Flying in and out of Central Wisconsin Airport, I got the bright idea to stay at this hotel on the…read morenight before our flight and the night of our return flight. Fortunately, my wife hasn't said anything about a divorce following our stay. While convenient to the airport, I'd strongly suggest driving further and paying more to avoid this place. While an acceptable place for a bunch of guys to stay on the way to a weekend fishing trip, I wouldn't take the wife and kids there. The place is old and it shows. It also smells; not in a nice caramel corn way. Our first room was smelly but somewhat clean. Our second room wasn't as smelly but had a tub that wouldn't drain and a ceiling vent black with dust and grime. The water in the sink barely flowed from the faucet. In addition, the bedsheet was stained, as was the bedspread. You really didn't feel comfortable walking in the room without shoes or something covering your feet. In both rooms, there were multiple shades of paint. Despite attempting to cover the water damage to the ceiling (first floor rooms), the painter was unsuccessful. Family stayed in another room and found it devoid of toilet paper. They also had a tv remote with dead batteries. The exterior is also in need of TLC. The parking lot hasn't seen any care for quite awhile. From a security standpoint, the entrance on the east side of the building didn't appear to lock. The clerk at the front desk was nice enough but did not provide any paperwork for either of our stays. My significant other bravely went to the lobby to check out the continental breakfast. She brought back a coffee. It wasn't the worst but one drink was enough. She reported the breakfast area was poorly stocked with anything someone may expect on a continental breakfast. Do yourself a favor, drive further and pay more. You'll be more comfortable in the long run.

It is more like coming to a second home than a hotel. The rooms are clean, spacious, and comfy. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. We are a very large group. Some of us have disabilities that require special assistance, adaptive rooms, service animals, and caretakers. Some of us travel with aides or professional assistants/managers. This hotel handles it all with professionalism and calm. We use banquet spaces, meeting rooms, suites, hospitality spaces, and the restaurant. We take up most of the parking and if the pool or sauna are available, we are in my heaven! A few of us even use the workout room or hang out at the bar! This hotel keeps us coming back because they treat us well; they feed us well; they serve us amazing hospitality; and the fees are a great value! If you're in Marshfield, don't overlook this inconspicuous gem of a hotel! It's a part of the Best Western Group. These people put the "best" in hotel service industry! I stay here occasionally and I have seen this place go from outdated and drab to a complete reification. Sure, it's still not a 5 star luxury hotel, but I give them great credit for making such a big (needed) change. Rooms are now fresh, comfortable and clean. New amenities throughout the room and the bathroom (which is all new). Lobby is more open and inviting and they have now opened a new adjoining restaurant (which I haven't tried yet). Unfortunately the free continental breakfast is gone, but that wasn't a big draw anyway. Nice to see the effort... should pay off!

This was by far the most amazing experience and look forward to returning. Check in: Was an absolute breeze. Our flight was delayed and were able to easily access the location through self check in. Room: The room was immaculate. Spacious, clean and comfortable. Had all the necessary amenities. The bed and pillows were incredibly comfortable. Owner: Was attentive and readily available to answers questions and fulfill all accommodations. Area: Perfect location that is close to the town and convenient stores. I stayed in most of the rooms during my time there and all the beds are comfortable. There are iPhone chargers in all the rooms, and there was complimentary WiFi, which allowed for both the ability to work after hours and to surf the Internet when relaxing. There was also plenty of privacy, but at the same time Kerri and Mike, the innkeepers, made me feel at home. Early each morning there was coffee and Kerri always made sure I had a travel mug to take into work. Additionally, Kerri was nice enough to offer me dinner several times during the long bleak winter. I stayed at one of the newer hotels in Waupaca during my first trip, and while I had no big complaints, it was just average across the board, while the Apple Tree Bed & Breakfast had those extra touches of home all in a ultra comfortable peaceful and private space. Thanks Kerri and Mike for making the winter bearable!
