This former cinema (Ceintuur Theater (CT)) currently holds a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and diner. I really love this place. The entourage is just marvellous. They transformed this old cinema in a restaurant with different levels. From bar, tables to lounge. The tables that are attached with robes on 1 side to the ceiling ... wouw ! A simple menu but with some high prices (especially coffee) some food prices too, some are low. It's a strange combination :-). The food is oké but the salads could be a bit better. Some more ingredients for those prices. Breakfast also not the cheapest in town but that's excellent. And like I said .. the place itself is stunning. The coffee is terrible, so much acid taste ... especially with the espresso .... Good atmosphere though, really nice place, good staff (walking those stairs every time getting a free exercise at the same time :-) ). Menu could be a bit better but there are also some really nice items on it. The Hummus is oké but lacked a bit of flavor. Crab cakes are lovely. Chilled out beachy vibes in the Pijp! Love the atmosphere of this place and it is absolutely massive on the inside, at night it's lit up with candles which makes it even better! For atmosphere it gets a solid 10/10, however it gets extremely busy which means noise is at a maximum... Try and make it early to avoid the stampede! As for the actual food and smoothies, the flavours are really good but the prices are soaring high which is why I only gave this place 3 stars, the prices and the noise... Would give it more otherwise. Recommend trying it once or twice to see if it's your thing :) read more

Which was especially confusing for the coffee, because how can you serve a coffee cold straight from the machine??? The pancakes that came with the breakfast tasted like dry sawdust. This is a high three star for me, would be a 3.5 if halves were allowed. The space is gorgeous-- you never would know it used to be a theatre as it's bright and airy, and completely massive. We weren't sure we'd be able to find a table, but a couple was leaving as we went to the top balcony, and we snagged their table. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options, which was nice, and all-day breakfast options. I ordered the beet burger and my guy had avocado toast with feta. Both were tasty, and basically exactly what I'd expect from the descriptions. Prices felt fine by London standards, although not a bargain by any stretch of the imagination. I didn't love that the burger didn't come with any sides, and they weren't offered or suggested-- I would have paid for chips or salad alongside it if I'd known that was an option. Service was fairly quick, although that felt like it was more about turning tables quickly than providing a great experience. We definitely felt like it was a "cool" crowd here, but everyone was doing their own thing rather than judging other people, so didn't mind too much. read more

I've been here 3 times, making sure I visited every time I return to Amsterdam. While I feel like the quality of food has gone down since my first visit, it's still a really great choice for brunch and I would recommend it for the fun atmosphere and friendly service. I had the full CT breakfast my first two visits and they were slightly different each time. My first time it came with a coconut pancake with berry compote, the granola yogurt fruit parfait, a slice of scrambled eggs avo (no olives), and a slice of toast with cheese on top. So good and filling, and very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. 2 years later, I ordered the same dish and this time the toast with cheese was replaced with a small fruit bowl and they added olives to the avo toast (I hate olives but that's irrelevant). The most recent visit was in June and I switched up my order. I had the le croissant (croissant sandwich) and a slice of banana bread. Both were a bit dry, but still good. At the end of the day, you're probably coming here because it's trendy, and not because the food is the best in all of Amsterdam. It makes for a perfectly decent breakfast, but I might not make it a priority the next time I visit the city. read more

Well done. Just well, damn done. This joint is spectacular. Everything, from the signage outside, the the ambiance, layout, lighting, decor, seating arrangement and spacing, design, ......... perfect. Just perfect. The building used to be an old cinema and the historic feel of it is simply lovely. Exposed brick walls that are warmed up with bright white walls, soft wood colors and plenty of greenery just make this place buzz with a great mellow yet energizing feel. Yes, it is packed to the brim. Yes, you may not find a seat. HOWEVER---if you see someone or 2 someones at a table for 4---just ask if they'd mind if you join them. If they say yes---oh well....if they don't---wonderful! Settle in for a lovely experience. This menu has anything and everything you could want. Wraps, sandwiches, pancakes, tempeh, meats, avocado smoked salmon....kimchi----and a delectable coffee menu. It is clear that there has been so much thoughtfulness and consideration taken from they layout to the menu. This places has been created with love. And let's talk about the staff---shall we? I'm not someone who needs friendly staff when dining out. I'm an exception to the masses that typically are turned off by not so friendly staff. That being said----friendly, lovely staff make my heart smile. And we had the loveliest of waiters. A convivial chap with a scraggly beard and hair tied back. He had a lovely smile, a warm energy and a little twinkle in his eye when he spoke to you. He was like this with each and every table he helped that day. There was a trio of folks who came in and found space at a 2 top table...so they were going to have to take a chair away from a table not using all their chairs. A man asked a group of 3 girls if he could take their unused chair---and they were sort of just looking at him. Our waiter just walked up and took the chair and was like..."yup, that's fine." Got the gentleman seated and then turned back to the ladies and said..."oh, that's ok, right?" To which they laughed and said yes. He handled that very well. My sister ended up ordering a tempeh kimchi sandwich, and I ordered the CT breakfast which came with scrambled eggs and avocado on sourdough bread, fresh fruit, a cup of yogurt with granola and a small pancake. I tried my sister's pancake and it was SO SO good! I asked for my avocado and egg toast to have some smoked salmon added to it. Y'al.....these folks have perfected the art of making fluffy, delicious eggs. They were just perfect. The avocado wasn't heavy which I really appreciated, and the salmon was AMAZING. SO fresh, so soft, just melted when you bit into it. The pancake was really good. wasn't soft and fluffy, but more hearty. You could taste the coconut and banana in it .... really lovely and light. The fruit was really fresh as well. The only part I was sad about was the cappuccino and the bread of my toast. Sadly----I do believe that their espresso machine was in need of a good cleaning because my cappuccino was juuuust starting to get a bite of bitterness to it. But I could tell, that had it been fired up in optimal conditions, this coffee would have had some incredible flavor and depth to it. The bread that was the same for my toast and my sister's sandwich was just not substancial enough. I hate really thick tough bread, but this was too porous. If you tried to pick it up, it would just fall apart. That was sad. All in all----get your ass here. It's lovely and they've clearly put a lot of heart into it. It's clear that they treat their employees well, because the staff clearly likes one another and they're so lovely to their customers. :) read more

The interior is really cute! The outdoor seating is okay. We sat at the bar and it was cool to see how they prepare the food. You could tell that the staff are dedicated to making the food as delicious and well-presented as possible. We also ordered a mango lassi, which could have been sweeter. Maybe I'm just used to sweet mango lassis. Other than that, great, pretty food. And you must try the cold coconut coffee! read more

My partner and I ate here multiple times for breakfast during a trip to Amsterdam. The interior design is lovely and the space feels very open and inclusive. Everything that we tried was very tasty, but some meals are a better 'deal' than others. I recommend steering away from the Full CT Breakfast - which is tiny portions of some of their breakfast items and leaves you hungry at the end of it - and instead go for the full item servings, like the Scrambled Eggs Avo or the Poached Eggs Rockafella (my favorite). The service was deplorable. The staff has no idea how to juggle servicing three floors of patrons. I recommend reading the menu before you go, knowing what you want as soon as you're seated, and ask for the check when they bring your food - otherwise your quick breakfast will take 1.5 hours... read more

There is plenty of seating here, and I decided to sit outdoors due to the good weather. I ordered the drunk mr nillson and the veggie burger, and was pleasantly surprised. The drunk mr nillson is a shot of rum, and coconut juice in a coconut. My veggie burger and the sweet potato baked potato was delicious, one of the best that I have had. Let me start by saying this place is beautiful, and that one of these stars is for the well-lit, spacious, and beautifully decorated interior. That said, their "thai sticky rice" ruined the place for me. I got the pak choi and soba salad, which was decent, if a little too much dressing (8/10) and the thai sticky rice(1/10). IT IS NOT THAI STICKY RICE. It's a bunch of balls of regular rice (not chewy/sticky, and I don't think even coconut rice), mixed with a coconut milk sauce to make them stick together, and then rolled in coconut shavings. It was also, in my opinion (and my friend's, who tried some), pretty disgusting. It cost 7.50, and had no description saying it wasn't what "thai sticky rice" actually is, so don't make my mistake. Coffe and coconuts is located next to the tramstop of tram 12 and 3. It is large but due to the interior design ot still feels like being in a swedish small coffe bar. Food is good. Service is above dutch standard. Wines are ok. Tip: reserve a table if you plan to go with a group. It is popular on friday evefor dinner. Top floor can hosta large group. read more

Checked into my hotel in Amsterdam and opened up the Yelp app as I did the last time I was here. This jumped at me with good reviews and its name: anything 'coconut' jumps at me. It's a beautiful chilled space. The three stories of openness and "tropical" vibe will immediately welcome you and relax you. Service is friendly. The shrimp tacos were great on taste but I'd switch the tortilla to a soft one because it was too crunchy. It's a small entree more like an appetizer. The Verdejo wine was crisp and enjoyable. A steal at €4 per glass. The cortado coffee was velvety rich and good but could've been slightly more robust. I had to have something coconut! I tried the coconut lime bread which is a pound cake. The light coconut flavor was a hit. I couldn't really perceive the lime but I enjoyed the treat nonetheless. I'll be back here if not for a whole dinner maybe just coffee. I kept hearing this business name come up everytime I did research about Amsterdam before going. As soon as I went inside I understood why. Coffee shop doesn't seem like an adequate name for the business as it is huge, has three stories, and therefore exceeds a 'shop'. It is located in an old movie theater so its a really interesting shape and layout. I really loved the comfortable setting of the lower level, as the higher levels seemed to be more dedicated for a restaurant styled experience. The coffee was a bit expensive, and they use the Amsterdam roasted, White Label coffee which I'm not such a fan of, BUT they had a great looking smoothie menu that I regret not having ordered off of. read more

The food and drinks here are fantastic! I ordered lime-chili fruit, which was alright only because it still mostly tasted like plain fruit. I also had the Watermelon Love, scrambled eggs avocado, and cappuccino. All of it was delicious. The place itself was has an incredibly fun and unique vibe. Hipster, nasty barley warm avo eggs on soggy sourdough bread. Smoked salmon tasted as though it should be composted not served.

The food and coffee is alright. However, this place is touted as a place to work as a digital nomad. This is where things go a bit pear shaped. The service is very Dutch. Expect to be served by man-bunned lanky hipster whose level of style appears to be inversely correlated with their level of service (for non-math geeks: "A negative correlation means that there is an inverse relationship between two variables - when one variable decreases, the other increases"). In this case, their hipsteresque style is top-notch, where their service is dangling at the bottom. When I asked a question to one of the waiters, he brushed me away with a "Not right now, I am busy". Oh really!? I am very sorry, sir, that I am taking up your time as a server. Please, I beg your forgiveness as I return to the dark chasms of being a customer. How could I ever come to you with such an audacious request. Next to that, we were shoed away from one of the tables because laptops were "not allowed at that table". Perhaps they have chosen to create a more cozy environment where people are not draped in blue lights from Macbooks. Clustered among one of the few places where the have plugs to power your laptop, we unplugged a light (that only gave very minimal light). The same man-bun came by and said "I am not sure if this will kill any of your laptops, but I am going to unplug this". Luckily he plugged in that light bulb again. People were really tripping over themselves finding their way through the darkness. In reality, the bulb did not add any real light to the area of the establishment, but did significantly decrease the level of service. And then I am not even addressing the way he approached the unceremoniously unplugging of one of our laptops. So in short, the food and coffee is alright, but you really have to be ready to withstand bottom-of-the-barrel Dutch service. read more

Awesome atmosphere and great space. I had the Gringo juice and it was really good. Attentive service too. I unfortunately ordered a not so great item: the Korean shrimp tacos. The tortillas were so stale and hard they were basically inedible. The tacos themselves could've used a bit more kick or flavour to it (especially since there was kimchi in there). We had a hummus plate, a sweet potato curry, and a fresh Lebanese salad. It was all fantastic. This is the story of a place which was awesome and just keeps going down. The first two times I went there their soups blew me away. Then I came back and it was not so good. And then ordered their beet burger. The patty was nice but the bread was hard, industrial and just bland. Also these people have amazing coffee machines and can't pull a decent shot and the service is just lacky. Do not eat here. The service is terrible and inexperienced, we were left waiting with our food in front of us without cutlery for so long that we ended up eating dinner with our hands. The average burger came with stone cold potatoes straight from the fridge and a mayo from a plastic bottle. The Hummus easily recognizable from a known packaged brand sold in the supermarkets. That's why it cost 7 euros I guess. Fun and trendy interior, but plastic food from the fridge. Is it so hard to make simple good grub? And yes, the wine is cheap and nasty, but you are reminded with a big smile that the whole selection ( 4 types) are all the same price.
