Everything about Coffee Patisserie would make me want to call it A-OK except for the cake, which well... Yay! I'm a fan!
I ordered a tuna panini and a latte for my lunch. The panini wasn't bad and came with a small side salad and some crisps. The latte was ok. Everything was pretty fairly priced for the West End and I didn't have a long wait to get it.
The cafe isn't huge and it was quite quiet. They have big TV screens behind the counter which cycle through their menu options and specials. The place is pretty average in terms of atmosphere but everything was basically fine.
However, I seated myself by the window, which is where the cakes and pastries were displayed. It was pretty inevitable that I'd have to order something. So, after I'd eaten my panini I went to have a look. The cakes aren't labelled so I had a quick chat with the proprietor to find out what was what - he's a lovely Frenchman who followed the girl he loved to Glasgow and then fell in love with the city, it could happen to anyone.
Anyhoo, after our chat I settled on the Fererro Rocher gateaux which was as delicious as it was pretty. After that I feel the need to come back to buy a box of cakes next time I have an event cakes would be appropriate for. Surely literally any meeting counts? read more
