I already had a second job ( I'm a caretaker ) I would do my care taking job, cover a shift that a coworker upt and left and all the while still do my regular hours. Mike needed a guard for a hospital post and I told him that I'm already working so hard I can't do it. He pleads and tells me that he really needs be because he has no one. I agreed to it .. fell asleep on post and the next morning Mike sent me an email telling me that I am fired and that I like to sleep on the job and make free money. I worked my ass off even when no one else wanted too! He told me that whatever I do on my time I'm not working has nothing to do with him! Ever since then I will never accept a position from anyone ! Idc how much you bet and how much you plead ! As boss YOURRE supposed to handle your post if no one can show up! MIKE AND HIS SUPERVISOR would stay home ALLL NIGHT and never cover a shift if an employee didn't come .!I got fired but in all ACTUALITY HE COULDNT DO HIS JOB so as a man of his stature the best thing for him to do is blame it on someone else ! I cared when he pleaded how he didn't have no one ! He didn't give a rats assss that I worked my ass off and covering his shifts while doling my own shifts while having another job he didn't even say okay ____ thank you so much for all your help take a couple days off rest up and report to work. Especially since I DID NOTIFY him of my caretaking job and how I'm covering HIS OTHER EMPLOYERS SHIFT PLUS MY OWN I TOLD HIM .. he is an asshole .. He wanted to drop me because since the Stamford site that HE couldn't even keep as soon as it was done I doubt he even had any use for me. If you ask me I would never take a hospital shift especially over night ! MY ADVICE: If an employer begs you because they have " no one to cover the shift" THATS A THEM PROBLEM GET OFF OF YOUR ASS FOR THE NOGHT AND GO TO WORK INSTEAD OF BLAMING THE WORKERS FOR YOUR FUCKUP I will listen to my body my heart and my mind because these employers don't care about you !.. since I have GREAT security job .. I'm in the Union and my management actually cares.. ps this was my first ever security job .. Giovanni (John) was amazing. He was extremely thorough from start the finish. He made sure each of us in attendance understood the material and allowed us to practice compressions and bag/mask as many times as needed to feel comfortable. He provided constructive feedback and even some tips and tricks. John gave real life scenarios to help us all better understand the importance of CPR and proper technique as well as knowing your role and limitations. The equipment was clean and easy to use. The building is located conveniently right off the highway and easy to locate. The room was easy to find and well marked. Inside the room was spacious and clean. After taking one of their classes I decided to become a member of their ambulance corps because I loved the people here so much. (I have now been a happy member of Echo Hose Ambulance Corps for 2 years). The instructors here are incredibly knowledgable and want their students to learn in a way they can pass any state exam AND ALSO so that they can succeed out in the field. All of the instructors have given me and other students important lessons that aren't always in a book. Because of these great teachers I will feel more comfortable in an emergency, responding to 911 calls, and even MCIs. Echo Hose offers excellent quality classes and also very personable instructors that have passion for what they teach. Aside example of how great they are: During my state Recertification exam I was cold (I always am) and so I was hunched over taking the exam. One of the instructors, Pat, noticed. He went into the back office and came back with a fleece blanket and told me I could wrap that around myself to stay warmer. I finished off my exam more comfortably and warmer. Thank you Pat and the rest of the Echo Hose Training center team for always making those in your classes feel welcome and like family. I highly recommend taking the refresher courses, CPR classes, or any other EMS class Echo Hose offers.

As long as you can make it up there and have gps, it's awesome. You'll get to meet people who have a similar profession to yours more than likely. Plus they had apple pie last time I went. The session flew and it was precisely the refresher I needed. If you have extra questions or need more practice, they'll be more than happy. It's always a good idea to update your skills. Hope you never need to use them, but it's better to know what you're doing in case you have to.

Took my BLS CPR class yesterday. Our instructor, Tom, was hands on, friendly, and made the class…read morevery engaging and fun. I learned more during this class than I thought I would. Tom really put us to work for practicing CPR on the ground. We did several rounds of CPR on dummies, and it made me realize that yes, health care providers and anyone else certified can get exhausted after just a couple of minutes during this process! We learned the proper techniques on how to switch off for 2 person CPR as well. I will be coming back in 2 years and hopefully Tom will still be teaching here. Thanks to this program, I am not more confident to know I can help someone out if life support is needed. They also give you same day certification cards which was really helpful because I have a job interview later today, and can now bring my card to the interview. It's $27 to replace a lost card, (not the centers choice for the fee), but American heart association. Tom gave us a great tip and told us to take a photo of the card or make a photo copy, this way we don't have to pay for another one if it gets lost. Great place, I will be recommending this center to anyone who needs verification. (They also offer recertification classes for a lower fee).

Took CPR 123 at this location a few weeks ago and the class went really well. Repetition is key and…read morethis particular instructor made sure that he drilled important concepts into our heads so that we made sure we were leaving with a basic foundation of what ACLS was all about. It's difficult sitting in a room all day long and he aimed to make the class as interactive as possible. We covered BLS in the beginning of the class as a refresher as there were a few people in the class who needed to renew their BLS and who likely had not taken BLS in quite some time. He moved quickly through that and then onto ACLS. There were about six people in the class and he had each of us come up one by one to be the leader in an critical scenario. That part was slightly nerve-wracking, especially standing up in front of strangers but he guided you through each scenario, gave you the resources prior to the mock code that you needed in order to be successful and gave positive reinforcement after each skit. This class had a ton of information crammed into 6 hours so at the end, the test was way too lengthy in my opinion to perform well on and it was incredibly ambiguous. It felt like the NCLEX all over again. There were right answers, but there there was a more right answers, allegedly. A 50 question exam after a 6 hour long class is too much. Of course there needs to be an exam to determine whether or not you've passed the course but the questions weren't great and 50 is too many. Definitely learned a lot during this course especially regarding how to push emergency medications and the importance of closed loop communication. The book was absolutely useless throughout the course but now that it's over, I'm thankful to have it as a resource.

American Red Cross provided all the materials for simulations and are instructor provided us with great feedback. I would definitely come back to get recertified when my certifications are expired.
