The owner of this store was SO rude. We didn't realize the store was closed because her gate was open. When before it was locked completely. We simply opened the door and asked "Hi, i'm sorry. Are you open?" Which she just stood there and gave us a nasty look and continued to say how "perplexed" she was. Then told us to come in and STILL continued to be extremely aggressive and accused us of thinking she's crazy and that we would report her. she then did the EXACT same thing to another girl who tried to enter. I'm sorry we didn't see you were closed you could've just said you were closed instead of being unprofessional and rude. read more

This is such a special store, tiny but carefully curated with truly unique vintage pieces. The owner's incredible taste is evident from the selection. After combing through so many thrift stores that call themselves "vintage shops" chock full of ugly 1980's dresses, this is by far my favorite TRUE vintage clothing store in NYC. Lots of beautiful pieces from the 1930's-1960's. I was especially impressed with the hats!! The prices are reasonable for how unique the pieces are, so don't expect to pay Goodwill prices. This place is the ultimate. I mean, the mecca, of vintage. Most people walk in, get intimidated by the amount of stuff in a small space and walk out. Huge mistake. If you can overcome the clutter, then you will truly be able to appreciate the glory of Cobblestones. This store is like walking into your grandmother's closet. Your grandmother who never threw anything away. Ever. It's so much fun to dig through the racks and find the most amazing treasures. You definitely need a good eye, a little bit of patience and some time on your hands, but it is so worth it. I've bought shoes here, I've bought dresses, I've bought jewelry and accessories. I almost bought a tiara, and actually, I am probably going back for that one. I would have bought a jumpsuit from the 80's with sparkles on the shoulders, except my long torso just doesn't seem to work with jumpsuits. Tragic, I know. In addition to the amazing array of pieces, the owner is awesome. She always plays music from back in the day, and sings along loudly. She is so friendly and is always reasonable about knocking a little off the price if something is stained or slightly damaged. And the prices overall are better than most vintage stores I've come across in the village. If you do go, go alone so you can better focus your search and not be distracted by impatient friends. Also, the store's not that big and it's better when you have more room to yourself. Once you get in that vintage zone, don't be surprised if the whole day goes by and you still haven't left the store. Every time I try to leave, I find something else I've got to have. This time it was metallic, rainbow strappy sandals from the 70's. So choice. read more

This vintage store is great mainly for accessories--I'm talking shoes (lots, in particular boots), bags, wallets, belts, jewerly, hats, scarves, etc etc. There are clothes, yes, but nothing outstanding in terms of appearance. There is a TON in this store, and I tried as hard as I could to look in every nook and cranny. The owner (i think) was really nice and engaged you without being overbearing or watching your every move. The prices are decent too, considering what vintage goes for in the cities these days. I didn't see anything in the hundreds unless I missed it. Even a nice, heavy wool coat was only $60. It's one of those stores where you're going to want to cover everything but still might end up missing something. P.S. I almost fell coming out of the store because I didn't see that the step dropped down! read more

I want EVERYTHING in this store. I bought a purse that was exactly what I was looking for, like it had been waiting for me all along. I would've bought about 3 other things, too, if I just had more money with me! Not so sure about clothes, as the fitting room is so very tiny, but definitely a godsend for accessories! The owner was great. She'd see me looking at something and point me to other items I would like that I had just walked past. And I did like them! There are hats and belts and purses and sweaters everywhere just stacked on top of each other; it's easy to miss something wonderful, so leave no stone unturned! It seems like everything was handpicked for the store and is just lovely. I wouldn't classify anything in this store as a "rag" or as "junk" like in many poorer-quality stores. I will definitely be back soon, though I might have to procure more closet space! read more

I've been living in this neighborhood for close to 30 years, and I've known Delani, the proprietor of this store, for at least that long. I used to work for a jeweler on 2nd avenue, and he remarked what a great retailer she is. And she is: several years ago I walked in, asked if she had a tin lunchbox, and the following day she presented me with a Battlestar Galactica one from the 70s. (Don't be fooled by the clutter!) Delani is all about the neighborhood: knows me, knows my dog, and always stops to chat on the street. She's a great retailer and a great friend. read more

This is where you go when you have to get someone a purse! Awesome deals on handbags and accessories. This place is crammed with stuff, so you have to prepare yourself to dig. Not quite the place to go for clothing. Not many shoes for the size 8 and up, but adorable shoes to look at. There are also cute knick-knacks to decorate your windowsills with. I bought the most gorgeous little vintage swimsuit here yesterday and it was the nicest surprise. I didn't originally see this place on Yelp so I don't know how popular it is, but I would recommend it. The stuff they have is sort of pricey but I would say worth it. You'll never really know what you'll find either because the shop itself is almost too small to hold everything in it. It's a bit disorganized and the dressing room is smaller than you could imagine but it's a great place for vintage finds. read more

A great place to go vintage shopping. It's not extremely pricey like many other vintage stores, and it has a large selection of items in a little store. The lady was also very nice, idk her name. but she occasionally would burst out in song to the radio. At first it was a little weird but you get used to it after awhile. A long standing east village vintage store with some great vintage clothes. As with any vintage store, it's hit or miss, and pretty disorganized, but the owner seemed to know where things were. I've been to many vintage shops in NYC and only a few of them are actually worth visiting. Some smell really funky, some are just dusty, and many others offer very tacky items. Cobblestones is a welcome sight in terms of vintage shops. The smell and dust factor is low (virtually nonexistent), and the selection is really very diverse. There are great finds here. If you like granny-chic vintage, this is totally for you! Stopped by here in hopes of searching for that cross-shoulder purse for nights. I was mostly focused on accessories so only took a cursory glance over the clothing and shoe selections-- can't tell you much. The purses/handbags are what struck me the most: shelves and shelves of awesome and unique vintage pieces. My only dismay was being so vertically challenged that I could not possibly reach the upper shelves without an extra hand and a step-ladder, let alone crane my neck that far up and back to even eye the pieces! T.T Fortunately, the nice lady that owns the shop is very sweet and ready to assist. A lot of the purses are very classy and simple with the occasional beaded, chain-mailed, or sequin-bedazzled glory. Some shoppers might be daunted by the clutter or unimpressed, but take a second look. It's all deliberately placed clutter, in an artsy way. You really have to be ready to crouch down into those spaces and sort through the stacks or take down those pieces and have it in your hand to give a good look-over. read more

I love this store. This place is a hidden gem in East Village where vintage lovers must stop by. After some major digging, I found this gorgeous, gold mesh vintage Whiting and Davis clutch.
