The roofing work performed on my home did not meet accepted industry standards and has resulted in significant and preventable damage. The attic was left improperly vented, causing temperatures to reach 120 degrees, which indicates a clear failure to install adequate ventilation as required by standard roofing practices and manufacturer guidelines. Additionally, the pitch of my kitchen roof was not addressed correctly. A low slope roof should have been installed with a rubber membrane, not shingles. The decision to use shingles on a roof with this pitch directly contributed to ice dam formation and subsequent water intrusion into my kitchen ceiling. This is a well documented risk associated with shingling low slope surfaces, and any qualified roofing professional should have known and disclosed this. These errors have created ongoing structural and moisture related issues that will require corrective work at my expense. Based on the deficiencies in workmanship and the failure to follow established roofing standards, I cannot recommend or support this company read more

The sales people were helpful but also felt very much a sales pitch- they did not have some of the specific products we wanted, but did go out of their was to find one of the patio doors that they initially did not think they could get. They also did not itemize the bill and when we asked for an itemized bill told us their computer program did not know how to itemize. To me that made no sense and leaves me feeling like we may have been ripped off with our prices We ordered our windows on April 10 and told it would be 4-6 weeks until delivery. We did not get them until June 24 (10 weeks). This took a lot of time and energy pushing- they kept pushing back the timeframe and at one point told us mid- July. This may not be an issue if you are just getting replacement windows, but we are doing an addition and cannot get the inspection until the windows are in place. The delay on this delayed our entire project. That being said, our architect drew the plans for our skylights wrong, and the sales person actually helped us get the correct size quickly (like the same day we started to install!) it was very helpful and above and beyond for him to do that (though I'm not sure if he could get them the same day why we couldn't get all of our windows sooner!!) . read more

Coastal was unprofessional and incompetent during every single step of the process. They misquoted the job, then tried to hit me with a 25% extra charge after they missed the second layer of shingles on the quote. After pointing out that it took an extra 90 minutes to strip said shingles, they relented with some excuse about how they made a mistake on calculating the charge. Two weeks later, my new $20k roof leaks, the first leak ever at this property. They take almost two weeks to address the issue, refusing to accept any responsibility, then send their subcontractors back out to apply 10 tubes of caulk to the area leaking. It took another month, and two more visits, to get them to fix the issue, and even after they did, the entire area looks awful. Still extra caulking all over the roof, they mangled the drip edges and j-channels around the siding they replaced, and tried once again to overcharge me for fixing the leak they created. Throughout the entire process, the team took no responsibility, blaming every possible subcontractor for delays and poor work. Never once was a coastal employee on site for the work. I was lied to repeatedly throughout the process regarding timing, costs, and responsibility for fixing issues that arose. This company is incompetent at best and fraudulent at worst. I bought seven new windows about three years ago. I DO NOT recommend that anyone use Coastal Windows to replace their windows. The sale representative misrepresented the product. The windows are extremely difficult to both open and close. In fact it takes two people to close and lock them despite assurances that I (as a senior) would be able to do it by myself. This is the reason I originally purchased the windows. The actual installation was subpar. The window sills and surrounding walls were damaged. The caulking is uneven, rippling and badly cracked. The levers/locks are difficult to use and over time have become misaligned such that it is very difficult to get them into their correct position to open as well as lock. Coastal did return three times to my condo shortly after installation to address several minor problem. Each time I was assured that Coastal would be available to return and correct any future problems. Bottom line: they are very unresponsive and unprofessional. read more

Please do not use this company for any type of moderate-risk deleading or if you need any type of paper work filled out. We own a two-family house and are renting to a family in our downstairs unit for the first time since we've owned the home so we did the right thing and got a lead test - since our home was built in 1910, there was lead. We got their name off of the moderate-risk deleader contractor list provided by the state, got a quote, and signed for a job to replace window sills and window trim that had lead paint. In every communication, I made sure to mention that this was for a deleading certificate because I didn't want to end up in the mess I am now. I was assured that they could do the work related to the lead paint and the work was done quickly. When I inquired about the deleading invoice required by my lead inspector, I made sure to communicate that I needed it by the end of the week last week so I could keep my appointment with my lead inspector for a final inspection. I eventually got the paperwork on Monday morning after sending several emails and texts that went unanswered and showing up at their office with my two children ready to wait until they gave me the paperwork. The lead inspector came on Tuesday and did the dust wipe test in the apartment. I received the results today and they failed. Apparently after the company did the work, they were supposed to clean the apartment to get rid of the lead dust. They did not. Now I am waiting for someone to contact me so they can come clean the apartment properly and pay for an additional lead inspection so my tenants, a family with a 1-year-old, can move in next Saturday. This process has been so stressful and frustrating - please do not use this company. read more

I had 2 triple Payne windows put in to my front windows four years ago figuring they would keep the cold out. They hardly did I have drafts and cold coming in. Two years ago I contacted place where I got them they sent someone out and they logged the top part of my windows to keep the cold out. It was for a while but when the real cold started coming in it started again I'm really upset about these windows thinking that I was going to have a nice warm place in a turned out that way cold and drafty they are so crappy. I still have to keep the heat up so there's no low cost with energy cost here .... So the next time you really want triple pane windows, really make sure they work and I wouldn't go to coastal windows. They were not very good. read more

It took them 2 years to install my windows after 6 chances. Endless excuses, wrong size , wrong patterns, wrong contract. No accountability, no responsibility , no communications -I literally had to chase them down for every single update - until they demanded money. No changes in price. No self respecting company would charge full price being over 2 years late. No correspondence. Save your money and hassle and time. Do NOT hire these guys. The quality of the product was inferior to our Home Depot installed windows. The only reason it's not 1 star is - it's done. Thrilled I don't have to hear from them again. Blocked their numbers. Routed their sales emails to junk. But yeah it should be 1.1 or 1.2 stars really. Windows were installed improperly, several didn't work and had to be replaced, they were really sloppy when sealing the windows, and they left one window completely unsealed. Do not use them! Period! That is unless you want to spend multiple hours with them sitting in your living room listening to them try to upsell etc. We had them come for a quote on our roof which we have received other quotes from $7,000 to $14,000. After TWO HOURS of hardcore sale tactics including the old "how much do you want to spend" and let me call my manager to see if I can get you a good deal" and at least 45 minutes of them trying to get us to immediately sign a contract, they left us a quote for $36,000. $36,000 for an average size roof! That price included new fascia, soffits and gutters ($13,000)-- something we do not need and we told the sale person we did not need. The disgusting part is we have very high-end aluminum (not vinyl) siding that is intricately wrapped around all our soffits and I believe our fascia. It's ridiculous they even quoted us on that. And our gutters work fine... good shape.. nothing wrong with them at all. TOTAL UPSELL! My husband dealt with them and they kept on insisting I join them. The entire experience sounded like a high pressured car sales pitch. This type of experience infuriates me. My husband tried to get rid of them politely and tried to tell them he simply wanted a simple quote. Period. All I can think about is was what happens when an elderly or more vulnerable member of our community is subjected to this high-pressure upselling sales pitch. BEWARE! read more

Let me start off by saying that the windows do seem to be a great quality but the service was my main issue. We decided to use coastal windows to replace 3 bedroom windows. In the past we had used home Depot and wanted to use a local company that would be more attentive than a larger national company. Needless to say from the beginning we weren't happy with the whole process. We first got a new sales person who promised things that wouldn't be able to be done. I had to continue call and request to talk to someone to figure out a solution. Finally the day on installation came and only 1 person showed up and the job took over 12 hours to do. Coastal windows was definitely more expensive than others and failed to deliver in what I thought a local company should provide. I'd get the same service from home Depot for less money. When I talked to coastal about my concerns they didn't seem to care and just wanted the rest of the money for the windows. I even gave them several weeks before writing this review to see if anyone would call me back. I expected more from a local company and I'm disappointed. Note: It is January 18, 2023, and we ordered our windows in the fall of 2021. . . and the order is still not correct and complete. A brief version of our experience: We should have stopped at the unnecessarily lengthy sales presentation. Pro tip for those in sales - do more listening than talking and get the client what they actually ask for without having them wait a year-and-a-half. During said presentation, we specifically talked about matching the other windows in our home (with the cross hatch type panes) to our new windows and having an obscure glass window for our bathroom. Fast forward to installation day. . . and imagine my surprise walking in to use our street-facing bathroom to find the clearest of clear crystal clear glass. . . HELLLOOOO neighbors! Literally who would want a clear bathroom window? None of the other windows we had installed have the cross hatch panes to match the rest of our house, and the window in our guest room was installed in such a way that it remained partially open all New England winter long. Why would we want just a few windows that didn't look like the rest of the house? The window in our guest room was installed in such a way that snow comes in, really ideal in New England. Today, January 18, 2023 we were told the correct window is ready, but when the technician arrived, it was once again incorrect, and it will be weeks (months? who knows with this crowd?). We're over two months into our 8 days of work, and our experience has been pretty frustrating. We went with them because the sales process went smoothly and they were attentive and answered all of our questions, I have nothing positive to say about the project once it began. Both the workmanship and customer service have been way off par. Throughout the project, there has been very little communication with Coastal, no show subcontractors, and shoddy workmanship. The only indication we've gotten that they consider things "done" is when they charge our account our authorization or telling us. During the initial siding removal and installation, the contractors were leaving cigarette butts and Monster energy drink can everywhere and letting scraps of foam and house wrap blow down the street and into neighbors yard. When they were done, cleanup was non existent, and I'm still pulling scraps of shingles out of my bushes and nails out off of my sidewalk and lawn. We asked the subcontractor about this when he came back, and he just shrugged and said he thought his guys took care of it. The installation itself is really questionable. They day after they were "done" siding was literally falling off the house. Falling. Off. House. The subcontractor blamed Coastal for ordering the wrong material or something, which isn't exactly what I want to hear on something I just paid $30k for. They "fixed" this by nailing directly through the front of the siding, which seems a little questionable. The aluminum fascia wrap was very wavy and misaligned in places, and they "fixed" this my nailing directly through it again, leaving it dented and worse than it was before. The trim work can just be generally described as sloppy and not something I would expect from a "professional" installer, or what was explained to us in the sales process. In one area, they wrapped in the wrong color aluminum, and instead of rewrapping they just painted it, which sort of defeats the purpose of this "no maintenance" project. Despite this being their mistake, they basically said we had to live with it. We did a walkthrough with the sales guy to point about issues, and were told someone would be out to fix them, and we would NOT be charged until the work was complete. Two days later, I log in to see that we've been charge $24k and no additional work had been completed. This is in clear violation of the contract . I don't think they did this maliciously per se. I really think it was just because they are incredibly disorganized and the people at the office have no idea what's going with their projects. It doesn't make this any less fraudulent, though. Trying to get a call back during all of this was like pulling teeth. The subcontractor just said he was done and blamed Coastal, and messages left of Coastal went unanswered. During all of this we still had a pile of materials and porta potty sitting in front of our house for two months. We finally got someone out this week to look at the remaining things we weren't happy about and had pointed out two months ago, and he said they would get it on the schedule to get fixed, but we haven't been given anything firm. Given then they've charged us for the work already (again, without our signoff), I'm really skeptical that they're going to move on this and make it right without further action. I'll be sure to update this when the do, though. My first advice is to stay away from Coastal, but if you do go with them, avoid financing so that you're in control of when you hand over that check. It would have saved us a lot of grief. read more

I replaced 15 windows and three years out the news is not good. The caulking used is so pitiful that it leaks, when I spray water from the outside, it comes inside. It also is so sticky that everything sticks to it, pollution, pollen, both inside and outside! Terrible! Looks awful and is hard to clean. The sales people are aggressive and misleading (the actual window surface was significantly smaller than original windows) but when the product arrives, it is low quality. Beware read more

The sales staff was very helpful with the selection and style of our needs. We reached out to four top siding and roofing companies and had 4 separate estimates done. Coastal stood out from the rest. We purchased our house last year newly renovated. Unfortunately, they did not upgrade the door. We had probably the worst, builder grade door you can imagine. You could see the light coming in around the frame, the door would be hot or cold to the touch and it did not shut properly. To top it off, it had no dead bolt! My husband and I were very impressed with the entire process of Coastal Windows & Exteriors. We met at our home with Donna, who helped us choose the right door for our space. Once the door was installed it looked exactly as described, if not better. The installer, Mike, did a fantastic job. You can definitely tell that this door was not purchased at Home Depot or Lowes, and was installed by a professional. The door shuts tightly, has an amazing color and comes with a lifetime guarantee.
