This was my first time going apple picking. I've heard about it which made me interested, curious, and excited all at the same time. We picked Cody's farm because there wasn't an entry fee, it wasn't too far, and someone picked up the phone when I called to answer all my questions. You purchase an empty bag for picking apples before starting. A bag costs $30 and holds ~ 30 pounds according to them which works out to $3 a pound. The weather was nice and it was plenty of apple trees to pick from. There were only a couple of other people picking apples while we were there. I imagined these huge trees with apples high up to reach for, but all the trees were around 4 to 5ft. There was several very long rows of different apple trees to walk up and down. I am now convinced to get an apple tree for my back yard since the size isn't huge. The farm had play areas and activities for children so it is a cool place to bring the kids. We hit the store and I bought apple cider donuts that just happened to be really delicious. Most of the produce and products seemed to be a little pricey, but I'm thinking everything is supposed to be organic so the prices are mor. I would definitely return and bring little ones if I had any to spend a day out here. read more

Cute little farm with farm animals to see and kids play area. Produce, honey, soap and candles available to buy in one barn. Vendors and food in another. I was going to get a caramel apple but they were $8 and not made there, prepackaged, so they did not appeal to me. Sandwiches were restaurant prices not" barn" prices so I left. I did enjoy the animals, goats, pigs, sheep and small cattle. I suppose if you have kids it's a great autumn thing to do and pick up some pumpkins and squash while there. Just seemed pricey and there was a charge for kids areas so I don't think I need to go back unless I have little ones to entertain. read more

Just the hubby and I took a mid-week drive to purchase apples for making/canning apple butter and apple pie filling. It was a nice drive, not too far but "out in the country". The shop was authentic and very clean. When I mentioned what I was planning to use the apples for the gal working there was thoughtful enough to suggest using "seconds". Saved a good amount of money doing that so we bought some apple cider donuts and a frozen apple pie! Both were wonderful! It did look like a fun place to take the younger kids to celebrate the season. read more

Fast forward a year later! Cody's is way more busy than when we went last year (yay! Good for them!). Pumpkins were $7 at the patch, any size. If you want a mini one, it was recommended that you purchase it at the store for $2 rather than pick it at the patch since that would be $7 regardless of size. They also have a corn maze this year. Not sure if I remember one from last year. The corn maze is $6 all day and there's a mini 5 questionnaire that you can fill out as you go through the maze. If you get all the questions correct, you get a free mini pumpkin/gourd. They also had a lot more kid friendly activities this year! Duck race, barrel race, mini tractors for kids to ride on, and the corn pit for kids (kinda like ball pit but with kernels). read more

Found this gem on google after searching for hours for a great fall farm to visit. We came by in late September on a Saturday and it was not busy at all! This place was everything we hoped it would be and more. We really wanted to find a pumpkin patch where we could pick them from the vines, as opposed to picking pumpkins in a parking lot in the city. Cody's got that mark for sure. They have a large patch that you are able to walk all around through. Since we were there a bit before prime pumpkin season, we were actually the first hayride of the year and had our choice of any pumpkin we wanted! They charge a flat $6 / pumpkin, regardless of what size you get, which is really affordable. The actual hayride to get to the pumpkins is free, so if you come with kids or just enjoy a ride that part is nice. They also have a nice apple orchard where you can pick apples for probably cheaper than most other orchards, and they have a very large corn maze! This farm doesn't have all the rides for children that some have, but there is a kid play area and they have some goats. It's also free to enter which is awesome, because some of the others are $20 ahead. The store sells fresh vegetables, apples, and everything you would expect from a place like this. The Apple cider doughnuts are delicious. Overall, I highly recommend coming to this place. I couldn't believe they didn't have a yelp page so I had to create one. When I checked it had like a 4.7 star average on google reviews, and I expect it will be similar on here. Everyone is very friendly and we will definitely be back! read more

To set things straight on another review ,the caramel apples are made directly there in the kitchen with apples picked right before they are hand coated and dipped in peanuts or sprinkles and they are worth every penny !! It's a beautiful setting and friendly down home staff ! read more

I've had great experience at Cody's! From their strawberries, cucumbers, tomatoes, and zucchini!! All great!! I have to say....they really have the best sweet corn around! A must try!! Their apples and sweet treats shouldn't be overlooked!! What a great farm! read more

Love, love, love how small this farm was and big at the same time. Small enough for my kid to not get lost and run around freely in the space, and big enough to overwhelm your senses with a beautiful pumpkin patch! Apples looked amazing from fat and even though I wanted to take pics and videos of this place, an old lady kept yelling at me to not walk by the trees of I'm not picking... like wtf?? You had to pick in groups, couldn't wander off and it had to be in 30 lb bundles. That sucked for someone who only wanted 2-3 lbs. It's a great place, I'll def be back next season only because my daughter loves it and enjoyed it. Not too crowded and overwhelming. read more

I wanted to treat my girlfriend to the full Halloween Experience, and I couldn't have done it without Cody's farm. We took a tractor ride over the hill and made our way to the pumpkin patch. We had so much fun picking out the biggest, and the smallest pumpkins we could find. Once we got back we made our way to the shop where we bought freshly dried corn on the cob to take home and pop fresh popcorn on our own! It was AMAZING and soo fun to make!! Cody's Farm made my fall experience everything I hoped and wanted it to be. And Cody's Farm will be the #1 place I suggest for friends to get the full Autumn experience. Came here on a last minute decision. Wasn't busy at all because we came on a Friday evening. This place is great- not a huge orchard but just big enough. We came with our four little kids and they loved it. After picking apples, we looked at the animals and then grabbed some fresh veggies and apple cider donuts then ended the day in the corn pit- my kids favorite. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back. read more

This orchard is a little over an hour drive from Chicago. I picked it because I wanted some donuts and apple picking without the madness. My family of 6 made the trek the third weekend of October. It was crowded but not overly so. We went into a food barn that had overpriced food. $6 for one Carmel apple is insane. They had apple pie but I saw boxes in a refrigerator so it is not fresh nor cooked in house. The apple cider is also not made on site. Donuts were good , not great. Pumpkins seemed a bit expensive ranging from $7-10 each. While driving in, we passed a stop off road that had 2 for $6 for good sized pumpkins. I like how the apple orchard had lots of varieties. They did not charge per person (nice) but did charge $20 for a single bag (peck size). Other orchards I've been to offer last two weekends of season discounts. I appreciate not having to pay for parking or general entry. There was a corn maze and jumpy house and hay ride but everything had separate fees which add up fast read more

My Family and I have been coming to Cody's for years. Always a wonderful experience until today. We were verbally attacked by a worker and management said I was putting her in a "stressful situation and she expects customers to use common sense...." This is all because there was a sunflower patch across the street with NO signs up that said to not enter. (We thought nothing of it only because other families were taking pictures by it). Had there been a sign, we would have absolutely never crossed the street. Once screamed at to come back, we surly did....but the screaming at us didn't stop there...it kept going....on and on... It was a very sad day at Cody's Farm for my family and I. We look forward to having our friends and family members find a new apple farm to make new traditions at. read more

A local gem! You can pick your own fruits and veggies that are in season for the lowest price around. If you have a chance to come and stop by I'd highly recommend it - the staff is wonderful and kind & the produce is always incredible.
