Thank you, Meadows Construction, for our beautiful new front stairs and deck. Mike, the manager, patiently worked with us designing what we wanted, and it looks great. The workers were talented, focused, and polite. They expedited the project in half the time. Many compliments on the new addition. We had used Meadows in the past to add vinyl siding to our house and garage. Again, another perfect job. Mike listens, offers suggestions, and makes sure the work is done properly and timely. Disappointed - we had a neighbor and tradesman recommend this company based on his working relationship with them. They were reqponsive to our requests for a quote with a person coming out within a week to analyze the job. The quote was received with photos and a plan of action. As part of a condo we had to get several folks in agreement, so when we circled back 8 weeks later they were unresponsive. I attempted to communicate with the rep who had been to my home for several weeks and finally cc'd who I assume is an owner that works in the front office who I'd worked with to schedule. She said they'd discuss and get back to me. Crickets. I emailed again two weeks after that - nothing and again 3 weeks later explaining we'd delayed getting other quotes as we assumed that based on our estimate and my reaching out to try and schedule the job we were working with them - finally today I get a message saying they aren't interested. This is 6 months after they gave us the quote. If they weren't interested they should have just said so from the jump instead of giving us a quote and then stringing us along for 6 months. Now we've missed the opportunity to get on another roofter's list for the summer and will likely have to wait until next year - starting the process over again. Would not recommend. read more

I live in Newbury and needed a contractor to do an entire house re-siding job with (trim). I reached out to Meadows and I received a response within 24 hours and in 2 days a project manager came to my home for a walk around and eventually a quote. The quote was laid out perfectly with a visual drawing of all the work that needed to be done along with cost breakouts. The project manager answered all my questions, concerns and eventually we setttled on using James Hardie cement board.The Meadows team was VERY professional from start to finish. It was orchestrated perfectly. The team showed up everyday ontime for two weeks. A week after the job was complete two issues needed to be fixed and left me questioning the quality. A month goes by and I notice the siding was rattling in high wind. After further investigation many many of the Hardie planks were loose. Not a little loose but shockingly loose. I called Meadows back to look the work over. They agreed it needs to be fixed and this is where things went sideways and contractors get a bad reputation. After many attempts I could not get them to commit to a date to fix the work. It got very uncomfortable having to chase them down and when they told me they would get back to me "soon" or within the week I received no response unless I continued to text them. Unfortunately, after many attempts to pin them down on a date to fix the poor quality siding work I decided to do the work myself which took me weeks to fix including renting a boom to fix our thrid story dormer clapboard. I really hoped my 5 star review would stick and I had found a company who would stand up to work and come back to fix quality issues without me having to chase them down. My feedback to the Meadows team. Have the onsite manager watch the quality of the work very closely. Rushing the job and not paying attention to the details will come back time and time again. On my project the Hardie Plank butt joints did not end on a studs which is best pratcice and the planks were not nailed into studs which is best practice. If these two things were done I believe the quality would have been excellent. read more

Jared from MC worked with me from start to finish on the whole project. He listened to what I was looking for, understood my budget, made great suggestions and I went with them over 4 other companies for all of those reasons. When it came to the actual work, I was home during all of it (thanks to knee surgery) and his whole team were there on time, worked cheerfully (which is always a plus) and efficiently to get it all done in great time. In fact, I had another neighbor ask me to have them quote a smaller project for them while there, which Jared did right away. After several requests and calls to Meadows Construction since January 2020, we finally agreed that the roof they put on my home in 2005 finally had failed and they were willing to replace the section of roof that had been poorly nailed. The crew that came were quick and efficient. They cleaned up very well since part of the work was in a shared driveway and no one wants a nail in their tire. It took an extra day for people to come and remove the porta-toilet and extra materials but it was not a problem for me. Consider using Meadow's Construction for your home project. read more

Although the outside appearance of my house is much nicer than it was before this siding job, I don't feel the quality of work Meadows Construction performed was worth the cost or headaches. I cannot recommend this company for siding projects. Work Issues: * The crew left debris consisting of nails, screws, sharp pieces of metal, small siding pieces and food waste which I cleaned up. * A cover plate they installed around my irrigation plumbing was cracked with large openings around pipes. I asked several times for that to be repaired and since it wasn't I caulked it over myself. * There were multiple large gaps in seams and trim that I glued down. In several cases seams and trim were not properly placed, or overlapping in the wrong direction. One trim piece over my back deck had virtually no overlap and dropped down a week after the job ended. * Paint was damaged on my front door and kitchen window trim. * The wood between the left and right kitchen windows was wrapped in aluminum which blocked them from opening. I had to remove the aluminum and caulk the openings. * The crew dented my garage door and initially denied responsibility. The panel replacement cost was later covered by them. * A shut-off valve in my basement got damaged and started leaking when they hit the water spigot on the front of my house. They also covered the cost on this. * Overall I made several complaints about sloppy work or short cuts taken, which resulted in work that needed to be redone correctly. Cost Issues: The final cost increased by $2,400 from the original quote. Some increases were justified since they charged extra for replacement wood. Part of that cost went towards $1,550 for new gutters since I was told my existing ones weren't reusable. I was also charged a lot for extra PVC installed around sliding doors which I was told was absolutely necessary. This was somehow missed in the original quote. The original quote also included two replacement gable vents and 3/8" installation on the entire house. Neither of these was installed, yet I only received $600 credit which was probably 50% of what I was owed. Note: Without consent, I deducted $200 from the final bill based on trash removal and caulking work I performed. read more

Do NOT use this company for any interior work - the lack of care and consideration they showed for our home was astounding. We hired them for a major renovation - kitchen, bathroom, dining room, bedroom - and it was a disaster. Kitchen cabinets were put in upside down and backwards, they spray painted wood trim for the cabinets on the rocks in my garden and then spray painted the cabinets themselves. They put the kitchen faucet in backwards, the bath tub sliding glass door was put on with the opening on the opposite side where the faucet is so you had to get in the tub to turn on the shower, they installed beautiful white oak flooring then didn't cover it and the plasterers made a huge mess requiring the floor to be re-sanded and re-polyurethaned. A month after the work was complete we still hadn't had a final building inspection so I called the GC to see when that was happening; he scheduled it then had to contact me to say he hadn't realized we need to have the fire inspection done before the building inspector would come. We failed the fire inspection because none of the smoke/CO2 detectors were hooked up - we've been living in a house we thought had detectors for over a month! Then the GC told us it would be another day or two before the electricians could come out to hook them up! And this is just a sampling of all that went wrong - they are totally incompetent and now I believe potentially dangerous. read more
