Hadn't been here in a while, and Cocoon had now taken over the whole building, but this is now the least handicapped accessible shopping experience I can think of. Have to go down two sets of steps to get to the door, then back up stairs to the main level... overall I think we climbed up and down six sets of stairs, and we didn't even go to the highest level of the building! And this is using a cane: I think if you had a wheelchair you'd be out of luck, unless there is a hidden elevator somewhere. Their stock really hasn't changed much in a long time, so I guess between that and the fact that I can't get around the shop easily this just isn't the place for me. read more

This summer, we attended the annual Geneva Illinois Car Show. While we were there, I saw several people with shopping bags from The Cocoon Boutique store. I was intrigued, so I went inside to check out out. It is listed as a furniture and household goods store, but it is much more than that. Yes, they have some furniture, but, they also have a lot of eclectic kitschy items as well as some clothing. There is a vast assortment of soaps, toiletries, figurines, costume jewelry, and unique gift items. It's 2 floors of fun and I suggest that you stop in next time you're in the area. read more

Interesting shop located in downtown Geneva. The shop is in an old, 3-story house. Each room kind of had a different theme to it. Even the bathrooms were decorated with items to buy. Some clothing, some decorations, some tchotchke, and some jewelry. They have a little bit of everything spread around the 3 floors. We picked up some squirrel items. We had a gift card to use. The employees were friendly. One even offered to find some other squirrel stuff. read more

Really great shop - have found some decor stuff that has gotten compliments. Great service the employees and owner are more polite than many other Geneva shops that sell similar products. The selection is great - though you have to come back after quite some time to find something new. This used to be my favorite store when I came to the Geneva strip - have been coming here for years. I don't know what's happened lately, but it's really disappointing. They used to have a fantastic selection of fun jewelry and now it's 1/4 of the previous selection. They also used to have a lot of fun, quirky gift items and now it's mostly over-priced home decor stuff - and nothing even that pretty or exciting. The young woman behind the register who rang up my purchase did not greet me in any way - not even a hello. I asked her if they had a working bathroom (I noticed the bathroom had an "out of order" sign on it) and she replied in a huffy voice, "No, we don't." BS. Where do the employees go to the bathroom? That is not the way to treat customers. I wish the "old" Cocoon would come back, as well as the friendly employees who used to work there. read more

This is a very nice, neat store for you to shop for presents for families and friends, decorating objects for home, or some special treats for everyday life, such as good quality soaps. Compared to the little traveler, just down the third street a little bit more, I realize I like cocoon more and more over the years in terms of shopping for presents. I still love the little traveler since they offer a wider range of products from food, snack, home decoration, kitchen collection, or fashion accessories. But, I would say that, with two floors of nice collection, Cocoon offers a good range of nice goodies and especially girls I believe would find this shop very visual appealing and useful. I love this place. It's packed with fun gifts and home accessories. Cocoon is a great place to look for a quirky gift for a friend, I always end up finding something for myself too. Even if you're not in the market for a gift, check out Cocoon for their out of the box home accessories too. Funky frames and wall art along with kitschy drinking glasses and vases. Visiting Cocoon is like hanging out at Pinterest's house. You could spend all day peeking through the store's nooks and crannies. They have an amazing selection of shabby-chic(ish) decor, more modern & kitschy odds and ends, unique jewelry and accessories, handmade soaps and stationary, and great gifts for everyone from grandmas to grandsons. However, you might find yourself spending all day in here simply because you can't get out. I love Cocoon as much as anybody, but being a caregiver to my 96-year old grandma has left me with certain concerns about the accessibility of shops and restaurants -- which is one area where Cocoon falls short. There are multiple sets of stairs, so expect a climb with visiting. Aside from that, you can typically expect this place to be pretty crowded, and while the cute and cramped exterior is an adorable part of their overall aesthetic -- it can also make shopping somewhat difficult when you can't see some items or even get into some rooms. I don't mean to rain on Cocoon's overwhelming positive reviews here. I love this place, and we stop by whenever we pass it. Price-wise, I've seen some items are that are just silly expensive, but it's pretty reasonably priced overall and a great place to find that-thing-you-didn't-know-you-were-looking-for. However, my sister and I are both in our 20s (so we're pretty able-bodied), and frequently feel uncomfortable or claustrophobic inside, while my grandma can't get in at all (I've been going to Cocoon for years now, and I'm still not entirely sure what they keep upstairs). Don't pass up Cocoon if you're strolling through downtown Geneva. I love the nooks and crannies layout of the shop. Since it's in an old house, there are displays tucked into even a closet (or what it looks like used to be a closet). I thought I was done browsing, but then I saw a stairway - more goodies on the second floor! Cocoon sells small home accessories like mirrors, art prints, candles, and more, as well as a few larger furniture pieces like sofas, lamps and side tables. In addition to the chic home goods, there is funky jewelry, scarves, and handbags for sale. A few things caught my eye here, including a tiny white ceramic bird, with a photo clip, and a Tokyo Milk perfume called "Gin & Roses." I've only seen Tokyo Milk products for sale at a boutique in Hinsdale, so I was pleasantly surprised to see their perfumes for sale at Cocoon too. I ended up adding the perfume to my wish list later, after deciding that I liked wearing the perfume all day. The huge display of Roger Hargreaves' "Little Miss/Mr" books and coffee mugs almost gave me a run for my money too... Cocoon is fun to explore, even if you don't have much money to spend. The prices vary greatly. The bird photo clip I liked was less than $3, whereas other items were $40+. Cocoon reminded me a lot of Room 363 in downtown Naperville, but with more room to move around and a bigger variety of merchandise. read more

Oh my goodness! Sensory overload, so much to look at!! And I love it! I never would have stumble upon this gem if it weren't for my sister's dress fittings at Crystal Bride. After we went walking around the shops and her friend said we had to check it out. They have the most interesting home decor, I would love to decorate a future home with unique items from this place. They also have a ton of great little knicknacks that would be perfect as gifts for that one person you never know what to buy. On top of all of that, they even have perfume! I have been looking for a retailer that carried Tokyo Milk for the longest time so I could finally smell them (Sephora sells online, but they don't carry in store = womp). Every twist and turn reveals a new item or something unusual to look at. I buy a lot of presents here because they carry some really quality vendors.
