A few weeks ago, I unexpectedly ran into Ms.Roya at the hospital where I currently work. She was…read morestill there, guiding and teaching her students just as she had done when I was in nursing school. Seeing her brought back memories of myself as a nursing student several years ago. I graduated from Concord 9'2022 and Mr.Roya was my clinical instructor. During our clinical rotations, Ms.Roya went above and beyond to make sure we had opportunities to learn and gain hands on experience in different clinical settings. She was always proactive in communicating with staff and facility personnel and worked hard to create learning opportunities for her students. When we were at a clinical site, she paid close attention to every detail and constantly made sure that we were following proper procudures and staying safe. It made me realize how much of an impact she had on my education and how much i still appreciate everything she taught us. Looking back, I was thinking that she was little too strict with us. But now that I have graduated and have been working in a hospital for the past 3 years, I understand why she was that way. Her attention to detail, high standards, and emphasis on safety helped prepare me for the reality of working as a nurse. I sincerely recommend Concord to anyone who is serious about becoming an LVN. And if Ms.Roya is still a clinical instructor here, you can expect to receive real hands on experience and an instructor who will genuinely go the extra mile to make sure you learn as much as possible. That unexpected encounter after all these years is actually what inspired me to finally write this review.

Public safety is also really wonderful with you and they're really caring. One of the Public Safety officers was comforting me when I was taken to the hospital on a suicide attempt at 18. This place also has an annual event called Take Back the Night where survivors of sexual assault speak out at the Fish Interfaith Center. Speaking of the Fish Interfaith Center, this place is also incredibly inclusive to people from different religious backgrounds. This place celebrates religious holidays for students from different religions. I find that really nice. I also love how this place allows people, who aren't Chapman students or staff, to come to this place. I met an older man who wanted to know how to find this place for an Iftar dinner. I showed him where it was and he went in here, and he got the food. This place has also been really wonderful to me when I was a victim of financial sextortion at 18. I met a lot of people who were amazing and kind to me after I shared with them about my experience. I had a case manager who comforted me when I was going through the trauma of this. I also had a professor who comforted me and told me that financial sextortion wasn't my fault at all. The 4th floor on the Argyos Forum is a great place for career fairs, and a great place to meet with potential employers. I got a chance to meet with a Secret Service employer who was such a wonderful man. This place also has wonderful areas to take your graduation photos from. In fact, if you come here during the months of April to mid-May, you'll find lots of graduating students posing for photographers.

They had different check-in tables for EOP students, high school students, and students receiving certificates and associate degrees, which made the process smooth and easy to follow. The main reason I went was to pick up my cap and gown bundle through the bookstore, and even though the line was long, it moved pretty fast because there were several staff members helping distribute packages and answer questions. I got the bundle with the cap, gown, tassel, rope, and frame, so I was happy to get everything taken care of in one place. They also had food from Taqueria De Anda, which was a nice surprise! You could choose between three street tacos or a burrito, and the taco plates came with rice and beans. There were different meat options like carne asada, chicken, al pastor, and carnitas. One of the coolest parts was the photographers doing 360 videos for students. They also had teachers celebrating us with confetti and a live band performing, which made it feel festive and special. I did arrive around 11:40 and unfortunately the swag bags were already gone, which was a little disappointing, but overall the experience was still worth it. It was such a fun way to celebrate our accomplishments and get everyone excited for commencement!

When it comes to communication between teachers and students, it hasn't been very consistent. One instructor will say one thing, while another says something different, which makes it confusing. The grading is also inconsistent, as each instructor seems to grade differently. At the beginning of the semester, we weren't given a clear rubric for how we would be graded. Now that we are close to graduating, points are being taken off for very small details that were never emphasized before. For example, labeling the cups for the products we use--this is now required in abbreviation form, but we were never taught how to do that earlier in the program. Usually, the dispensary person would take care of that. I hope the program can become more organized, with clear expectations for both day and night classes. Right now, it feels like the night class does not receive as much attention or support. Overall, I hope things improve. However, if I had the chance to choose again, I would consider a different school because I don't feel like I learned everything I needed to know.

I had to call just to get my own student id because they were gonna forget it otherwise. They are so rude over the phone. The first guy blamed me for calling too early to speak to a general counselor, then when I told him that it said the time and I was there five minutes after, he said she was late. I told him I needed to speak to someone about enrolling, he told me that I have to speak to a generals counselor before I can even speak to a majors counselor. So, I went back to their little only chat and waited again. I spoke to her, told her I was doing a career change because I already have multiple degrees. I just wanted to do court reporting. She told me that going to private schools would be an issue because it's different. Okay... then she told me to speak to a major's counselor and to call back the other number because I needed more information. I called back, someone else answered and told me the majors counselor for court reporting wasn't in until the 17th. I said okay and I waited. Called in multiple times today, nobody answered. I go to their online chat, it took forever to speak to someone. They said I need to speak to a majors counselor, give me the link, and I wait more and NOBODY ANSWERS. I hate it here. I started calling and trying to reach someone around 10AM, it's not 11:45 and I still can't reach someone to help me. I have CalVet, which means I can go tuition free. I have my student ID. They keep telling me to just register, but I have no idea which classes to register into. I do not know if I need to transfer GE credits. I do not know how to connect my CalVet benefits to their school. I do not know anything about their process, other than they CLEARLY DO NOT WANT TO HELP ME ENROLL FULLY. It is the most frustrating experience knowing that I could start classes but I can't because nobody there can answer questions. I'm actually over it. If it's this challenging to start school, then my assumption is that they won't be much help when I'm actually fully enrolled and registered. I guess this is part of the reason why there's a shortage of court reporters in California -- because schools like this don't gaf about who wants in. Do not go here if you are a Veteran, spouse of a Veteran, or dependent of a Veteran.
