This place is absolutely insane. I mean this in a great way! It does not open until 11 o'clock, and has limited hours, but the minute it opens insanity occurs. We got there a little after 11 and already the place was jamming. All we wanted were a couple of cannolis and sfogliatellas. When we got them home, the product did not disappoint. We felt like we had been immediately transported back to Napoli where we enjoyed these delicacies fresh out of the bakery. Their pizza line is also crazy. You need to be sure to show up as early as possible, or they run out. The staff is friendly and very helpful. Nutella croissant, pistachio cream filled. Staff super friendly took my order gave recommendations. Croissant was crispy versus buttery had a decent amount of Nutella in there. Not sure if it's more crispy vs buttery or just end of day. The pistachio filled donut was heavy filled with whip cream delicious and not lactose friendly. Tiramisu good on the sweeter side not too heavy on coffee flavor whip cream and cake bottom. Not super traditional but it's okay. 3 separate counters to order different food items this place can get quite full. Little bit hard to find the price on the items it's not listed with the food itself. In the middle of the place there are tables and chairs to sit and eat at which is nice. Not just a take out spot. Too bad this place wasn't closer to home! Or wait, it might be dangerous as I feel that I would come here everyday. Everything here is delicious and you can't go wrong with anything. On Saturday afternoon before closing, it was still packed! Staff are extremely friendly and efficient. There are some tables so my family and I got some gelato and ate it there before our long car ride back to the west of Toronto. A special shout-out to their lasagna! Lamanna's has undergone serious expansion since my last review and I thought an update was in order. They're currently working on another expansion into the next unit, which I hope will help with the congestion during lunch hours. I hate coming in here anywhere around meal time or the weekends as the crowds are absolutely maddening. They have limited seating that always seems occupied by large families that are either saving seats for their party that has yet to arrive or by groups that are just hanging around long after they've finished their food even when there is a lineup out the door. I understand that this is a bakery, not a sit down restaurant, so they do not police this. They have also changed up their hot food counter offerings to include more varieties of pasta (with veg penne still being our fav) and the arancini balls. Their breaded veal or chicken sandwiches still leave a lot to be desired as the cutlets are pounded super thin which tend to dry out the meat and results in subpar sandwiches. Their sliced pizza offerings are solid options as sizable slices are good for sharing. Their dessert/cake/gelato counter is extensive and there is always something that will catch your eye. I am excited to see how their expansion into the next space will change the vibe, as quieter dining space would be very much appreciated. read more

This was my first visit to Lamanna's Bakery thanks to a friend's recommendation that we meet there and I loved it! I immediately loved the atmosphere walking in and seeing the different stations for pizza, hot table, baked goods and gelato. I was in Italian heaven! To start I just had a mint tea with a Portuguese custard tart which was fresh and delicious. We sat at the front window area and there was a constant line up for ordering. The staff was all nice who I chatted with. Big thanks to Ashley for happily answering lots of questions I had about the gorgeous looking pizzas! I also loved the beautiful graphic design of their boxes I saw people carrying out. Some were huge and must have had cakes in them! I got a pepperoni slice to go and it was fantastic! Had a deluxe slice for $5.25 & cheese tortellini in rosé sauce for $9.99. The pizza had a pretty good crust - light & crisp - but the sauce, cheese & toppings were lacklustre. Lamanna's, located on the Scarborough side of the border with Pickering, has been around for many years, serving up some good Italian food, unique pizzas, and some decadent pastries. I dropped in for lunch recently and had their Meat Lasagna. It was a very generous serving and a pretty good value at only $10.99, with bread. To start off if I'm only counting the food quality it would be 5 stars. Want to make sure readers understand I'm giving them only 3 because of the very limited seating and also the wait. The washrooms were clean and staff was great. They also offer pizza by the slice which was tasty and enough variety. We also had the arancini, lasagna and some pastries. The problem is they implemented a horrible ordering system on the right side for baked goods. It takes way too long for ordering, packing and payment. WOW! This spot has been on our bucket list for yeeears. And boy oh boy did it serve! So, to have a big slice you must order a minimum of 24h ahead and keep track of the bakery hours since they are not open most days after 2pm or 3pm. Then, we were pleasantly surprised that the taste of the pizza matched its impressive look! It was Italian cuisine at its finest! Lamannas bakery is a well known bakery/takeout Italian place on the east end of the GTA. Parking is busy near the store but just park further away if you don't want to deal with it. There's almost always a line if you're just coming in to buy something. Suggest pre ordering to make your life easier. Note that they do have separate lines for hot foods vs bakery. Food: Lasagna - great flavor, lots of nice sheets of pasta to make up the lasagna with sauce between each layer. Sauce has some meat in it and great tomato flavor. Definitely worth getting - 5/5. Visited Lamanna's today on a Friday at around 12:30pm, during the lunchtime rush. Wow very busy, but orders were being filled nice and fast. We pre ordered 4 lobster rolls and one of their famous Big Slice's with pepperoni. Amazing quality food, loved the lobster roll. I came here on a Saturday morning to grab a few pastries to take to a friend's house for a housewarming and the selection that I found here was so great! I spent about 20 minutes in line which wasn't too bad. the service was pretty fast and friendly. I also really appreciated that they boxed up my pastries separately as per my request. Something else I really liked is that they have a separate pastry counter, separate hot counter and separate pizza counter. The place is very well decorated. When you walk in, there's the hot foods line on the left, and the desserts on the right, which is a smart way of breaking up the line system. Dropped in on impluse, because wished to go to the near by Rouge Park for an afternoon walk. We arrived before opening Saturday, note; they are only opened Tue-Sat 11am ... at 1045am, and there was a queue 10 people deep. However, soon their doors opened, and the line advanced quickly. This was the first time back since COVID restrictions moved the business to online orders for pickup. It was so nice to be back and see all the delicious goodies, savoury and sweet, on offer. First we joined the savoury side: picked up 2 slices of pizza (veg: cheese, artichoke, salty black olives, and green peppers, and a meat: a sopprasetta or salami of some kinda with a fine chiffonade of hot peppers), their HUGE sauced meat arancini, and their 25+ layered meat lasagna, which I enjoyed the most. Then we moved to the sweet side, many have complimented the custard Napoleon, so I had to get that and then choose things my mum would enjoy: a slice of delicious, creamy cheesecake, and a beautiful pistachio mousse-like slice (which she enjoyed, very much). Pizza review: They only sell 21" pies at just over $30 (very fair, since most reputable pizzerias do 18" for $26 CAD circa 2022: here, $31.50 for plain/cheese pie; extra toppings $2.00 each), and offer thin crust (as it should be). Asked for extra cheese and Parmesan. In short: it was an inferior version of 'Conzo's.' The dough was "good," but lacked in depth/complexity or elasticity, with a slight smokey flavour, reminiscent of 'Conzo's,' which is nice. Tomato sauce tasted plain/one-dimensional. The cheese honestly tasted more like Swiss-type cheese than Mozz'. And they offer Swiss cheese as an ingredient (interestingly...). I strongly suspect they (accidentally?) put mostly Swiss-type cheese on my pie. The cheese had very minimal stretchiness and had an "earthy" flavour. Might have been an 'aged' Mozz' but even so, it tasted noticeabley like Swiss cheese, which was a putt-off. I was lucky in that they don't do walk-in orders for pies (must request a pie 24 hours in advance!), but graciously accomodated my walk-in request (told me it would be 40 minutes, which was fine to me). I'd say the current 24-hour advance notice for their pies is a drawback at this time...maybe they can charge a few dollars more for walk-in/less-than-24-hours-notice pie orders... Also tried a handful of their bakery deserts (most were "decent" and the "Rum Baba" was the unique and likely preferred item of the bunch). I would highly reccomend trying their slices (especially before ordering a whole pie) as they are sub-$5.00 and come off a 21" pie (larger slices than other spots, so good value). I have seen the big slices from this bakery all over social media and this has forever been on my list. During Covid, they are accepting pre-orders for the big slices online. Placing an order was easy through the website, they do make you sign up with a third party to place the order and there is no confirmation email after the order has been placed. So make sure you screenshot or remember the order number as you'll need it for pickup. I ordered the Caprese big slice pizza and the birthday cake big slice. When I went in to pick up the order I also picked up some Nutella Bombolinis. The Caprese big slice ($28) was AMAZING (5/5). To my surprise, despite the long drive, the pizza was still soft and the crust wasn't chewy. The cake ($50) was too sweet. I was disappointed that the base was a pizza crust and not a pie dough. It is basically pizza crust, with lots of frosting and slices of cake on top. To give it the "pizza feel", there was too much frosting used as "sauce" which made the cake very sweet. Not worth the $50, however they did seem to have plenty of other regular cakes. 3/5 The Nutella Bombolinis ($1.49) were the bomb! Perfect size and oozing with Nutella. 5/5 Overall, I think their pastries are great. I will definitely be back for the Lobster Tail and Custard Tarts. The pizza was also really good. So I wanted to go because I wanted to check out the big slice they have. I had read they get busy so I ordered ahead online. Note some pizzas are only available in the round shape so make sure yours can be triangular shape. When I arrived, it was busy. It's not clearly marked that there are 3 lines. I saw 2 but after reading reviews, many mentioned 3! Pizza line, hot food line and pastry. So they could definitely improve this and make it more clear. No signage Most people are regulars so they seem to know what they are doing. Ok so the giant slice is a fun, gimmicky thing but the real question is, is it good? There is plenty of cheese on it. They don't skimp here. The crust is decent but it wasn't my favourite. It's airy, chewy snd light. (From eating just the edge to get a real sense of it) I'm not sure if it lacked salt, olive oil or what. Was it worth it? I'd come back for a slice. It's not bad pizza but the best? Unfortunately, none of the pastries/sweets really wowed me. I assume this would be different with their hot foods but sadly did not get any since we were there too early. We got classic Italian style donuts, mini donuts, chocolate chip cookie, cannolis, mini Nutella bombes and tiramisu. My bf and I immediately devoured the large Italian donuts but they were just meh, they had a slight lemon taste which I wasn't expecting. I was just hoping for it to be plain. The cannoli tasted like nothing. I was hoping for the ricotta to wow me but it was a let down. The shell had a nice crunch though. The cookie was probably the best thing I tried. It had a nice crunch around the edges and super soft and gooey in the middle. Lots of different type of chocolate chips. The tiramisu was pretty good too. Perfect classic taste. 8:39 PM I am so glad that I stumbled into this place. I am hoping to find more places like this. The authenticity spills out of this place. Right when I went in I knew that I was going into something good. It was very busy and there were many people in the three different stations in the Bakery. One station is for pizza types of food; another for pasta, chicken Parmesan and such; and the last station for desserts. I only went for the dessert for this visit because I was craving for their gelato and nothing else. Best decision I have ever made. Gelato: They have many different flavours for their gelato and each flavour is unique in their own ways. I had the pink grapefruit and lemon gelato (Medium for 5.60$ tax included), and it was wonderful. My friend had a scoop of coffee and a scoop of chocolate gelato, and the coffee was very rich. It was not like your typical coffee tasting ice cream or candy, it wasn't that sweet, but it was heavy with coffee; if you like your coffee black, you will love this flavour. Price: The price was fairly reasonable with the amount of scoops that we got. They give you about 1 and a half scoops for each flavour that you pick (I can only speak for medium though). Again, medium was $5.60. Lobster Tail: Love it. Light and crispy, the cream is very nice. Very addictive (as is everything else that is there). Pizza: Very big ($4.50) for one slice (technically two small slices). There are many different types of pizzas and each are the same price. You can have the choice of having two different types for each slice. The pizza is fairly thin other than the crust. The cheese is what replaces the taste and texture of the dough. Churro: Small and filled with caramel. Very addictive. Soft and light dough that is not dry, and very healthily filled with caramel. Tiramisu: I decided to go again on another day and tried the tiramisu. I enjoyed it, but it felt like I was tasting a cake instead of a tiramisu. Now a days it's hard to find tiramisu's with rum in it (like how it should be), so it's understandable that this didn't have it. But I was expecting for something else to replace that rum taste, maybe a shot of espresso (like how it should be); sadly, there wasn't any. The cream was rich and very smooth, not as light as your typical tiramisu. So, even though I did enjoy having it, it wasn't really a tiramisu, in my honest opinion. And i will probably not be getting one here again. Cinnamon Roll: It was soft and the dough was really nice. I enjoyed eating it but it wasn't very cinnamon-y. It was good, but not the best, but I would get it again because it has that addicting texture and taste to it. Eclair: I'm not too big of a fan of Eclairs so eating it here didn't make me fall in love with it. It wasn't super dry, but it wasn't fresh, so texture wise, it wasn't light or soft. I wouldn't go here for the eclair, it tastes like any other eclair. Service: The customer service was a bit lacking. Don't get me wrong, they notice that you're there despite the busyness of the bakery, but it's as if you're a problem to them. But hey, their food is good. I would still keep coming despite their customer service. (Although it depends on which person serves you) Conclusion: I enjoy coming to this place. Even if it's not THE best place that I've ever been to in regards to food, I love the atmosphere and the vast amount of choices that they offer for you. So we waited for about 10 minutes to get in. Inside was nice and orderly. We grabbed pizzas (sorry, chugged it down before I remembered to post on Yelp). And grabbed some desserts too. Food isn't that pricey. So that's quite cool! Food was very homestyle, the pizzas reminded me of Italian mom and pop store's food.
