What a great surprise this place turned out to be! It is in a historic building and the signs are not obvious. Blink and you could miss it. 2 hour limited street parking is available but can be sparse. It would be rare to not find a spot within a hundred feet or so. The shop is quite charming and is very clean and well kept. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful with the food menu. Nice selection of food, baked goodies and coffees. I ordered a Steamed pastrami box lunch. It was delicious. The historic building offers several rooms where you can sit and enjoy your food and drinks. It really is comfortable and easy to relax and have a conversation or be on your electronics. Free WiFi is available. There is space for groups up to 6 or 8 and is child friendly. Outside seating is also available with numerous tables with umbrellas. Ideal place to meet friends or family for a coffee or meal. Located in the historic downtown area there are numerous places to explore within walking distance. I am most certain we will return to this little gem. read more

This place is too cute. The staff is lovely as well. The building it is in has ample room if you wanted to spread out and read a good book. I could spend hours in this place happily. The vibe from being in this old historic house is very comforting, not to mention the super friendly folks (customers and bistros)! Their coffee is delicious as well as the pastries that I have tried. The blueberry cream is my favorite so far! We stopped in here while driving through and needing some caffeine. Everything about this place is fabulous! The coffee was delicious and I love that they have local roasters and ethically source their beans. Their food menu was equally satisfying and everything we ordered was tasty. The staff is really friendly and we had fun chatting while we waited for our order. The only thing I would change is making it closer to where I live! I agree: the Kyle is one of the great small town coffee houses in Tennessee. Nestled within the walls of a converted Federal style townhouse, almost 200 years old, the shop has large and small intimate spaces. The baristas know their craft--my cafe au lait was flat out excellent. Well balanced, hot, full of flavor. Then there is a wide range of baked goods--loved the apple spice muffin. Great looking bagels. And frittatas and quiche of different sorts, all made in house. My colleagues loved them. A must morning stop in Rogersville. read more

Great coffee selections, food is all made from scratch with local farm grown ingredients and tastes wonderful. The owners wanted to create a great local gathering place and they succeeded in spades. Set in a historic old building the atmosphere is just perfect with ancient hardwood floors and large area rugs. Seating is in low club chairs or parsons chairs placed around bistro tables. Okay but you can't eat or drink great atmosphere. So what about the coffee. The coffee is better than grocery store fresh grind but not as strong - read bitter - as Starbucks. This is my second visit in as many days. I can't say enough about the Apple Crumble muffin from yesterday but the Spinach Feta quiche I had just now was heaven. Made on site, the best quiche I have ever had. The crust was flaky, not dry as often found in commercial quiches. The spinach was perfect with just the tiniest crunch to it. I live in Asheville which has amazing options but I've yet to find something I enjoyed as much as this charming little place in Rogersville, Tennessee. read more

I love Starbucks, but the closest store is about an hour drive time. Not to worry, Not to worry...entrepreneurs Randy and Steph Lord opened a coffee shop in a very historic building in a very historic district in downtown Rogersville, Tennessee - the Kyle House. The coffee here is great and the baristas are so nice. I love getting a red eye and heading back to the rooms they recently opened, then sitting in an old overstuffed chair and sipping. The Lords have also created a wonderful outside seating area alongside the building, which looks out on the town square. I highly recommend this place, whether you are just passing through, or staying at the Hale Springs Inn across the street, or are one of the lucky locals who now have a real coffee shop available! read more

Wow! We stayed at the Hale Springs Inn for about a week and thoroughly enjoyed our morning coffee and breakfast at the Kyle. Wonderful people and better coffee than snooty Starbucks. Finally a cozy coffee shop in Rogersville. The coffee is good, the atmosphere is comfortable and located in a very old historic building by the downtown square. I ate a delicious greek lemon chicken soup. The presence of small businesses like this make a huge difference in the atmosphere downtown. I grew up in Hawkins county and now live in Santa Fe, New Mexico where there is an abundance of small business. I really hope this coffee shops makes it and will definitely visit again when I'm in town. read more

I was a first time customer to the coffeehouse on 5/15/2019. Having never been to this coffee house, and observing outdoor tables and chairs, I entered through a side door. There was no door sign posted saying no entrance, employees only, etc., plus the door was unlocked, so what's a first time customer to think, right? I'm looking at it as I'm writing this....thinking.....security breach!!! Anyway, I was greeted by a male employee who led me through the back of the establishment to the customer order area. For the safety of the employees and customers, this door should be locked at all times and signage posted for new customers....making them aware that this side door is not for customer entry. I've been staying in the general area for a few days now, and I've managed to visit several regional coffee shops, and I can say that as far as experiences go, Coffee at the Kyle has been the best. It's a strange atmosphere, but that gives it its charm. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the prices are decent too. Oh and by the way, they have delicious coffee. It's not the level of coffee you'd find brewed by some artsy-fartsy hipster in the city with a full lab filled with beakers and pour-overs and nitrogen and what not (I happen to love that pretentious crap) but it's still a great cup of coffee.
