I can see the big improvement that she made in sketch, acrylic painting, and colored pencil drawing. She submitted one of her colored pencil drawings for an art contest for the first time this summer. Her art has been selected to be published. We are so lucky to have Ms. Catherine as the art teacher.

I first heard about this studio from a parent of another kiddo in one of my daughter's track out…read morecamps. My interest was instantly piqued because I had been searching for art opportunities that didn't seem so basic for my young artist. Every other option (except one that pushed for full day when I wanted a half day opportunity) I had found offered for her age group before KidzArt had "cute themes" and was basically just drawing or painting on paper, nothing seemed special or specialized for that matter - I couldn't even find a class that offered basic sculpture with clay for my kindergarten kid! When I saw the course/camp offerings here, I was actually excited that this might be something that would work for my kid! There are TONS of different options for camps (both during the summer and for track out) for ages starting at 6 - the Town of Cary classes that seemed like they may draw in my child weren't available until she is 8 years old (the ones offered for her age group just seemed too basic for her abilities). I was thrilled to see that just after the studio opened and on my kiddo's track out there was an illustration and cartooning camp offered - perfect! So far, she has created a lot of great art: some in a sort of "wine an design" but for kids (without wine of course) style following the instruction of the teacher, and some free art of her own cartooning and illustration. There are many materials for the kids to experiment with here and an opportunity for free art time too. The owner and instructors are very knowledgeable about art and also work very well with the children of varying ages - they seem to genuinely care about the kids and get to know them. We also signed up for some classes here outside of the track out camp she is taking. The variety is great and my kiddo seems to find inspiration from the lessons as well as from the other kids in the class. I really wanted an opportunity for her to experiment with more materials and to learn some techniques she could apply to her own art - this studio provides exactly that! She's already learned some strategies with watercolor and shadow that have popped up in her other work (just like how after reading a specific book she will mimic the art style in her new art), and has requested time to work with clay which she hasn't ever really had a desire to do until now. She is really enjoying her experience at camp and definitely seems to be inspired by it! The studio itself is clean, open, and bright. The materials are well maintained, and it is overall a great place for young artists to grow! I'm excited to find more classes to continue to inspire my kiddo - she is also very excited to check out other themes here too!

They were very friendly and genuinely engaged with the children during this event. Camila and the gentlemen on staff running the event did a phenomenal job keeping the children busy and engaged. We stopped in for the special FX & prosthetic makeup workshop. Camila really worked hard to keep everyone focused on the tasks at hand and did an excellent job teaching such a large group. The costume contest was a good time as well. There were so many children in creative costumes that took home little trophies and prizes. My daughter thanked me for taking her and is excited to see what else the center has to offer as a young artist. This is a excellent place to invest in your child's talents and gifts. It's also the perfect space to allow them to spend less time off their digital devices & social media. They offer anime graphic arts, music, studio production, acting and more. We look forward to enrolling in the art & music classes here. This is a unique resource and space for young rising creatives. So glad to have stumbled across this center.

Unlike most galleries exclusively for displaying finished art, this place has the look of an art school. The back room has the requisite paint splatters, a color wheel of sorts on the wall and displays of student art. The front room, currently in the midst of a reorganization showcases the artist's work. The artist-owner, Catherine, assured me the canvases on the walls, leaning against the walls, or on the floor, would be displayed more appropriately once she finished rearranging them. In a way, though, the haphazard arrangement really made it seem I was seeing part of the creative process. The owner and artist was very sweet and took time to explain her inspirations. It was fascinating. Her works, and even those by her students, are in the impressionist style, with the vivid colors reminiscent of that era. There were canvases of all sizes, but the most striking for me was a small scene in the front window that Ms Martin said she painted of the area out behind her gallery. There was something about that picture that made time disappear. Nothing in it suggested it was a modern time or a modern work. It was captivating.

I get very real pleasure from the works of art that grace my walls - she brings a loving touch to every piece of art she creates. Personally, talking to her - she is a delight in every way. Warm, genuine and civic minded she is a credit to her community of artists and to Apex. She gives of her time and talent to wonderful causes and wherever she has been or wherever her art hangs is made so much better for it. I simply adore her and am so glad that my realtor, 10 years ago, drove me down Salem Street and I looked into her studio window and just went ahhhh!!!!
