My first thought of the Austrian Version of Startbucks (of which I am not not a fan either) the other day was - finally someone local is offering moccacino (call it as you wish, coffee plus chocolate), and hopefully it is not pure sugar as in the other coffee chains. Though some cold coffee creations i had here before were indeed pure sugar, just like anywhere else.
The next thought was of the movie Lego, where coffee costs 37 Dollars or so and all the little brainwashed Lego people are happy to pay it every morning while singing "Everything is awesome". Well, not the first time this seemed quite realistic! I paid my 9 euros for two small take-away premium moccacinos, then i had to throw them away almost immediately, because the most dominant taste was - luckily not sugar this time, but - sort of melted material in which they were served (das bilde ich mir ein, oder?). Maybe it was taste of something else, but it was getting worse with each sip. I am aware of my pickiness - but my friend threw hers away after a few sips too. So I wonder how anyone can drink this. It is not the first time I tasted take-away cup more than the actual coffee, but this "Beigeschmack" was particularly distinct here in combination with the bitter drink. I appreciate that it was not sugary....... however, that alone is also not enough if you want to charge Lego prices for your coffee. read more
