From top clockwise: berries and white chocolate, apple pie, blueberry and lemon, eggnog, gingerbread, blueberry and lemon (again).

I have been wanting to come to this place for a while now and I finally got around to it. We stopped in and couldn't believe the selection of goodies they had! I don't quite know what I expected but this far exceeded it. My purpose for going was to pick up some scones given that I had clotted cream at home that needed finishing up. I had planned on just getting plain scones but was overwhelmed by the selection of flavours! Not a plain one in sight. I opted for the lemon blueberry (which I figured would pair nicely with the clotted cream... and it did!), eggnog, apple pie, berries and white chocolate and gingerbread. To be honest, the lemon blueberry was my favourite but I suspect it's because of the clotted cream I slathered on it. I didn't find the rest of them all that flavourful. Would I rush back to repurchase any of the flavours I had selected? Likely not. Well, actually, no... but I will definitely come back to try other items on offer.

Huge selection! They have a huge selection, with many items coming in more than one flavour. Our favourites are the ham and cheese croissant and blueberry custard danish, though I wish they had more filling. The spinach and mushroom pizza was a loaded flatbread, but flavour was seriously lacking, which appears to be a common complaint that many items could use a bit more salt or something to give it more oomph.

When I heard COBS Bread was coming to Pickering, I instantly got so excited! but when I got there and saw the selection, I was a bit disappointed. Now let me preface this by saying I'm used to going to a no frills type bakery, meaning, one where customers are allowed to walk through racks of baked goods and pickup what they please. COBS Bread has a different set up then I'm used to, it's more of a upscale bougie bakery feel and price. We came around 3pm on a weekday and they were sold out of Sourdough bread. They staff told us Sourdough is one of their most popular ones and usually gets sold out in the mornings. Nonetheless, I still really wanted to see what they had. We ended up getting: 2 Spinach Feta Croissants 1 Plain Croissant 1 Spinach Mushroom Mini Pizza 1 Apricot Delight Log Our total bill came out to $23 The baked goods were pretty good but not outstanding. I did really like the unique logs of bread they offered like the Apricot Delight and Olive Breads. The staff were so kind, friendly and patient with the customers, and I really loved that almost all the employees were female! #womensupportingwomen I'm a bit on the fence about whether I will come back here.

    Miss Lady ..

Lots of fresh baked goods. Some of which could be made at home like the pizza Came here for some scones. The price is okay if you want one but if you're buying multiple, the price becomes a little overpriced. $2.35 each The quality of scones were good. A lil small for the price, but flavorful. They had a number of interesting flavours such as double chocolate, lemon blueberry, strawberry passionfruit, apple pie and cinnamon. They also sell danishes, croissants etc. This location is just a walk-in type set up.

Just went to check out the recently opened Cobs Bread in Pickering...located just north of Royal Bank on Kingston Rd (west of Whites). It is small inside but if you know what you want in advance, you can be in and out within a few minutes. Picked up a few things to try out including chocolate croissants, jalapeño twist, sourdough buns and something called "bap" (was told, a roll with flour on top). Specials they offer are no tax if you buy 6 or more scones and they offer "bread card", where you get a free loaf of bread after 15 loaves. Just devoured one of the chocolate croissants, so far so good!

A beautiful cake, artistically decorated without being garish? Look no further than Pesteh bakery. It took some research on my part to find a family-run bakery in Durham region. After a few very difficult years, many local businesses are trying to regain their footing, if indeed they were able to weather the storm. Pesteh fit my bill for a family-run, small business that makes unique, cheffy and artistic cake creations. The two cakes I ordered, Chocolate and the signature Pistachio, looked and tasted like nothing I could ever make. I am no dessert chef. My guests didn't even ask if I'd made the two cakes, but rather, where did I order them from? Pesteh's cakes taste every bit as remarkable as the look of their decorations. The chocolate cake had a pronounced chocolate, rather than merely sugary, taste. The pistachio cake sang with bright color and pistachio flavour. Wow. Just, wow. Not only did Pesteh provide us with cakes to show with pride, but also, the thoughtful owners gave us instructions on how to carefully store leftovers. Not that there were any leftovers. Guests were asking for seconds! Are you looking for an epic cake for that special birthday, anniversary, or holiday feast? Pesteh is conveniently located in Ajax, and I am sure that you will not be disappointed. In fact, quite the reverse! Now I know where I will get my dessert for the next special-occasion event!

I had seen on instagram a few friends that had gone to Cocoa Berry and decided to check it out, as it's actually pretty close to me. I called the owner Channel during the week to pick up cupcakes for Saturday of the same week. She answered right away and was ready to take my order. She offered me alternatives to work with our budget, and even went out to the stag shop to really make them bachelorette worthy. They were ready and boxed for me on Saturday afternoon to pick up, even though I was running late. There is ample amount of underground parking available. They also have other items that you can get like jerk chicken! I am going to have to come back for that. The cupcakes were jumbo and frosted with goodness. It was moist and not overly sweet. My girlfriend loves vanilla cupcakes, and as do I, and it was made to perfection. The toppers were a great touch as she printed out bachelorette themed prints, as well as the bride to be's event logo, which she loved. Very reasonably priced and great response time. Will be coming back!

Nutella croissant, pistachio cream filled. Staff super friendly took my order gave recommendations. Croissant was crispy versus buttery had a decent amount of Nutella in there. Not sure if it's more crispy vs buttery or just end of day. The pistachio filled donut was heavy filled with whip cream delicious and not lactose friendly. Tiramisu good on the sweeter side not too heavy on coffee flavor whip cream and cake bottom. Not super traditional but it's okay. 3 separate counters to order different food items this place can get quite full. Little bit hard to find the price on the items it's not listed with the food itself. In the middle of the place there are tables and chairs to sit and eat at which is nice. Not just a take out spot. We got there a little after 11 and already the place was jamming. All we wanted were a couple of cannolis and sfogliatellas. When we got them home, the product did not disappoint. You need to be sure to show up as early as possible, or they run out. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Aside from the hustle and bustle, it has a great atmosphere, but I would not recommend eating there unless you feel comfortable with a mass of people all around you.
