. He also helped us stay within our budget by having us do some minor prep work. Our apartment looks so much better, fresher and brighter....we highly recommend Kevin. I'm very pleased with the work of Coastal West Painting. In June 2014, Coastal West painted the exterior of my two-story house, built in 1907. It needed routine surface preparation, no special repairs. Kevin was helpful in choosing colors, discussing my choices and adding his input, but letting me make the ultimate decision, which I think was greatly improved with his guidance. Kevin and his staff were easy and pleasant to communicate with. Staff were respectful and careful of the property while working on it. I appreciated Kevin's willingness to answer my questions and, in regards to two missteps, he was extremely honest and quick to make corrections. We recently had the exterior of our two story craftsman painted. We are very pleased with the job Coastal West Painting did. Kevin was great. His estimate was reasonable and he gave a five year warranty on the work they did. Even though stairs are not included in the warranty, we had some small issues, and Kevin came out and fixed the problems himself. The crew was careful not to get paint on anything besides the house, and left the yard spotless.
