    Box of pastries

First time visiting this bakery to pick up some pastries for a friend. There is a lot going on when you first enter and I wasn't sure what their system was to order, but turns out, you order from the different stations from different people, and they'll collect it at cash to check out everything at once. The pastry selection looked good, but disappointingly, most things were not labeled, and there were no prices to be found. We then ordered some lunch, and we ordered their steak focaccia but received chicken instead. We also ordered their $13.99 chicken sandwich on their menu, but it didn't mention that toppings were extra, or I didn't notice. I chose three toppings, and the sandwich became $18.49+tax. They also didn't offer sauce, which was a miss for me. The food was okay overall, the major standout was the bread used for the sandwiches, delicious. Maybe next time we're in the area, we'll just pick up bread.

One of my favourite bakeries in Vaughan! They have everything from their deli section, to hot food, to pastries to cakes! I love their service it's always friendly and I also feel their prices are very good! Always a warm comfortable atmosphere when you go in!

I was introduced to this place by a friend who shares the same passion for food. He brought me here for some amazing Italian breakfast. And amazing it was. Who needs a double shot of espresso? The smell of freshly baked bread and the sweet smell of cookies and pastries was enough to wake me up. The veggie Frittata was freshly made and very, very tasty. You can't go wrong with this one. http://www.yelp.ca/user_local_photos?select=43TVQY386CQZy68kZrkyGg&userid=5Tcyyq0BnqCHpBS8DV5V9g The Sicilian Cannoli is nice and crispy. The cream filling, nice, warm and not too sweet. A must-have of their freshly made pastries to end off an awesome Italian breakfast. http://www.yelp.ca/user_local_photos?select=6bBq5qosq_P5IVMVIeTM1g&userid=5Tcyyq0BnqCHpBS8DV5V9g What an amazing place for breakfast! 30 Day Yelp Challenge (8/30)

Now I know why my Yelp Friend sent me to St Phillips Find Bakeries.. Not for their coffee, bread, cheese, cold cuts or even their gelato... I dropped by this afternoon for a cappuccino ($3.50) which was ok... not great... While I was sipping my coffee and texting with my phone in the small self serve seating area... all these groups of men all come in for their afternoon espresso fix... By the time I ready to leave, every tables were full of men talking about cars, work and women.... So while the ladies hang out in nearby Starbucks... St Phillips is where all their men goes...

We come to St Phillips for their quality pastries and gelato. Okay, even the hot table isn't bad. But we just ordered gelato 1 scoop 2 flavours, $4.50 +13% tax, chocolate and pistachio, D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Not a 5 star because there aren't many flavours to choose from!

    Sfolglia cake

I ordered a cake for my dad's 65th birthday. I ordered a hazelnut sfolglia and asked them for an all white cake with only red piping at the bottom. When I arrived to pick up my cake, I was presented with a cake that was not what I ordered. It had red and white piping at the top and bottom and to top it off the piping was messy. It looked like a 3 year old piped the cake. I told the girl at the counter that I wasn't happy and she replied that nothing could be done. Because I was hours away from hosting my party I took it or I would have no cake. I called the bakery many times to discuss the embarrassing cake they sold me and it was difficult to get any answers. Finally I did have contact with someone and they asked me to email the pictures of the cake. I explained my situation. At the end they said the owner didn't see anything wrong with the cake (see attached pictures) and that they would credit me $30 For a future order I had with them. No ownership was taken for the incorrect order and the sloppy piping. The sfoglia was awful too- hard as a rock. I was so embarrassed to serve this cake at my event and my guests asked me if I made the cake at home as it didn't not look or taste like it was make at a well known bakery. Even my baker friends were astonished that St Phillips would sell a product like that. I will never shop at St Phillips again. I have since cancelled my future order as well. Save your money and go to other bakeries that will provide quality items and take ownership for mistakes when they make them.

Veal cutlet with sauce and chicken cutlet

Veal cutlet and chicken cutlets were amazing. Very authentic Italian food. Huge selection of breads and pastries. I will be back

It was quick! 1 person ahead of me ordering :) So happy I got to try this place as it's been on my list for quite some time. 5/5 as soon as I took my first bite. Ordered the tiramisu, chocolate/hazelnut croissant and a Spanish coffee. All were excellent. I enjoyed the various flavours that were light yet not too sweet or overpowering. Flaky pastry, and so so fresh. The mortadella & pistachio. Focaccia was fresh and fillings were generous. I would highly recommend. Amazing bakery, if you're in the area, highly recommend checking it out.

Upon arriving mid afternoon after the lunch rush, there were still so many people here. Thankfully no line up though. By around 2-3PM the lunch options were all gone (sandwiches, pizzas, etc), which is fine since I came for pastries. I opted for their butter croissant and their pistachio croissant. Both were great and delicious with the pistachio one having lots of pistachio filling. These were good but I wouldn't hype it as much as socials did - still amazing though! There's no seating and is a take out spot only. My pastries came in a paper bag with handles, no box, no wrap which was interesting. Overall, worth checking out for some good pastries in the area.

I hadn't heard of Brick & Butter Bakehouse, but it seemed highly regarded here, so it was a no-brainer. We showed up and the place was busy. I was a little full from the aforementioned meal, so I began looking at the smaller pastries. I eventually landed on the Peanut Butter Strawberry Crumble Financier, which I took to a nearby table and began eating. Oh man is it ever good. It's a delicious, rich cake that's subtle in its flavors but ultimately completely addictive. I honestly don't know how or if it could've possibly been any better. I can't wait to return to Brick & Butter to try some of their other offerings.

I was surprised that this few blocks really transforms the vibe - Brick & Butter Bakehouse's is near Greenview avenue, relaxing street which has a lot of green spaces alongside, giving the neighbourhood a luxurious vibe. We got - Plain croissant - Dubai chewy cookie - Canelé Plain croissant, looks beautifully golden and was flaky - I felt that it was a bit dry. It had a nice honeycomb crumb structure, but this interior was not soft. Overall taste felt very bland, leaving just saltiness/dryness on the palate. Canele was okay, but the caramelization of the outer did not achieve the bitterness I desired. The texture was not as delicate. The outer was crunchy but I felt it was too thick. Taste of the interior was good and moist. I wished to have more rummy flavor. Dubai chewy cookie - It was chewy outside like mochi, but inside was runny with some crunchy pieces. Good, but did not have depths and layers that I desired. Overall, overpriced for what was offered. But nice place to take a break when walking in this pleasant neighbourhood!
