I would like to share my ongoing and overall experience with Dr. Cody Koch. I relocated to Iowa from Dallas, TX where I had visited a total of 5 different doctors with regards to my acne scaring. They all recommended and executed on their plan to diminish the appearance of my acne scarring. Due to the propensity of hyperpigmentation on my skin, most had very ineffective treatments. Unfortunately, it didn't feel like the doctors in Dallas were committed to a long term approach, but rather something that would give me a more immediate result. Since moving to Iowa about 16 months ago, Dr. Cody and I have been working on my treatment together. He really took a very conservative, yet targeted approach to my acne scar treatment. He has spent a great deal of time walking me through his method explaining the why, while always asking me for my input through each treatment. With a total of 5 Erbium: YAG laser sessions under my belt with a gradual increase in depth from the laser I am seeing satisfactory results. At the age of 30 I feel more confident and am grateful to have him as my plastic surgeon. He always performs the treatments and even checks in with me via text or phone call. I feel like a patient/member and not just some transaction. He truly is committed to my satisfaction and I must say like any good relationship, he communicates and sets realistic expectations while arguably exceeding what he promised. I never dreamed I would be searching for a plastic surgeon when I turned 62 but there I was wishing I didn't look , well, 62. This guy popped up on my radar as I did my research and he was the first guy I went to see. (I mean you get multiple estimates for other things). It became an easy choice because he was amazing. He (at my request) made suggestions and told me what he could do and then it was up to me to make decisions. This is not a snap judgement decision. I finally chose a few of the options he gave me. He made both my husband and I feel so comfortable with everything - before, during the surgery (July 3, 2014) and after. As this was an outpatient proceedure at the medical facility, he came in on the fourth of July and opened his office to check me and and my stitches. Everyone at his office and the surgical location was so friendly and so very kind. One of my big issues was that I did not want to look like I had work done. He mastered exactly the look I wanted. Refreshed, no longer tired and a little younger than my now 63 year old face. My sister could not get over how I looked. She is very anxious to come for a visit and see Dr. Koch too. Amazing! In 2015 I was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer, and a large area of skin was removed from my forehead by a skilled Des Moines dermatologist. Because of the 'acreage' involved, and the fact the area in question was right above my right eyebrow, I was worried I might wind up disfigured, as well as perhaps being unable to experience normal facial expressions in my 'brow.' Dr. Cody A Koch put me at ease right away, being very clear about the nature of his cosmetic surgery -- even diagramming the way he would fix the area in question. And true to his words, there is now NO sign I was ever missing a large divot of my forehead! It's still unreal to look in the mirror and see perfect skin where there was once only a large hole.
