I unfortunately won't buy anything through BRG again. I purchased an "oil painting" of a flower vase a couple of years ago, but when I got it home I realized it was a print. I took the blame for that because I didn't inspect the painting properly when I picked it up (it was behind a plastic cover so it wasn't super easy to tell)-- otherwise I would have declined the charge. Luckily I had only paid ~$35 for it. More recently, I purchased another oil painting for $55; there were several in the lot by the same artist, so I felt comfortable bidding on the painting, and I knew to inspect the painting in person before accepting it. When I picked up the painting, it was indeed a real painting, I could see the paint textures and it looked as expected. On the drive home from the BRG warehouse, I noticed the painting was actually a print that someone had painted over randomly with real paint. In the daylight, it was clear that the background canvas was pixelated, and someone had covered up a lot of the print with real paint, and then signed the artist's name at the bottom. I hadn't noticed this when I picked up the painting because the inspection area under the awning was poorly lit. So, I guess I can blame myself for not giving these paintings a more thorough inspection, but I can also place some blame on BRG for misrepresenting these paintings (either purposefully or by not having a more rigorous process for the descriptions of these lots). And for those reasons, I can no longer purchase anything through BRG. I won another painting last year, which I believe is real, and that is why I gave 2 stars instead of 1. Also, the website and pickup process work reasonably well. read more

The guy that owns this place is a raging jerk. He took a simple misunderstanding after an auction that they sent me texts to bid, which I did. As it turns out, the item was removed from the sale. I proceeded to receive invoice emails for a winning bid of $1 and $60 transport fee. Then received a text message at 630 in the morning that my CC was declinedv ans I needed to pay my invoice. I contacted my bank immediately. Nothing wrong with the CC. Shocked, I went to their website and added a different CC.l figuring there was some CC glitch. Still showed as unpaid. I placed a call when they opened because I didn't want to cause a conflict with them. Jeanine the office manager was very pleasant and was going to have someone check it out and call me back..At days end no one had called me. I wanted to stay in good standing so I called them back. Jeanine answered and apologized and put me on hold. After a 5 or so minute hold, this accusatory jackals took the call. I do not know who he is. I am assuming that he's the owner. He does take the time to explain the situation and what had occurred. Instead, he starts talking AT ME for bidding on something that had been removed. It's kind of hard to put in words how he was talking to me. ABRASIVE. I had finally had it. Admittedly I went at him. I asked why he was being such a jerk instead of trying to explain what had happened. His response. HEY, YA KNOW SOMETIMES I'M A JERK. I'M ALLOWED TO BE A JERK. Get some upscale pieces from estate or downsizing sales. Very nice employees when picking up in Apex. I've used in the Boston area too and they are just as nice. read more

Beware of the online auction descriptions. A bracelet I bid on and won was described as Sterling Silver and Cubic Zirconium. It appeared to be neither. There was no ".925" marking on the bracelet and the CZ didn't look like any other CZ I own. I wrote to them after I got the bracelet home and looked at it and I didn't even receive the courtesy of a reply. I paid over $100 for it. I have had great success with online jewelry I purchased from the northeast online BRG site, but I will no longer even look at the Raleigh auction. Burned once, I won't go for twice. read more
