This hotel is a hidden gem. Literally. The hotel sits…read morebehind a small casino. When you drive up at first all you see is the casino and a small strip mall with some eateries. You have to drive between these two to find the hotel. The hotel is very clean, fenced around, beautifully landscaped, and well maintained. The staff are great. The hallways have a wild casino themed carpet and there is the casino a few feet away from the lobby through a breezeway, but you don't have to go there if you don't want to. My room smelled a bit strong of "air freshener" when I arrived, but other than that was spotless, very comfortable, and pleasantly decorated. It was equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, big screen TV, a very comfortable bed, big bathroom with rain shower, nice towels. There was a pool that looked nice. Ice machine was at the end of the second floor, and there was a washing machine and dryer available. Like I said, there are various eateries right outside with a variety of food: Subway, Hunt Brothers Pizza, fried chicken, and more, a sports bar, and the casino. The hotel lobby is nice and the morning personnel are friendly. The check in clerk was more businesslike, but he was efficient. They require a refundable deposit for any damages. No smoking. I did not eat breakfast there but it looked very good, more than the usual. They had a hot breakfast with eggs, sausage, and a lot more. I'd definitely stay there again, and would be comfortable taking my family.

The room and lobby was clean. No issues with cleanliness at all. We encountered a few staff members and every one of them were very nice and as helpful as you'd want. Breakfast was waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, potatoes with bell peppers and onions on the side, biscuits and gravy. They yogurt was in a machine which was weird. Cereals weren't really kid friendly. There were a few pieces of fruit and a small assortment of breads/pastries. Overall not bad. The pool area didn't look very appealing, I could see what looked like leaves in the bottom. But we didn't get in it since we were just passing through. The theme is casino which was different and cute. Had good parking and easy access to rooms.

This was our first time coming here and wish this was my home casino for Boyd as Sam's town the…read morecasino is twice as smaller. But I do like the rooms at Sam's town better though. I definitely love this casino and better than Sam's Town as they have much more machines there and layout is much better. They do not have any card games however unless I missed it. They do have a racetrack and you can go outside and see it. Rooms overall were nice, but the walls were paper thin. The issue was that we were next to people that had a lot of noise on the first night and were totally drunk and security had to come up and settle things down. Service was really friendly as they let us do late checkout. I hope next time we get to stay in a suite as in Sam's Town we get to stay in the suite. I probably had the most fun at this casino as they had a range of good games and I had some good wins and I probably came out a winner here. However, I wish I came out a winner throughout the trip. The only issue I have is the lack of machines to cash out the machines as during a busy night the line can get really long as I usually like to cash out the ticket. I did see a lot of people get jackpots, but I was not one of them, but I can see potential. They only had the 5 line version of the Ainsworth games, but I learned to play with the 5 lines and was not too bad. I did well on both the high and low volatile games and lasted quite a long time there. Unfortunately, I gave back most of my money as I was chasing the $10 dollar pinball as I really wanted to try for a jackpot. But I had fun though. It does get smokey and very crowded here. the slot machines are very close together and you can bump into people easy. The soda machines there are only 2 locations I know of. I definitely would come back here again.

If only the ponies were running during my Friday afternoon visit…read more.. I brought my elderly father here on a Friday afternoon so that he could play slots. I play craps, and this place doesn't have table games, so I spent my time at the bar playing card games on my phone. This place seems to have plenty of slot machines. It didn't take Dad long to drop his $200, but such is gambling. The other geriatric patients that I overheard in the restaurant seemed to have the same experience. Though this joint is clean, it smells like an ashtray. I wish that casinos would consider that most people don't smoke these days. But, apparently the people who suck down heaters still drop money in their machines. Oh well. Parking here is free. The place is easy to navigate. If not for my dad, however, I wouldn't come here. And I definitely wouldn't stay in their hotel. If they added some table games and sent the smoking clientele to the back 40, my opinion might change.

I stayed at Horseshoe Lake Charles from March 22-26 and had a very concerning experience…read more The room had multiple issues, including a missing door security latch and a bathroom that appeared poorly maintained, with possible mold and visible buildup. There was also a persistent sewage-like odor during my stay. I reached out to the hotel directly with documentation (photos/video) but did not receive a response, which is even more disappointing than the issues themselves. I would appreciate someone from management or corporate reaching out to address this.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Horseshoe. It was certainly much quieter than nearby casinos…read morebut I was also there on a Monday evening/Tuesday morning so that may have made a difference. The room: check in was incredibly easy and they have a kiosk for self-service. The room itself was clean, spacious, and had all the typical ammenties one would look for. I assume most people who stay at casino hotels don't aoend too much time in the room, but if one did want to do that then this is a great choice. The bed was nice and soft, pillows fluffy, and the bathroom was spacious. The gym was a typical hotel gym. There was an elliptical, bike, treadmill, and a bench with weights. I only used the treadmill, which seemed a bit old but did its job just fine. Downstairs you will find a Dunkin and pizza place. The Dunkin was perfect for a quick breakfast. The egg bites came out piping hot and were delicious. The latte was standard. The customer service was great. The pizza place is meh. Thick crust, thick layer if cheese, not many toppings. I would skip this next time. The casino itself was quiet but it was a lot of fun. I found a blackjack table and the dealer was super nice and taught me the rules. I had a great time.
